You can pretty much guarantee the reason for the shift in Robin’s character is because the idiots in charge don’t have enough confidence in the character due to him being made into the butt of jokes for so long (much like Aquaman). It’s unfortunate that that the character has to be changed to appease the public. Robin is supposed to be lightheaded, this makes him look like Batman-lite.

Batman has killed in every movie he has been in. Robin can't snap a neck or two?

Edit: it’s obviously Dick, it shows the sign at the beginning for The Flying Grayson’s.

Now I WOULD pay 7.99 a month to see streams of people losing their shit over changes to characters that DC has made.

Eh, I have better things to spend my money on. Already don't have the time to watch what I already pay for. Hopefully Warner releases these shows on DVD or Blu-ray (likely through their MOD program).

Re: Titans -- coming to DC Universe
Why is it so hard for DC to use their own fucking source material? Haven't they learned that the "dark and gritty" formula they use doesn't work at all? And who the fuck though that having Starfire look like a common hooker would be great? Or that Dove, the character that symbolizes peace, looks ridiculous smashing someone's face to a bloody pulp?

Since it's TV-MA, the Titans can't watch their own show!
Not sure what I think. I'm OK with edgy and dark and new takes on classic characters, but sometimes you want something a little brighter. Not everything has to be angsty and woebegone.
I agree, I don't really like Starfire's look, at least in the trailer.

Grayson, who I’m fairly certain this is based on. Jason and Damian are assholes I’m well aware. Dick and Tim really weren’t and I’m pretty certain that I read this is supposed to be Dick.

DC's New 52 reboot of Nightwing wasted no time introducing us to a more violent, vengeance-fueled Dick Grayson. Vol. 1, #1, Traps and Trapezes, opens with Grayson beating a baddie to a pulp, leaving his symbol smeared in blood on the villain's chest. Then, the story - which revolves around Grayson revisiting the circus that he grew up in - kicks off. What an introduction, right?

So if you-preorder the year it's 75 and they give you 3 months extra at no added charge, so that's like $5 a month. That's a terrific deal.

Pretty much anyone is going to tell you the New 52 is one of the worst runs for a lot of characters. So okay, if you really want to pull from that era. Makes as much sense as anything from the DCEU (which is also largely New 52 influenced). By and large Dick Grayson as Robin/Nightwing is known throughout most of his run as being a more light character than Bruce/Batman. Just about any comic fan will agree. Just because there are different interpretations of a character out there doesn’t mean those other interpretations are any good. From this trailer Robin is acting far more like Jason Todd or Damian Wayne, which isn’t the version they’re basing the character on.

Comics are cannon. Every movie, tv show, cartoon and video game is an elseworlds or Earth 7462.

You are certainly free to not like this interpretation of the Teen Titans, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

Not all, but a lot:
The service will also go beyond streaming video and include a massive comic book library. It won’t include the company’s entire back catalog, but it will be a select offering of 2,000 to 3,000 titles. These can be read on a phone, tablet app, or television.

Not just select titles, but the included series will also be rotating in and out.

The point is that comic book characters, especially long-running ones, go through MANY different interpretations. Just look at someone like Batman - what’s the “good” version of Batman? The silly 60s version? The TV show? Frank Miller’s? I mean, if Batman was portrayed as an alien from Krypton, then that wouldn’t be Batman. The only box you really need to check off is “vigilante who dresses up as a bat.”
You are certainly free to not like this interpretation of the Teen Titans, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

DC is good at doing this lately. It’s like they don’t get it, they want to sell fans on buying this new streaming service and this show is a big selling point, but this isn’t what fans for the most part want. Read reactions other places online and you’ll find I’m not the only one taking issue with this. Robin, like Batman shouldn’t be killing people is a major thing and shouldn’t be this angry/emo Batman hater. You can do an adult take but not change those elements of what makes his character. The only box they’re really checking with this version of Robin is how he looks, which he looks great and that was a big part of why I had some excitement for this.

I get the point about multiple interpretations I really do, but when you change a core element of the character that breaks it off from the source material and is completely something different is when I take issue. Why even bother saying a character is a certain person that fans know and like when you make changes to the character that you know will piss a lot of your fanbase off?

He's a former teenaged sidekick who for whatever reason doesn't feel like he needs his mentor anymore and strikes out on his own and forms a team. They kept his origin story. He's acting as a mentor/big brother to Raven. And he'll probably learn via the mentoring or whatever that hey, Batman wasn't so bad (despite the slaps). But I dunno, we'll have to see. I still see the Starfire design as much, much worse than anything the trailer revealed so far, that'll take some getting used to.

Re: Titans -- coming to DC Universe
I think if they had shown Robin with that attitude towards Batman (I still think the “fuck Batman” line is unnecessary though) but also showed him maybe making a smartass comment or something as he was taking out a villain or thug (not shooting but maybe punching or kicking) I wouldn’t have a problem with it as much. As is this seems to be taking the same shitty approach the DCEU has been taking, which is stupid because the people in charge of this stuff should know by now that approach hasn’t been going over the best.
Also I agree about Starfire’s look as well. The Robin thing just stuck out to me more as I actually have been a fan of the character for a long time.
