Talk about absolutely ruining an episode, nothing was worse than this. This was the chance to end it, right then, right there, Negan on the ground on his back, Rick above him, and.....he hits him in the mouth and stares and jumps out the window and runs. Just unreal, and beyond horrible.Originally Posted by Coral
So you've knocked Negan down and have the baseball bat in your hand - and all you do is butt-end him with it, and then wait for his reaction? Take a big swing downward and smash his fucking head in!

Anyway, I'm at a lost with regards to the 'flash forward' in the premiere episode, which showed Carl in it. I wonder if Future Rick is going to be something akin to Jacob's Ladder.

Yeah, I don't read the comics, so read a huge spoiler in the article. Fortunately, this show is so bad, it's no longer a big deal.Originally Posted by starseed1981

Regarding Negan, Rick didn't even have to hit him with Lucille. He could've just dropped and crushed his windpipe. So ridiculous...

My god the plot holes.... i wonder if the ratings for this show are in the tank at this point. The least captivating mid season finale in a long time...

Can't remember, is this the first time someone from Rick's group got bit since Tyreese?

That would be cool IF they did that. No zombie movie that I am aware of has shown that. Someone would be immune based on numbers they would have to be. The Last of Us is the only thing I have seen that addressed it. And for this show would be a good swerve. Originally Posted by Red Hood

But do agree with everyone here. As much as I am invested in this show and let it entertain me and try not to be negative towards it; this fall finale was pretty bad. For all the Saviors to magically escape and be in place or catch up to the convoy was pretty poor. I won't get into the Negan-Rick fight as those shitting on it are spot on.
I loved how the garbage pail kids cut and ran the second there was trouble.

Well, on the bright side it is looking like the second half of the season will possibly conclude the All Out War arc. Kinda upset about how they handled it because I've been looking forward to it since it showed up in the comics.
#37
Stupid idea to do this. There's so much left of his story in the comics that I was looking forward to seeing play out. Regardless of how they are trying to spin it this is purely for shock and ratings value. Plus I feel that now there isn't a good reason for Rick to spare Negan at the end of the war. Way too much of a departure IMO.

28 Weeks Later addressed that situation. (Arguably not zombies, but comparable IMHO)Originally Posted by d2cheer

No, the actor was blind-sided. His father is complaining because his son was supposedly promised at least three more years by Scott Gimpel.Originally Posted by starseed1981
Didn't see that coming. I guess Chandler is going to college or something.

So to anybody reading the comics... will the show ever be good again? Do the comics offer anything promising or TV-worthy or are we in for a Negan do-loop of "move here, fight that baddie, move there, fight that zombie"?

This will never happen. Like I said in an earlier thread, Gimple is AMC/Kirkman's choice because he does what he is told. Most likely he was told ratings are starting to go down so depart from the comics a bit.Originally Posted by edstein
This show is going nowhere. Someone needs to fire Gimple ASAP.
Hilariously, Mazzara got chewed out by most fans for killing Andrea and Lori, which were the two most hated roles on the show, and then he got fired for it.

So we know that a zombie bite doesn't give one the "zombie virus" since everyone is already a carrier and will turn when they die whether they got bit or not. Theoretically, a zombie bite only leads to a quick death due to all the bacteria they carry. Maybe the one that bit Carl was relatively bacteria free and he could live if he got the right meds? A freshly "born" zombie wouldn't have that much bacteria. Or are they saying that any zombie, old or new, automatically has something in their system that causes death in all cases?

The tv series roughly follows the plot of the comics, though I find the comics to be generally superior because there's always forward momentum with the story. It doesn't "play to the finale" like the tv series does, and every issue ends on some kind of cliffhanger or beat that makes the reader want to read the next one.Originally Posted by Rob V

I will say that after Negan is dealt with, they come into conflict with another group that is very different from either Woodbury or The Saviours.
And, after that, we're moving onto... something else. Next month with #175, actually. I don't know if this new thing is going to be a threat or something benevolent, though I'm hoping for the latter just to shake things up. Whatever it is, it looks like a game changer.

Oh no, I CLEARLY remember the show getting a lot of flack during S3 for killing those characters too quickly. Neither Mazzaro or Kirkman have ever spoken about the reason for the firing, but the big rumor was Glen M. wanted to push the Prison story forward quicker while AMC wanted to be cheap and continue using the set they built for some time. They milked the hell out of the governor arc.Originally Posted by Bill Needle

Most of the actors/actresses who were close friends to Darabont were killed off or left on their own, which isn't a coincidence either.

All zombie bites are, for whatever reason, fatal. It could be from bacteria they carry, or something that acts like a venom that keeps them propagating.Originally Posted by windom
