Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

Seems like Hallmark is having sales more frequently across several platforms. I for one am happy about this. Buying my favorites. Love being able to watch these movies without commercials.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

New Vudu sale on fall-themed titles.

I’ve dug into two movies each in the Martha’s Vineyard and Mystery 101 series. All of their mystery series involve a police person and a talented outsider, presumably to keep things lighter than a straight police procedural and to give the audience someone they can better relate to.

In Mystery 101, Jill Wagner is a crime-fiction prof who adds a bit of a comic element. I’ve said previously that she’s just ok for me, but I really like Kristoffer Polaha. I’ll watch more episodes when they air next weekend.

I avoided Martha’s Vineyard at first because I find Jesse Metcalf a bit smarmy, but he’s not bad in this, and it has a little darker tone. I think they’ve only made the two movies so far.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

Just a friendly reminder the official pre-Countdown To Christmas films have already started as the Fall Harvest originals are now airing. This past weekend Follow Me To Daisy Hills aired and I enjoyed it. Once of my all time favorite Hallmark originals is actually a Fall Harvest film, it is called Pumpkin Pie Wars and stars Julie Gonzalo...for some reason I love this movie and watch it at least once a year since it first aired several in 2016.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

Really good sale. For the last two years I waited for a Fall movie sale. Ended up buying my favorites for full price on iTunes a while back. Lots of really good movies. I recommend Pumpkin Pie Wars, Midnight Masquerade, Harvest Love and Autumn Dreams. Thanks for posting this sale.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I decided on Love, Fall and Order from that $4.99 sale on Vudu. The story revolves around two lawyers falling for one another while one is fighting to save her Dad's Pumpkin farm. I remember Erin Cahill as Ted's Sister on How I Met Your Mother.

Looks like iTunes is also selling some of these Fall titles for $4.99 too!

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I actually haven’t seen many of the fall movies, though Moonlight in Vermont was probably my first non-Christmas watch a few years ago.

i just saw Harvest Love. Jen Lilley is one of my faves, and she has her usual “aw shucks” charm, but I think she’s better in her later movies.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I think Lilley generally picks the best scripts of all the Hallmark leads. She avoids most of the lamer concepts without a decent hook. The only Hallmark star with a better batting average would be Bridget Regan, but she's appeared in far fewer Hallmark movies.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I believe the second Fall Harvest film aired this past weekend and it was an enjoyable film. So far so good, as I do love that we are getting original Hallmark content. I also like that the main lead actress is not someone we have seen in a jillion other Hallmark films. It is always fun to see some fresh faces.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

Pumpkin Pie Wars aired the other day and I enjoyed it, so thanks for those recs. I keep expecting the Vudu sale to end, but it’s still around. I haven’t bought anything from it yet.

Follow Me to Daisy Hills checked every slot on the Hallmark bingo card, but that’s not a bad thing. I liked it, and the dude was completely unfamiliar to me.

I also watched Love Under the Rainbow, which was also good, with an especially adorable kid.

Vudu sale will prob end Mon night. Their sales have sometimes now been going two weeks. Anyone like Midnight Masquerade? That's another favorite. I like Autumn Reeser a lot too. E
And Christopher Russell is handsome.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

Seeing interesting pricing via my Amazon Prime account. I am seeing certain Hallmark titles for $3.99 HD. The original price is crossed out. Titles have changed after a few days. I have a zero balance for my No Rush Rewards so this lower price is not due to this. I am wondering if they are offering Prime Members discounts on certain titles. I went back to get one title Beyond the Blackboard that was $3.99 yesterday but it's back to normal price today. I was able to by a few titles HD Hallmark titles specifically Christmas at the Palace and Miss Christmas for $3.99 HD.

Perhaps these are PRIME DAY movie deals. Titles for sale seem to be changing daily or every few days...

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

Not Christmas related but the sister channel Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has original Sunday night films back in the mix. Things are popping over at Hallmark and H Movies & Mysteries with original content taking center stage as the holiday season starts to get into full swing around us. This past weekend we got Picture Perfect Mysteries and I think next weekend is a new Aurora Teagarden.

This year's Hallmark Channel Countdown To Christmas movie marathon starts on Friday morning at 8am EST.

The marathon on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries starts a few hours earlier on Thursday night at 10pm.

The first new Hallmark Channel movie is Saturday night at 8pm. And the first new HM&M movie is Saturday night at 10pm.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

It's insane to me that we are now on the verge of Christmas movies timewise and that we are almost into November! Need the cheerful distraction of these movies badly!

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

The world would be a much happier place if every channel quit their normal programming and ran Hallmark Christmas movies for a couple weeks.

Their Fall line-up seems to get shorter and shorter with each passing year. Pretty soon it will begin in July and end in August.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

Liked Jingle Bell Bride and tried to record Christmas Tree Lane but the movie on the Philo DVR for Christmas Tree Lane is another movie from last year. Will have to re-record.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I could be wrong, but it feels like this years initial batch of Christmas films used to kick off the season this past weekend were a bit stronger than some films I have seen in the past. I let out a sigh of relief after watching Jingle Bell Bride and said well that was a nice strong film to get the ball rolling with all of the films that will be coming down the pike. I also thought that Chateau Christmas was a quality film. So far, so good, and we are just getting started and I am loving it. Even Lifetime Network had some fun films available to watch.

Agreed. The writing, films themselves and acting has gotten off to a much stronger start. The Fall Films were underwhelming and there was a miscast lead or two in those films. I really enjoyed Jingle Bell Bride. I have yet to see any of the other films.
