Man, there are some absolute debbie downer smells in this thread. Anyways, amazing episode, one of the best of the show. Some people need to stop eating carnation instant bitch for breakfast. I'd like to know what type of shows you're all watching. Maybe move on to other shows if it doesn't please your elitist standards. This is one of the greatest shows ever made, glad i've been able to see this unfold.
With DVR, OnDemand, Streaming it's impossible to talk to anyone who is on the same episode anymore. Last nights episode was the definition of 'water cooler' talk and it's something I miss in today's tv landscape.

I am amused as hell that people still nitpick this show over silly stuff about Dany's military strategy or how deep the puddle was when you're perfectly fine with the fact she just won the battle riding in on a motherfuckin dragon.
At some point, just accept the entertainment value and enjoy it. There are plenty of shows that try and get all the tiniest the details right, but GoT has never been one of them.
Yeah, I want internal consistency as much as anyone, but even I realize we're just watching, as Ian McShane put it, "a show about tits and dragons." lol

This is one of the last shows that everyone still watches at the same time and it was fun as hell talking about last nights episode with everyone in work today. Nobody said hello at work today as we just said, "Dragons!!"

Loved it too, definitely a top 5 episode for me.
I, like most others recognized Daenerys' flawed attack too but didn't get too hung up about it. I realize it's a TV show and they have to string it along.
But after seeing everyone here see and call out her tactics, maybe this is foreshadowing her downfall. She doesn't really have a "military" leader on her side. She has the pieces but no leaders. Maybe Jorah will return and get them organized. And how old is she supposed to be now, early 20's?
I thought my boy Bronn was going to be toast. And the poor guy dropped his gold. Not sure how it couldn't be him saving Jaime at the end. He saw the white horse walking along without a rider.
Dragon fire is very very hot.
Was there something in the past about a foretelling of someone dying by Valyrian steel?

What's funny is that the second this episode was over, I almost immediately forgot about it. It was exciting and thrilling, but there was no meat to chew on. Unlike previous seasons, it was all surface. Which is fine, as some see it as "payoff". But the episodes no longer work on their own like good dramas do (Wire, Mad Men, Sopranos), it's become more of a soap.
Conversely, last night's Rick & Morty, which I watched right after, had me thinking about it for the next 24 hours, peeling away layer after layer of all the depth packed into it's 22 minutes, which was focused on it's own theme, rather than being just a part of a whole, which is what GoT has turned into.

Ok, I watched it again. I'll take back what I said about Bronn going for a wounding.

Upon reflection, I still find this episode good from an entertainment perspective, but I totally understand some of the criticisms. One thing I noticed D&D made a point to discuss on the after show was that Dany is now aware of the presence of the device to kill dragons and how it's going to affect her tactics. Of course that could just be a way to save money and have her bench them for the rest of the season.
FWIW, I think Dany is starting to believe her own hype. I saw in a clip for next week

Someone said earlier in this thread (don't remember who) that Bronn was only going for a wound of Drogon. What would he do that and not go for a headshot?

No idea who it was. If only the person that mentioned it had posted about it recently. Like say, 2 posts above yours.

Agreed.
I'm still enjoying the hell out of the show, but it's a shell of what it once was, mainly due to the writers/show-runners pandering to the audience and no more GRRM material to draw from. The show has gone Walking Dead-level dumb with its resistance to killing off major characters (a hallmark of earlier seasons) and its complete ignoring of a geography (that they even highlight in opening credits). Between the hurried pace, the lame and out-of-character one-liners and quips (which is all Davos seems to be used for this season...despite taking shelter at a place where he witnessed Stannis's daughter being burned alive...where the hell did the gravitas go??), the geography fails, the shitty acting, and the overall smallness of this season, I'm enjoying it a lot less than prior year installments.
But having said all that, it's still the most entertaining show on TV (perhaps ever).

so the dagger LF gave to Bran (who gave it to Arya) is the same dagger LF held to Ned's throat right?
If so I could see Arya recreating that scene with LF

That "books" explanation makes no sense (edit: not saying it didn't get explained that way in the books, but it sounds like Tyrion/Jamie were just speculating, and I don't think that is the correct answer). I always assumed it was Cersei, but Littlefinger is certainly a possibility.

Has to be the most epic Dragons scene ever created,

If you want to have fun, watch the jousting tournament from Season 1 and compare it the scene from last nights episode. We forget how low budget season 1 was.

Can't believe some of you guys didn't make the "Chaos is a Ladder" connection. Do you guys forget other amazing Littlefinger lines like "play with her ass?"

Not that I would've made the connection, but I couldn't even hear/understand emo-Bran when he said it.
