Beast Boy is supposed to be a teenager as well. Starfire in this show is supposed to much older than everyone else.

This was happening way before NTT. It started in the early 70's when Dick went off to college. He was already hating on Bruce in his solo back up stories in Batman.

This is getting terrible initial buzz. I guess quality doesn't matter when they're so lacking for content, they just renew it anyways.

Review roundup. The 1st 2 episodes from what I understand were made available for review:

The only one who outright hated it was the reviewer at Collider.

Re: Titans -- coming to DC Universe

People seem to praise Starfire's portrayal, and by far she's visually the weakest to me, visually, so that's intriguing. I'm cautiously optimistic. Not enough to go out and subscribe or anything, but I'm a big enough Titans fan that I want this to be good.

Not a huge fan of how "adult" they've seemingly made it. The NTT run was dark but it wasn't a bunch of mass murdering and

genitals stabbing
done by the good guys.

Interesting since Kory is the most naive in the group. (Yet, she looks like a hooker.)

Oh, if you're a fan of that version of Starfire, you're not going to like how her storyline apparently starts out.

On a side note, she was naive but her iconic costume is anything but puritan. I just hope she loses that terrible coat and actually gets powers beyond being a flamethrower.

I never liked her naivete all that much and it felt like this forced fish out of water thing that Dick took advantage of. But when she had to go head to head against Blackfire... she wasn't so child-like after that.

I hope there's another outlet I can use to view this Titans series. The Wolfman/Perez run is also my favorite. It was the first series of DC Comics that I collected from around the introduction of Brother Blood.

Are you not in the US? Netflix picked it up in other locations.

Otherwise just bite the bullet and subscribe for a month once it's all out.

Re: Titans -- coming to DC Universe

“Batman is a killer and Robin wants to get away from that,” Thwaites said. “The idea is that he doesn't want to become a killer himself. And although these guys that he's fighting are bad and they deserve, you know, they deserve what he's dishing out, it seems, he believes that when you kill someone you crossed the line and you become almost as bad as them, so it’s pretty clear in the series that he was with Batman, Batman crossed the line and he was teaching me to do the same thing, and he’s trying to break away from that.”

Didn't Robin kill someone in the trailer? It's reported he stabs someone in the balls in the first episode too. This is sounding more and more like a very strange show.

Re: Titans -- coming to DC Universe

Save yourself some grief. This isn’t cannon. It’s an elseworld take on Batman & the Titans like Gotham.

There are/were so many elseworld takes on all these properties.

From what I read they are using some of the original plot from the New Teen Titans storyline (1980) minus the Deathstroke subplot.

Robin stabbed someone in the balls in the 1980 comic?

If they make everything not-cannon then it's not Batman, Titans, etc, etc. I have no problem with that- just say up front what it is. If they did I probably missed it.

Man you hardcore comic fan boys...always nitpicking and losing your shit if something isn't exactly translated as you read it.

You obviously don't know the difference between a plot and a story.

They are using the Trigon plot but it's so obvious they are telling the story in a different way.

Well considering this service is probably largely catered to those fanboys and a lot of them are probably the early supporters..

Also because WB/DC are so guilty of this over the last five plus years and rarely to positive results.

Re: Titans -- coming to DC Universe

Batman has 80yrs of backstory. To have Batman be a murderer is to take away his one single motivating factor.

Hey, they want to change the character, go right ahead. But as I said, it's not Batman anymore, it's something else. Make Batman a murderer of course the fans are going to be disappointed.

Re: Titans -- coming to DC Universe

It appears that Titans will be the "edgy" show on DC's streaming service. They wanted to hook adult fanboys first for their service. Stargirl is going to have a much different tone.

You'd think the adult fanboys would want them to stick as much to continuity that they know. Either way, I don't really care as long as it's good.
