The episode is called The Passenger.

It was fun. Some people are probably going to call this a filler episode because it was standalone and zero connection to last week. I liked the humor with The Child and The Passenger. I laughed when The Child kept eating those eggs and then snuck in that last one.

The spiders were cool looking.

Loved the cameo from Mr. Kim. Unless you’ve seen a certain Netflix Canadian show, you’ll have no idea what I mean ;)

Taken directly from a Ralph McQuarrie concept, just found it in The Illustrated SW Universe. "The knobby white spider, the mobile predatory stage of the gnarltree life cycle." It's meant to be from Dagobah, but still cool they used it.

Still bugs me seeing Filoni (and the other directors last season) with these Rogue Squadron cameos - they could hire actors and actually start to build out the squadron roster over the years.

The frog talk for some reason made me laugh.

Fun standalone episode. It was under 40 minutes with the recap and end credits.

 @ the rocket pack and the egg eating

To clarify what I was talking about earlier. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee cameoed as the Asian X-Wing fighter.

He's the star of Kim's Convenience on Netflix, a Canadian show. if you don't get the connection, Simu Liu (Shang Chi) is also a star of that show. He probably got Lee into this due to the Disney connection.

Mr. Kim in the house!

The egg eating was the Baby at his most mischievous.

Also, at Stormtroopers that are poor shots, but rebel X-wing pilots are like fuckin' Deadshot.

Cooooool episode. Face huggers!

The X-wing police chase was great. The planet looked fantastic in HD.

I'm not a parent, but my coworker has 3 kids and he said if you ever see your toddler kid eating something and you don't remember giving anything to eat, it's probably something the kid shouldn't be eating. This episode reminded me of that

A filler episode so soon? This show moves verrrrrrrry slowly.

It was entertaining but didn't appear to advance the story much at all. With only 8 episodes I was kind of disappointed.

Yep, but last week's episode felt like filler to me too.

I think that's more of a perception issue. It's not filler if this is what the show is.

Ah, I was wondering if they were based on the spider-like "kinrath" creatures from the KOTOR games.

Re: The Mandalorian: Chapter 10: The Passenger (S2E2) - 11/6/20

I didn’t feel like it was a filler episode. It carried on the main arc of the season so far, which seems to be Mando in search of other Mandalorians. The frog lady is supposed to be leading him in that direction, but obviously this episode presented problems along the journey.

I was entertained by the episode. Liked seeing The Child be a little shit. The parts with the X-Wing pilots and Mando were good as well.

Lots of cool creatures/aliens. The spiders were disgusting and also kind of frightening. The Dr. Mandible character in the cantina was cool looking.

If people felt this and/or the first episode were filler, maybe this show isn’t for you. It’s kinda what the whole series is.

Yeah not every show has to be heavily serialized with deep mythologies. This show has always been structured like an episodic Western or even the old school science fiction shows of the 70s and 80s which were all stories of the week.

This is sort of my beef with the show from day one, what is the story? I continue to be amazed how much love this show gets (even from anti-Kathleen Kennedy crowd). Don't get me wrong, as it's not a bad show (it feels like a movie) and sort of guilty pleasure. But we are 10 episodes into the show and it's essentially about The Mandalorian going on a different journey each week trying to save Baby Yoda. That's it. If that's what pleases Star Wars fans after the civil wars since 1999, than Disney finally accomplished something with this franchise. I just figured fans would expect more.

Re: The Mandalorian: Chapter 10: The Passenger (S2E2) - 11/6/20

I guess it reminds me of those old westerns, Kung Fu or even The Incredible Hulk. It has a main story arc and along the way some fucked up shit happens. I also enjoyed the stand alone episodes of the X-Files too. A good show can do both things.
Although I’m not nuts about bringing back Boba Fett, this show has managed to capture the nostalgia of Star Wars while offering something new. It’s obviously made by people who are fans of the franchise and respect its legacy.
I am curious what’s going to happen when the Mandalorian actually returns the Child home. I don’t know how the show will continue since he is a major draw of the series. Maybe that’s the point and it won’t. Either way I’m going to enjoy the hell outta the adventure.

Re: The Mandalorian: Chapter 10: The Passenger (S2E2) - 11/6/20

I think for me the more simple nature is why the show works so well. It’s just adventures set in the Star Wars universe.

There’s a simple story arc to the show, but it’s not heavily serialized and doesn’t rely on the viewer to watch every episode in order or be lost entirely.

To me, it's better fan service than the last 3 Star Wars films without the baggage of trying to shoehorn in the original characters/Skywalker storylines, while still maintaining continuity within that universe.

Re: The Mandalorian: Chapter 10: The Passenger (S2E2) - 11/6/20

Yeah, I think it suffers from comparisons to other shows which are offering 10hrs of content, but we're still getting 5hrs of SW content at a yearly pace. (so far) They are likely planning to go 4-5 seasons so while it's moving slowly.. we'll eventually get there.
