It's a running gag.

I'm not particularly squeamish but the ending of the last fight with Conquest had me wincing.

Well that was certainly a choice Mark had to make.

About the only choice he could have made. He gets what 15-16 years before any of the children get powers? Plus some of those aliens are to proud to mate and some of the women don’t seem like the motherly types.

I still don't entirely buy the Viltrum backstory as completely plausible but season 4 was excellent. I wish the dialogue was a little stronger some of the time but I get Mark's decision at the end. Having not read the comic, the abortion angle seemed oddly handled and I had to double-check if Kirkman did it the same way in the comics.

I thought the animation was far more even during season 4 with a lot more polish in the motion. This barely looks like the same show from season 1.

What do you mean about the backstory not being plausible

I realize Viltrum is a cheap twist on Superman's Kryptonian heritage but Kirkman seemingly constructed the Viltrum species' history as he went for maximum dramatic effect, mostly on how it would affect Invincible(Mark). It's a background that would have worked better in a one-shot Elseworlds but gets exposed over a longer and more in-depth story. I don't think it hangs together all that well - the lore, mechanics, and backstory he constructed for Viltrum.

Also watching this latest season I realized how important Superman's heatvision would be in battle, seeing the Viltrumites limited to hand-to-hand combat. Gives a Kryptonian a huge advantage if they ever met.
