I think closer to the truth is that you’re out of touch with who Chris Rock is.

I'm not a big fan. I'm just aware of the fact that he is a huge comedy star, and has been for 25 years.

I'm not sure how being well known to elderly people and children would help Rock's career. Are elderly people and kids gonna pop for tickets to his shows that go for $150 a piece? If Chris Rock wasn't a big star, why would he have been on stage at the Oscars, by himself, and allowed to say whatever he wanted? And you do realize he hosted the Oscars twice?

Unless someone has managed to completely ignore the last 30 years of American comedy, they know who Chris Rock is, and if you have ignored the last 30 years of American comedy, then Chris Rock could get shot at the Oscars and you wouldn't give a shit about who he is.

Expected to be the final appearances for Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, and Kyle Mooney tomorrow.

Not a shocking announcement, but kind of a bombshell for four longtime cast members to go at the same time and announce the departures one day before the last show.

Pete and Kate will be fine. Kyle and Aidy will never be seen again.

Pete has a show deal with Peacock, he doesn’t need someone else’s money.

Sucks and huge losses for SNL

It will not be the same without them.

Aidy had Shrill on Hulu and I imagine she and Kyle might do some sitcoms or maybe create their own content or shows.

When is Kenan is going to leave?

It will be sad if he is 70 years old and still on the show.

When people talk about how long Kenan has been on the show, I just wonder what their problem is. He's good on the show, and he clearly likes doing it. So, good for him. He knows he's not going to leave and become a Will Ferrell or an Adam Sandler or Jimmy Fallon. I would rather someone solidly funny like Kenan in Year 16 than Alex Moffat in Year 5.

Kate has been a big SNL star for 10 years, but she has not had big success outside the show, and (let's be honest) they are not throwing sitcoms at people like the old days.

Aidy is funny and talented, but (let's be honest) the market for overweight actresses has never boomed.

Pete could be the craziest success story in SNL history, considering how low he fell. I don't hate him, but I don't love him either. I would need to see him do something as an actor, and stick with it and succeed. Right now doesn't he just play Pete Davidson in everything?

I think Kyle is much better as a writer than a performer. His Netflix show was crazy, but I don't need to see him (or his Baby Yoda).

My two cents.

Kyle Mooney does Baby Yoda?

I hated that skit before I even knew it was him! rotfl

Exactly. It’s a Jeff the Alpaca favorite too.

RDJ was already a successful movie star and was nominated for an Oscar before he had his substance abuse problems.

Davidson could have died four years ago and his only claim to fame would been being a minor player on SNL with a major cock.

Of those four Pete is the only one that adds value to the show (for me). I thought McKinnon's act wore thin a few years ago, and I've never found Bryant or Mooney particularly funny...in fact frequently the opposite...especially Mooney.

RichC2 05-20-22 11:02 PM

re: SNL General Discussion Thread

Yeah but RDJ is still a pretty crazy success story in terms of former SNL cast due to just how far he fell and just how famous he got.

Pete's "goofy guy with a big dong dates famous women" is still to be foretold in terms of last ability.

I believe that this year’s cast size was 21 so not really surprised that a few of them are leaving. I’ll miss McKinnon and Bryant the most. I didn’t care much for Mooney and Davidson.

I wonder if Cecily Strong is leaving too. I don’t want her to but she has been on the show a long time too.

McKinnon was in Yesterday that Beatles movie and the Tiger King Peacock series along with some other movie projects.

If Pete has the most success it would be similar to Chris Pratt on Parks and Rec and he was not the best performer or talent on that show but has the biggest successful career.

Kenan is not that funny to last that long on the show.

I wish Hartman, Carvey, Sandler, MIke Myers, Kevin Nealon or Lovitz lasted as long as he did.

Kenan has the talent to do other things though his NBC sitcom did not get picked up for season 3 but he was good in that.

It is

Everybody thought that Elon Musk show was a masterpiece but I thought it was one of the worst SNL shows ever.

I meant could BECOME, if he goes on to great success.

That is accurate information.

That's the point. If he was some giant talent, he wouldn't want to stay.

Nobody thought that.
And his name is spelled Musk.
