I know it’s a pipe dream but I’m hoping the show gets good again whenever they decide to kill Negan. These last 2 seasons have been terrible and I don’t know if the show jumped the shark altogether or it’s the whole boring Negan plotline?

How many are (at least as of now) planning on watching these final 8 and then calling it a day?

this show only really works when they are constantly on the move. it needs to be Kung Fu with zombies.

Whatever happened to "Talking with Chris Hardwick"? It was supposed to run when he didn't have to do Talking Dead, but nothing during this last break.

They'd just move on to the next "big bad" and repeat the same plot over again.

Find a place -> Big Bad threatens group -> Defeat Big Bad only to have place unlivable -> Look for new place -> Repeat.

Maybe they need to introduce aliens?

Re: The Walking Dead (S8E09) -- "Honor" -- 2/25/18

Well, they killed Carl and the show has dogged themselves into a deeper hole. The last 2 seasons, after the whole Negan killing Abraham and Glen, have sucked. It has been pointless, directionless. A lot of the stuff from the comic book haunt's translated well at all to the TV show. Carl had become the future of the show and how the producers did him after he purchased a home and agreed to go to a school nearby, shows how fucked up this industry is and the lack of loyalty to actors. Kirkman better start coming up with the ending for the TV show cause I don't see ratings going up anytime soon.

Longest. Death. Ever.

Morgan has them in the crosshairs at the window when they're shooting walkers to make a path, why not take out a few of them?

I thought the same thing at first then I figured he was waiting for a bigger target (Negan) and didn’t want to give away his position.

What was the deal with Rick sitting under a tree bleeding at the end (also the opening too after rewatching that part, but wasn’t fully shown)? Was that a flash forward or something?

I just don't get writing Carl out unless there was some bad blood behind the scenes. It would have been a game changer to have him recover from a bite.

Bad narrative choice imo.

Am I the only one that thought the scene with Rick sitting under the tree implied he had dreamt/imagined the whole Carl's death business?

Almost like they're going to "Dallas" it away?

I’m not reading anything until I finish watching this episode, but what the fuck?! Morgan just Mola Ram-ed a guy by reaching into a bullet wound and pulling out his intestines. I wasn’t expecting it, but I think I have just flipped and am officially hate-watching this show now.

Was thinking the same thing, otherwise this episode just might as well be the "Series Finale".

He is wounded in that scene, possibly in the same spot Carl was bitten. What was up with the stained glass windows hanging in the tree?

How fun was that “Carl’s Bucket List” montage!?

Re: The Walking Dead (S8E09) -- "Honor" -- 2/25/18

So Negan lives in Carl's vision of Utopia? Yeah that ain't happening.

At least they addressed what was up with those flash forwards with old Rick and everyone else.

I at Morgan tearing out that guy's intestines. Where did that big wound come from? He was shot in the upper part of his chest.

I did think Carl's death was well acted by Lincoln, Riggs and Gurira. However, I don't expect anyone here to have any emotional resonance to the episode. Seems like most now are just sarcastic hate watchers now and don't give a shit about any attempt at drama now.

What? Where the heck did you get that from? I took that scene as a sequence that takes place at a later time. Rick was holding the note that said "Dad" which Carl gave him. How would you even interpret that?

"hate watchers now and don't give a shit about any attempt at drama now."

What drama after ending on his death scene MONTHS ago. Kinda hard to have any drama when they leave it hanging for months. The shock is gone and everyone has had months for it to sink in. Just shows hot total shit the writing and show running is , glad most of you have woke up. This show has sucked for years.

Re: The Walking Dead (S8E09) -- "Honor" -- 2/25/18

Hollywood reporter:

"In the final moments of Sunday's episode, we see a bleary-eyed Rick Grimes leaning against a tree in the middle of a field, bleeding out from a wound. We have seen Rick injured in the past, but have we ever seen him this injured, series-opening coma aside? As if there's any confusion, Lincoln confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that the image of Rick bleeding against a tree isn't a vision or a trick of the imagination; it's very much grounded in reality, much to viewers and Lincoln's own chagrin.

"I was very worried," the actor tells THR about his first reaction to reading the final scene of "Honor." "Especially when we did the makeup test and I said, 'He looks like he's lost quite a bit of blood. Do we want him to be this white?! Can we make him look like he's got a pint of blood in his body?!'"

The show doesn't warrant the emotional response. It's a comic book zombie show with an inflated opinion of itself. The writers think they're writing BAND OF BROTHERS or something.

Having a character die after 8 seasons on The Walking Dead in no way warrants an emotional response anywhere near what you feel when Gus dies five hours into Lonesome Dove for example.
