The listing on Apple TV+ for next week's episode says Season finale, not Series.

So it sounds like there could be a Season 4, which will be very strong

I finally caught up on this. A bit heavy handed and some odd storylines, but still enjoyable.

It's been a very full couple of episodes in which a theme runs throughout and encompasses 3-4 stories within. Resolution. And now forgiveness. It's rather obvious what Ted's truth bomb is.

I know it's still early, but this week's episode is currently the highest user rating for the show on IMDB, 9.4.

Understatement. Super cringe. Do you know any male adults who lay in their mom's arms like that and cradle them? It would have been o.k. had the scene lasted 30 seconds or less with maybe just a "Hang in there son, you can do it". But it looked super incestuous, and went on forever.

Especially when she asked her boyfriend to take Roy and Keely on a tour of the house and leave them alone for awhile.

Suuuuuuper cringe.

… but when Roy went in for a goodbye hug with Jaime’s mom and they pulled him away, that was funny.

Oh and the two posters in his bedroom. That was funny.

The noise Higgins made when Beard said he would burn the place to the ground if they brought Nate back cracked me up, as did the shot of them carrying a drunk and passed out Will off the bus

I'm pretty sure everyone involved with the show has indicated this is the final season. Perhaps, since it's Apple's most successful show, they simply haven't come to terms with this fact yet.

Yeah, ick to the boyfriend keeping Roy and Keeley upstairs so they could have their love fest. BTW, I got the impression Jaime hasn't been home for a while. Years even. Did he sleep in that room when he did? Keeley is his age, he wouldn't have had a poster of her like that when he was a kid. Also, Jaime has made some serious coin. He can't get his mom a nice house? And last, I wanted to mention this before, I love Mama Lasso.

I always was under the impression that Keely was older than Jaime. I just checked the Ted Lasso wiki and she is indeed 7 years older than him.

Re: Ted Lasso (Apple TV +) -- S: Jason Sudeikis -- From the creator of Scrubs

I loved that Momma Lasso made the exact same mistake Ted did in the first episode of season 1 when Rebecca offered to give her a tour. They both asked to see famous London landmarks, and Rebecca replied "I mean, of the facility."

Beard's revelation to Nate was good. I'm still not sure how I feel about Nate getting his second chance given what a huge prick he was to Ted. I know the story is that he was jus trying to be/act tough when he went to Manchester, but a person doesn't act that nasty for that long if it's not really who they are. Still, I'm willing to go along with the plotline since the show is otherwise so strong.

I also loved the posters in Jaime's bedroom. Roy's 80s hair was I don't think it's too unrealistic for Jaime to have had a poster of Keely when he was a teen - Keely is around 8 years older than him (she mentioned in an earlier episode that she dated 22-year-old footballers when she was 18, and she's still dating them at 30).

Rebecca literally hired Ted to tank the team, not caring about him uprooting his life, or embarrassing the team members or anyone who worked under her just for a personal vendetta against Rupert. She set Ted up for failure every step of the way, including with the press conferences. She hired a photographer to make it look like Ted and Keeley were on a date to piss off Jamie and only took it back when she realized that was too much. Later, she kept up an inappropriate office romance with Sam. I’m probably missing a few things.

Beard would have been insanely pissed at what she did to Ted. The team would have been pissed. But she’s absolved of everything and now best friends with the people she actively tried to screw over.

What Nate did is peanuts compared to all that, so his redemption is not an issue.

Re: Ted Lasso (Apple TV +) -- S: Jason Sudeikis -- From the creator of Scrubs

The difference for many people between what Rebecca did and what Nate did is that Rebecca did those terrible things to Ted before she really had a relationship with him or with Keeley and once she allowed herself to really get to know them, she recognized her folly and sought forgiveness. Nate did his terrible thing after Ted did so much to help him, support him, and be his friend and mentor. I'm not personally in the Nate is irredeemable camp, but I totally understand why some people feel that way. The show portrays Nate's leak about Ted and subsequent lashing out at Ted for making him feel invisible as an irrational, cumulative result of Nate's life experience particularly with his own father. Nate was doing a lot of projection onto Ted from wounds he's carried for a long time. He should be able to repair things with Ted and I think it's pretty clear he will.

There was some great stuff in the most recent episode. That said, I did find the "return from injury to score and seal a victory" trope a little bit eyeroll-inducing.

The half a dozen Wizard of Oz references in the last episode were interesting. Especially considering we know ted is likely going to want to go home to Kansas.

I read somewhere that when Jason Sudekis hosted SNL this season, Brandi Carlile was the music guest and she struck a chord with him... he talked to her about recording a version of "Home" (by Diana Ross from The Wiz) for this episode. She said yes, and here it is:

What a brilliant fucking episode. Not seeing Jaime actually get the goal and just a shot of him and then teammates was just inspired and gave me goosebumps. Just a great all around episode. And, thus the penultimate is done. One more left I guess. But, at least they’re going out on top for once. Been a brilliant season. And, if final, a great way to go out.

I agree with those who thought this was one of the better episodes, certainly of this season. Keely was even back to being useful for more than who she is having sex with.

Makes me sad this is over. Such an uplifting show. When a show makes you evaluate shit in your own life, it has done a great job.
