Grey's Anatomy. It seems like it should have ended in 2010 or some shit.

I have wondered about that one too. I see Shonda Rhimes' Scandal also lasting too long.

On a related note, some ER fans have said that show lasted too long. Medical dramas like procedurals does have some leeway to continue by replacing leads. I can see why ER managed to go on after Anthony Edwards, George Clooney and few others left. Grey's Anatomy differs a bit because of the main focus on Ellen and maybe that could be way that show seems dragged out.

Have to go with the obvious ones here: The Simpsons and South Park. I haven't watched new episodes of either for about a decade now.

This is the show that I have no idea how it's managed 11 seasons and still running! It's not connected to a major brand, has been jerked around by The CW for years on the schedule, only two original cast members remain, and has been coasting on fumes for several years.

This... I thought it ended years ago.

I actually think it'll be weirder when shows like this aren't on anymore to be honest. The Simpsons in particular is such a staple show that its going to be huge when it finally ends.

2 Broke Girls...seems like same jokes over and over.
Never really paid attention to Mindy. It was OK when I saw it but nothing compelled me to see it again

Goldbergs is GOLD. Love that show, one of my favorites

2 Broke Girls - Amazed this has any staying power. Love Kat Denning's naked boobs but her sarcastic shtick got old after 2 episodes. A houseplant has better delivery than Beth Behrs. Plus 2 jokes about anal sex in the same episode? How low can you go?

2 1/2 Men - Was amazed that stayed on. It had a few laughs but the charm and charisma that Sheen brought was long gone.

99.9% of any of the reality shows. Not sure of the allure. Especially the ilk of the Kardashians. Why am I supposed to care about a chick that got famous cause she banged a black guy and video taped it? A lot of chicks do that. Its called porn.

I think it's easier for animated shows to keep going because the actors can work separately and from remote locations. I don't know how long it takes to record voices for a typical season, but they probably don't take much time away from other projects the actors may want to pursue as a live-action show would.

Unless you meant it is surprising that the shows' creators have been interested enough to do it this long (in spite of the money). Although with the way SP is structured with a 10-week block now, Trey and Matt get a lot of time to do whatever else they want.

It's more of a surprise that they just haven't shut it down and lived off the money re-runs will bring everyone. At that point it's all profit and little investment. In the case of THE SIMPSONS, it's a little surprising they haven't ended the series in favor of a big screen movie once every year or two.

It would have been one thing if they pulled the plug on it a long time ago in one of the show's down years but obviously that didn't happen.

Yeah, Supernatural is another one. Back in college the show was starting out, and I had an ad in Rolling Stone about it, where when you opened the page, it would start talking and there was a 30 second ad for the thing.

I ripped it out and put the circuit on my door, and my roommate and I would make it go off a lot. We made fun of that ad, and still laugh to this day that the show is still on. Still haven't seen an episode.

This was the mention I was going to give - I mean I like the show and all and I'm technically not surprised that's it still on as I know why but it's so generic (both effects and storywise - just a very generic feel to it).

I think what saved Superntural was a couple things. 1) For awhile it was really the only horror show on TV. 2)The show was pretty well written, had a good mythology and didn't take itself seriously. 3.) Adding Mischa Collins to the cast.

Person of Interest: Not because it's a bad show(I like it a lot) but the show always seemed way to smart for CBS's audience.

Hawaii 5-0: Seriously, this show's so goofy and somehow it survived going to Friday nights.

American Idol: With The Voice becoming "the" singing show to watch, I can't see how this is still on. Especially since the only winner of the show who really hit it big was Kelly Clarkson.

Cops is still on the air somewhere, right? And Cheaters?

Also, most daytime shows: soap operas are a dying breed, but there are still lots of game shows and talk shows. For instance, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is still on, isn't it?

As far as prime time shows, I am surprised that Scorpion was doing so well.

I too am surprised at Grey's.

Yeah, Scandal is so tired right now.

Doubtful. SNL is bigger than Lorne Michaels. No way NBC just lets it die when he calls it quits.

i'm not saying it can't go on, but i think he will take it off when it is time and NBC will let him.

I really doubt it. NBC isn't just going to say "okay we'll take it off the air just because you're leaving Lorne". At this point its one of their longest running shows and a big part of their weekly lineup (whether the show is good or not). I just don't see them not continuing it after he eventually departs.

Survivor. Didn't pay attention but I thought that crap had ended after 4-5 seasons.
