It doesn't sound like they were even originally planning 3 seasons:

. We have always seen it as some kind of three-beat thing. Originally those three beats were more going to be modeled on what [the British] The Office did, you know, six eps, a special, boom, we’re done. We’ve certainly expanded those beats, but it does not mean that the whole kit and caboodle is getting chucked.

Bill Lawrence has been beating the 3 season drum on Zach Braff and Donald Faison's Scurbs podcast since the first season (and said anything beyond that would be up to Sudekis). I don't think anyone that listed to that podcast was shocked with Ted running for only three seasons.

Maybe it became the plan once they knew season 1 was a hit.

So it's not done?

Ted Lasso returns?! Season 4 renewal of hit Apple TV show leaked by character 'Nate', played by actor Nick Mohammed

I'm currently trudging through season 3 (were different writers involved, cos it's boring?), so I dunno how I feel about this.

I liked didn’t love 3 but welcome a 4 with open arms if it happens.

That tweet from Nick Mohammed reads like it very easily could be a joke. Like, I won't leak spoilers for season 4 (because there's not going to be a season 4). Or joking that he unintentionally leaked a season 4, which isn't happening.

So, massive grain of salt.

If they come back with a 4th season, I hope it is because they have something to say, not because "people want it."

I enjoyed Nick Mohammed's performance, but I cannot stomach his character. Sorry, no redemption for me. At least, he hasn't earned it yet. Ted is a better man than me in that regard.

Curious . . . what do you guys think was the BEST episode of the series?

I really liked Sunflowers (the Amsterdam episode). That episode struck so many emotional beats with me. Maybe it is something about that "night of escape from life" that just gets me no matter what show it is.

I feel like the show wrapped up nicely personally. Anymore will just feel kind of forced to keep it going, especially if Sudeikis is done. I like the other characters but Ted is really the show’s anchor for me and I don’t know how interested I’d be in a continuation without him.

We loved this series but there is no need to bring it back... S3 ended on a perfect note.

It'll end up being season 1 of a spin off, sans Lasso.

A spin-off seems more likely, since Lasso's arc was completed, and he's not in the UK anymore, while everyone else is. It'd be better to continue the ensemble without him, although Lasso could make guest spots on trips to visit his friends.
