Re: Shows you're surprised are still on?
Cops is still on the air somewhere, right? And Cheaters?
Also, most daytime shows: soap operas are a dying breed, but there are still lots of game shows and talk shows. For instance, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is still on, isn't it?
As far as prime time shows, I am surprised that Scorpion was doing so well.

With daytime soaps, the question is when will they completely die out. Some people industry think the remaining soaps will eventually go to the online format. There was online production that Prospect Park did for One Life to Live and All My Children for awhile. Some soap fans loved watching the new format. But there were problems behind the scenes and both shows ended again.

Carrie Underwood has 4 multi platinum selling albums and a greatest hits collection. And she did win Idol as mwbms said.
I think you confused Her with Kat McPhee. Carrie is kind of a big deal in Nashville and probably bigger than Kelly Clarkson in album sales.

I literally just started with this show a week ago and it's pretty craptastic - I had absolutely no idea it was still an active show - I'm barely making it through season 1 - I like Tim Allen though and there's your answer right there.

In the case of South Park, even though I don't watch it regularly there's still episodes that are amazing and as funny as anything they've put out in the past which is pretty darn impressive.

Big Bang Theory.
I know it draws millions and millions of viewers every week, and I'm embarrassed for each and every one of them. I just don't get it.

Greys Anatomy, CSI, Survivor, Amazing Race, Hell's Kitchen, The Bachelor, All NCIS series, and American Idol to name a few.
I hate it that 30 Rock and Parks & Rec are gone but those shows are still on the air.
SNL is a institution like 60 Minutes and no way will NBC let it go if Lorne leaves.
The show is bigger than Lorne.

Procedurals are perfect background noise while surfing the net. Hawaii 5-0 is fun, ridiculous, but fun enough to watch when there's nothing else on the DVR.
Still love CSI. I'll be bummed when that ends. Scorpion would also qualify as a procedural and that show's a blast. Blacklist, season 1 is a hybrid that is great.
Point being, seems pretty naive to write off an entire genre. Even reality tv has a few gems amongst the shit.
I dunno, he doesn't write any of his books so it might be closer than you think.
SNL died years ago.

Two Broke Girls - My sister told me she likes this show so I watched a couple episodes and found it terrible. It seemed like the whole episode was the characters constantly spouting humorless insults. I could probably deal with it if they were funny, but they just seemed mean spirited without any laughs.
Grimm - I don't watch it. I don't know anyone who watches it. I don't hear any buzz about it on the internet or on TV and then I'll see or hear an ad or something about an upcoming episode which surprises me that it's still on.
That said, promos for it look pretty good. I've just never tuned in to watch it.
