If it gets Joe Buck removed calling MLB games, Jeopardy can have him.

Who have all the guest hosts been? I haven’t kept up, but I saw a few of Dr. Oz’s. He seemed like a bit of a condescending prick.

These are the ones who have actually aired so far:

Ken Jennings
Mike Richards
Katie Couric
Dr. Oz
Aaron Rodgers

what's wrong with Joe Buck? he's a great sports announcer, great voice. why not? i think he would be perfect...

I personally don't mind Joe Buck. I don't understand why so many average Joe sports fans despise him so much. I don't know if he's good at hosting a game show, but he isn't trash IMO as an on camera talent and broadcaster.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion

He's an outsider. Jeopardy is a pretty geeky show that has general appeal but really tends to the nerdy. IMO I think Ken Jennings or LeVar Burton would be the best pick. I mean come on why don't they have that set up yet?

But the scuttlebutt has Joe Buck as one of the front runners for taking the gig. Apparently he has 50 (?) shows to tape as apposed to most other guest hosts who have only done 10?

Where did you hear this? I can't find anything that says he's recording 50 episodes; everything I've read says not to expect more than about 10 episodes from him, the standard duration for other guest hosts.

Aaron Rogers seemed to genuinely enjoy himself and got along with the contestants.

I take back what I said about Aaron Rogers fiddling with his wedding ring at the end of the first episode being evidence of his being nervous. He fiddled with his ring at the end of every episode, even towards the end when he was noticeably more relaxed.

Not a really reliable source. Some article on FB so take it with a grain of salt. I guess we'll see soon enough.

There’s really nothing wrong with Joe Buck. He’s a decent enough PxP guy but he is crazily over exposed.

There was a stretch last year during the World Series that he was on every single night for nearly a month straight on probably 4-5 different sports.
It’s too much.

Yeah I think I remember that stretch. He was doing Sunday NFL, baseball playoffs and Thursday Night Football. He is overexposed and probably overworked. He has two small kids in addition to his adult children. He must get no sleep from FOX baseball season to the end of the Super Bowl.

And he even worked golf on FOX during the summer and people groaned seeing him on that coverage.

... I've only heard of two of those people.

Anderson Cooper is doing a great job. He comes across as smart and affable. I liked that he recognized Neuschwanstein and pronounced it with ease.

I haven't been watching, but he seems like he would be a good fit. He's whip-smart and his deadpan mien is second-to-none. On the other hand, I think Burton might be great as well. Aside: I went to Neuschwanstein as a child in 1986. I had a fever and wasn't feeling well, so I took a dip in the chilly tarn next to the castle.

Buzzy Cohen, the 2017 ToC champion, is hosting this year's ToC.

1st match was last night and the guy who won was super annoying and arrogant.

Buzzy Cohen has been my favorite host so far.

Re: Jeopardy! Discussion

Jeopardy! needs to have a single host. The focus should be on the game, the quality of the clues, and the caliber of the contestants themselves, not the host. They're playing this hosting game, and it is greatly detracting from the overall quality of the show.

I haven't watched since Alex's death... I also know that Alex was irreplaceable, and the show will never aspire to the same level of excellence ever again, and devolve into frivolity. So, I'm done, after 36-37 years of loving Jeopardy. (the first 8 or 9 years WITHOUT logo bugs!).
