Yeah, a bit of a slow start but moody and great looking. I have no idea what the case is going to be yet, but I am glad they showed why Mason is not going to stay practicing civil law.

This is such a good show. It’s certainly not action packed but it’s always so fascinating to watch and the episode just flew by.

It’s also visually stunning. The attention to detail in the early 30s sets just looks so authentic.

The first episode was a good set up. Perry has a conscience and he’s obviously already fed up with his clientele.

Sean Astin is getting a little pudgy. I think they aged him a bit but I almost didn’t recognize him.

In the preview for the season there's a shot of a baseball stadium under construction - I wonder which one it was? Since the show takes place in the 1930's I figure it's a flashback to the original Wrigley Field that was built in the 1920s. No way is Dodger Stadium since that wasn't finished until 1962.

Well moving a MLB team to LA is the dead guy's only focus.

This 40 minute podcast interview with Matthew Rhys is really entertaining.

Great second episode. It changed gears a little from the first episode but it was nice to see where the focus of the season was going to be.

Perry is always entertaining when he’s in court.

“Well, can you at least ask him to be realistic? They’re going to blend in in Mexico and THEN go on a killing spree?”

A much stronger start than last season. I'm really enjoying it.

Yeah it's a very good show. The sets are really amazing. Loved that they built a Hooverville in LA. And then they can just throw in a cameo from Sean Aston, Hope Davis and Gretchen Mol without any fanfare. This show has to be so expensive. I hope they don't cancel it -- putting it on Monday nights was a concerning sign to me, like they feel it's a second-rate show to them. Maybe it is compared to Last of Us and Succession, but it's a really good show that I hope they continue to support.

With Last of Us finished I would not mind it going to Sundays now.

Man, is this show so good. Tonight’s episode has a big twist that really changes everything and sets up a back half that will be very different than any Perry Mason case we’ve seen before. I loved it.

"I'll suck your dick for 25 cents"

"I'll give you 50 cents to not do that" and then he gives her the 50 cents

Yeah that was great.

And then having the hot teacher come over with a French Dip and booty call? Perry's day is getting better.

I'm going to have to re-watch this episode as I was multi-tasking with it on in the background. Not the type of show you should watch with anything less than your full attention.

I had to do the inflation calculator and that would have been a $5.50 blowjob in today's dollars.

On one hand, times must have been really rough during the Depression.
On the other, paying a strange woman $11 to not blow me? That has to be a blow to her ego.

Getting a beej while watching a newsreel about Emperor Hirohito is some next level kink.

Yeah, times were tough. I think one of the following scenes after that was the partner going back to the dude that he rented the guns from and getting called the N-word. Once he asked him if he wanted a home cooked meal, dude was practically his best friend. Even let him have two beers.

It was also a semi-crowded theater.

I liked it too. Finally getting good courtroom drama.

I didn't understand the ending with the toy train. Was that supposed to be a treat to Perry about his son?

A treat or a threat? It's the latter.
