Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas
I was in Walmart today and they had a "Christmas in July" display of dvds. As I said earlier dealing with the shit world we live in currently, some feel good entertainment might not be a bad idea this weekend. I decided on a triple pack dvd that includes "A Veteran's Christmas", "Home for Christmas Day", and "Christmas Homecoming". They are all military themed and I haven't seen any of them so it felt like a good dvd to pickup.

I saw this display too. Bought these three digitally on Vudu at Christmas. These are good ones!

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas
I don't know how if this is true but Hallmark will have its usual number of brand new movies premiering in 2020. 23 movies on the Hallmark Channel and 17 movies on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.

I don't remember what I paid for these on Vudu..but you got the better deal price wise...I just don't have the room for anymore physical media. I only want to buy digital movies. Curious to know what you think of the movies...

A Veteran's Christmas I had on but wasn't fully paying attention to it. I like the leads Eloise Mumford and Sean Faris from their previous movie together Christmas with Holly. Home for Christmas Day staring Catherine Bell is notable for the drama around her daughter and the guy who she met who was on active duty. The drama around that was gut wrenching to watch. I haven't watched Christmas Homecoming yet. I like all three of these movies were made for Hallmark Movies and Mysteries as they are a little different from the usual formulaic Hallmark movies.

For what it's worth, mk1...my opinion of the films is pretty much in-line with BlueLites, I think on this site someone said that the chemistry between Eloise Mumford and Sean Faris in A Veteran's Christmas did not work but I respectfully disagree as this is actually one of my favorite Hallmark films (regardless of whether or not the film is Christmas themed or not), especially in the sub-heading of Hallmark Movies that involve the military. I have seen this film I believe at least 3 times in its entirety.
I have also seen the Catherine Bell film at least twice as it is one of the better ones.
I had to google Christmas Homecoming and unfortunately, that is the one out of the three where when it was over I may have said to myself out loud that this film should have been better than it was...love the cast (a cast member from Buffy and the male lead who was great on Saving Hope) but it just fell flat for me.
If you end up purchasing all three because they are bundled together imho you still get a good value for your money.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas
I usually pay $4.99 or two for $9.99, but because we both have the same combo, it was probably some kind of three-pack for less. I know sometimes I’ve bought two- or three-packs in the 2/$9.99 deals.

I usually don't go above $5 for these movies either and yes all three of these Veteran's Christmas movies are a good value for the money. E Glad you both enjoyed them. I did as well.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas
Just watched one of the new ones, Romance in the Air, starring Cindy Busby and the Lake Tahoe scenery. Pretty by-the-numbers, but there’s a twist ending!

Had to turn it off before the very end. Liked the twist just not the writing (execution of it). Thought it was unrealistic and the dialogue was cringe worthy.

Romance in the Air was a bit of a swing and a miss. At first I thought the bland but nice guy was actually married to Cindy Busby's friend in the film until I was clued in that he was Busby's main squeeze. It is nice that the film director tried not to create a situation where you wonder why a guy is being kicked to the curb for someone else when the guy being dumped does not seem to be a particularly unsavory character by having him end up with a cute girl after all but yeah...the execution felt a bit off, like this happy ending resolution for the guy was a bit rushed. I did not particularly dislike the film but with some hindsight I think you kind of nailed why the film did not entirely work mk1.
On the other hand, I kind of liked Love On Harbor Island which just aired this past Saturday. It helps that I have this TV crush on Morgan Kohan ever since I watched all of When Hope Calls. It was also in my humble opinion a noticeably better film than Romance In The Air.

My DVR is erratic and I haven’t been able to catch Harbor Island yet.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas
Vudu has two Hallmark double features on sale right now.
Hallmark 2-Movie Collection: A Winter Princess & Winter Love Story (Bundle) for $14.99
Hallmark 2-Movie Collection: Paris, Wine and Romance & Rome In Love (Bundle) also for $14.99
These are good choices...FandangoNow has these same two bundles for a $1 apiece less.
Many here on this forum have said they really enjoyed A Winter Love Story with Jen Lilley. Both bundles feature her in one of the movies. I ended up buying both bundles..I especially love both of the two Winter movies.

I agree that the ending felt kinda out of the blue, as I could only remember a couple of the “clues,” but I admit I often watch these in the background as I work.
I do the same.
