I think I agree with you. I thought this episode had something good for all the characters to dig into. It even managed to balance the comedy with some more serious moments. The show feels like it's hitting its stride.

I love this show. It's like EBAD with a little more heart. You can tell Gamby actually feels for Dr. Brown. Stinks that it's less than 20 episodes, but I'll take 18 episodes of great tv over 4+ seasons of typical network tv.

Last episode was, bar none, the best of the season. This show keeps getting better. Lee's interaction with his wife and mother in law is comedy gold. I could watch a whole show of his life at home.

Holy shit. I love how Gamby is so conflicted between screwing her over and helping Russell.

I'm guessing the current principal won't last much longer, and then we will have Gamby vs Russell.

I understand the emotional conflict you speak of, but isn't screwing Brown over and helping Russell the same thing?

Wow! I expected the finale to be a little bit more subdued. It was like the rest of the season, all over the top. Perfect.

I can't wait for next year!

Re: Vice Principals (HBO) -- S: McBride, Goggins -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 7/17

I heard an interview with Danny McBride towards the beginning of the season, and he'd said that people were going to be surprised by where they take this series. He was not wrong.

The last few episodes have been really great. It sounded like a lot of people bailed on the series after a couple episodes, and that's too bad for them. I'll admit it started out all over the place but it ended strong. Next season should be nuts.

The only thing that bothered me was Russell admitting to setting fire to her house. That's a felony that you can do serious jail time for - it's not something you'd admit to someone, ever, much less the person who's house you set on fire. But I guess the plot needed him to do that...

It looks like it was a male high-schooler (or an actual hitman?) that shot Gamby, so will be interesting to see where they go with this.

Yeah, she could of said their video is nothing compared to them setting her house on fire. She would just have to live with the humiliation and they would end up in jail.

Otherwise, good finale. Looking forward to next season.

Solid season. It has alot more heart than I thought it would...and that's a good thing. I'll be back next year.

Shooter could've been Russell - he didn't respond when Gamby pinged him on the walkie-talkie, and this could just be his way of getting the sole principal job without having to share it with Gamby.

He probably even borrowed his mother-in-law's car that day just to blow it up.

Another great episode. Even though you knew it was coming, every second Gamby and Russell celebrated their apparent triumph the tension was building. The longer it took, the worse you knew it was going to be. Yet even then Gamby getting straight up gunned down was a surprise. I wonder how surreal they will get in the next/final season. Could see some pretty crazy stuff.

I just assumed it was Russell... it's obvious he wanted to screw over Gamby when he was pinning the ideas of what they did to Belinda on him. However, Russell did respond to Gamby's walkie-talkie alert - he was surprised to hear the cars were on fire... but I'm sure it was just an act.
