The higher level I think. He averaged $31K per win. Getting to $30K under the old scoring was extremely rare IIRC.

Goldberg74 05-26-05 12:25 PM

Here's a breakdown of the winnings:

Ken Jennings played 75 games for a total of $2,522,700. Then he won $500,000 for his 2nd place finish in this tourney.

Grand total: $3,022,700

Brad Rutter was an undefeated five-time champion in Season 17 as well as the winner of three special tournaments, the 2001 Tournament of Champions, the Million Dollar Masters Tournament, and the Ultimate Tournament of Champions.

Grand Total: $3,270,102

Now I have one more question... are they going to do a "2005 Tournament of Champions"? If so, then Ken has a shot for $250,000 more and that would put him up over Brad's total.

But I doubt Ken would want to try it again.

I bet he would. I would think he would want to be the "all time" holder and get over Brad's ..He's done the tv commercials, his game that's coming out, as well as his new TV show.. I imagine he's going to get all the publicity he can get..plus more $ (not that he's spending it like crazy) ..If I were him I'd want to come back as often as possible..

Probably true, though I don't think ABC would've wanted to risk Ken getting eliminated early in the tournament and have three "unknowns" in the final game(s). With KJ guaranteed a slot in the Finals, they can guarantee big ratings.

I blurted out Cooper and Shepard, and griped about how easy they were making the FJ questions for this tournament. I was much quieter later.

Jeopardy 10/8/05 "That's a man, baby!"

I'm not sure if this is a rerun or even if this has been discussed before, but is anyone watching today's Jeopardy? There's a female contestant named Val playing and I'm willing to bet my left **** that she/he's a man (transvestite). Bad blonde wig, huge jawline, deep voice, terrible makeup. Something's not right here. Please tell me that someone else is watching this and agrees. :o

mikehunt 10-08-05 07:06 PM

did they win?
if so I'll watch on monday
if not, anyone have pics?

Rockmjd23 10-08-05 07:19 PM

It's Ken Jennings trying to get more money.

Seriously, I think KJ could pass for a woman pretty darn easily. I'm talking Dave Foley easily.

Smilie face aside, you're 100% right.

cdollaz 10-10-05 12:02 PM

I saw this episode last night and I was wondering the same thing.

RoyalTea 05-09-06 06:53 PM

when final jeopardy wants one of two possible questions for a single answer

and you decide to be a smart ass and write down both questions, you should lose for being unable to follow directions.

Joe Molotov 05-09-06 07:02 PM

Alright, I'll pull some strings and see what I can do.

pinata242 05-09-06 07:10 PM

You're right. He always says "One of the two" or whatever, right? If you list more than one, even if all correct, that's still an incorrect answer/question.

DeanoBKN 05-09-06 07:22 PM

I agree. Let's fight the power!

Groucho 05-09-06 07:39 PM

People like that will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes, I'll tell you what.

Wazootyman 05-09-06 07:45 PM

It could affect them. If they write down two answers but only one is correct (even if they list that one first) then they will lose. If they're both right, who should care. C'mon, it's not like choosing a dollar over in The Price is Right

still have never understood that logic.

on the price is right, if you are $1 over, you lose? so a guy who bids $1200 on a $1199 item would lose to a guy who bid $1?

what the hell?

Charlie Goose 05-11-06 03:35 PM

Bidding under the price is like paying that amount for item, which is good. If you bid over the correct amount, you are paying more for the item than you should. Therefore the price is wrong, bitch.

GuessWho 05-11-06 05:14 PM

PiR is about getting a bargain. If you pay $1 over retail, NO BARGAIN!

So what are you referencing (what was the answer)?
If the contestant were to put "or" between the two parts, it would make it correct to list both, e.g.:
A: One of the two other car manufacturers in the Ford family of products.
Q: What is Lincoln or Mercury?

However if "or" was replaced with "and" that would be incorrect.

What's really funny is when someone bids say $500, then the next guy thinking he's 'the shit' bids $501, but then the next guy after him bids $502. The guy in the middle just fucked himself.

Everytime I see that I think they got what they deserved!

On a related note: I always thought it was funny on Win Ben Stein's Money, when someone answered in the form of a question...pissed Ben off!

They do that to avoid ties...If the price is $500, and one person bids $400, and another bids $600, they're both $100 away from the price...that would be a tie, and you'd have to have both of them play the game...Although a good tiebreaker would be to give it to the person who was under the price...

Yeah but the first guy is still a poor bastard.

Okay, not exactly about the episode in question, but there's a rumor that something big happened on tonight's jeopardy. Did anybody watch?

I thought the returning champion might have done what he did on purpose and caused a first for the show.

Spoiler:
It was a three way tie at the end of final Jeopardy. All three contestants won $16,000!

ooola.
Spoiler:
what does that mean for the next show?

paulringodaman 03-16-07 07:27 PM

Spoiler:
i thought he did it on purpose as well...or he is extremely incompetent and forgot to add the 1 at the end of his wager......

all three contestants will be on again!!!

and to make matters more interesting, he didn't have fingers...more like claws???

Charlie Goose 03-16-07 08:31 PM

Did Alex Trebek take out his "signalling device" and cover the podium with spooge after that happened?

calhoun07 03-16-07 09:25 PM

No pics yet? What does a guy have to do to get some pics around here?

I was hoping the big event tonight would be that all three contestants were freaks. The one guy had claw hands, I would have bet money that the guy on the right was going to turn out to be a midget*, and I was thinking the guy in the middle wold step out from behind the podium and reveal some mutant deformity.

I'm kind of a morbid individual. :)

*Not that being a midget makes you a freak...I'm just sayin'
