So we're now 8 episodes in. I'm loving it. It's gotten better each week IMO. I know this show hasn't gotten great critics reviews, but I think it's one of the best new series this year.

The last 2 episodes. Sam gets seduced by the female prisoner, bangs her and then gets his throat gouged out and she cries rape. he was such a moron to fall for her scheme. They didn't really make it clear if he was dead or not. But, he bled out.

and for those who didn't see the family resemblance. The actor who plays Sam is Mario Van Peebles son. Mandela Van Peebles.

Then the murder scene in the school bus from the serial killer who was executed. That was pretty eerie.

and I loved Mike going on his shooting rampage killing Duke and his entourage to get revenge for the rape, drugging and kidnapping of Iris. That was pretty badass. Honestly, I know it's two completely polar opposite genres, but I like this Renner show better than Hawkeye.

and then Tim gets stabbed. Lots of shit happening.

The last couple of episodes were written by Sheridan and directed by Clark Johnson, who I know directed episodes of The Shield and The Wire and Homicide. He does a good job with these gritty crime shows.

Just my opinion, but I think Nichol Galicia, who plays Mike's assistant is sexy.

I'm behind and now need to get on 1883, which is 3 episodes in.

I'm still watching. I find the show to be ok... not great, but not bad either.

Still kinda weird that Mike is involved in everything that's going on. The show reminds me a bit of Ray Donovan, in that Mike is almost a fixer like Ray was... and there are many scenes in which Mike gets a call while driving somewhere, and then has to change course to deal with that call. Ray did that almost every episode.

I have extra interest in watching as I like seeing all the places in my city in which this was filmed. I liked that Mike's office is less than 5 minutes from me in an area I grew up in, but when he said he had to find another office - I was a little bummed. And then we find out it was just across the street.

Why So Blu?

I binged all the available episodes today -- the show is badass. Renner needs to walk away from the lame Hawkeye character and focus on projects like this where he really gets to show.

Agreed, Jeremy Renner shines in gritty roles like The Hurt Locker, The Town, Wind River or now Mayor of Kingstown. While I do hate, killing off Kyle Chandler's character in the first episode, I'm enjoying the show very much.

I think it's a good mix and Hawkeye is one he doesn't have to take seriously. His work in films Runaway mentions and this gives him some serious gravitas though. American Hustle.. not so much.

Just finished episode 9, which was about the prison riot. Wow, that was pretty awesome and brutal. The killings and beatings of the guards felt very gritty and realistic. Ian and Kyle are in a pretty scary predicament. Looks like most of the guards were killed.

More people need to watch this show instead of just watching Star Trek on Paramount + and complaining there's nothing else on.

I didn't care for the prison uprising, there was just something off about the execution. But yeah they definitely fucked some shit up hah.

Why So Blu?

Yeah, just watched it and it was awesome. One of my favorite supporting characters the guy that leads the SWAT team - dude is funny and a controlled hot head. When he goes to work, though, he fucks shit up! Lots of squibs in this episode.

When Mike left his place early in the episode, I was sure he'd come back at the end to find Iris either killed by the bear or dead from suicide.

Wow that season finale was insane. Mass carnage. Crazy body count. Obviously they want to do more as Milo escaped disguised as a guard. And there’s a lot more unresolved stories. Yeah I also love the SWAT team leader. Badass and funny. He team took no bullshit. They shot first.

And I loved the crazy guard with the shitty home life snapping and firing back at the soldiers and then getting killed. At least they put him out of his misery.

Great first season. Sheridan did great work making a gritty R rated prison drama.

My bet was on Milo killing her, although that would have been lazy writing.

I loved the first season, but I can't forgive Kyle Chandlers death in the first episode.

I assume in the second season, we see the other thing Milo wanted Mike to find, as well as investigating Duke's slaughter by the hands of Mike.

The SWAT team is no fucking joke tho. And in the end, two of the 3 gang leaders are dead? Duke on the outside, P-Dog on the inside? Carlos survives?

Good finale, really good season.

Haven't seen a Season 2 announcement yet but since it's Sheridan I imagine there will be. I'll be there.

There hasn’t been an announcement, but Season 2 was listed in Production Weekly a few weeks ago.

This and 1883 are the only reasons I jumped on Paramount+. This met my expectations overall, gritty drama... I made the mistake of checking the imdb cast list because I couldn't wait to see who all of the actors were that I recognized, only to discover why a certain actor that I expected to be in the whole show wasn't.

This is pretty much for Renner and Sheridan fans only imo, That's exactly why I was interested, but it's hard to see it breaking out much beyond that.

It was interesting that they put Kyle Chandler in the opening credits of the 1st episode. Normally 1-offs are just credited as "Special Guest star" But, I guess that would have been a giveaway that he wasn't a long-term cast member.

While I feld betrayed by the promotion, I have to say it was very effective. Kyle Chandler wasn't only in the opening credits he was prominently featured on the shows poster as well.
So his death came as quite a suprise to me.

Taylor Sheridan gets a good mixture of famous talent and character actors for all of his shows, though some of the actors appear throughout all of his shows and movies, which is kind of distracting.

Renner is doing an amazing job in this show... but I can't help but want Chandler as the lead and Renner as the little brother that has the baby on the way.
