I'm not much of a Family Guy fan.

But I've never been as grateful for a 2 minute bit as I was while watching the "Laura Bush killed a guy" riff.

There's only one that I genuinely can say I love, and that was Meet the Quagmires.

Everything else inbetween - McStroke, for example - have been painfully unfunny.

This one was chock full of one-liners. That Horton Hears Domestic Disturbance Next Door But Doesn't Call the Police thing... comedy gold. If the rest of the season stays in this direction, I'll be happy.

"Not interested."

"I'm not a meteorologist but it's raining bitches!"

Decent start to a new season

I thought it was a very solid opener. Lots of laughs.

Terrible episode and I love FG.
Only a few small laughs for me and that was it. Very disappointed.

I was a pretty big fan of It Takes a Village Idiot, and I Married One (Lois for Mayor with Jason Voorhees owning and operating Britches and Hose) and PTV (the FCC episode). Actually the last 3 episodes from Season 5 rank among some of my favorites (No Chris Left Behind, It Takes a Village Idiot, and Meet the Quagmires). Last season was short and hit/miss but again had a slew I enjoyed (Believe it or Not, Joe's Walking on Air, Stewie Kills Lois/Kills Stewie, and lesser extent with Peter's Daughter and Play It Again Brian).

Not saying they've all been quality, but I've enjoyed numerous post-canned eps of the show. This ep just felt.. long.

Ha kinda funny the guys who have hated post cancellation liked it and the ones that are fans post didnt. Consider me a like it. Ive thought most every episode after they came back have sucked, and the only reason i watched this one was nothing else was on. The line "Youll make a great lover" had me on the floor. Classic Stewie and Brian.

dadaluholla 09-29-08 03:31 PM

I prefer the post cancellation episodes of FG, but that may be because I've seen the earlier episodes so many times that I'm getting sick of them.

Lateralus 09-29-08 05:46 PM

I remember there was a rumor that they would do a Star Wars movie each year, I guess that is not the case. :(

SexualPudding 09-29-08 06:35 PM

According to tv.com, "Something, Something, Something, Dark Side" (the ESB parody) will be this season's finale.

Rex Fenestrarum 09-29-08 07:21 PM

Hated this episode, too.

Come to think of it, I didn't like many episodes last season, and I've absolutely hated every post-strike episode. Maybe the whole FG premise is wearing thin for me? I dunno.

JohnSlider 09-29-08 08:05 PM

I hate the post-cancellation episodes, but this one made me laugh a few times. I'm just not sure I'm ready to love it again though. :(

chino77 09-29-08 08:38 PM

im another one who hasnt really liked family guy after it came back. but i thought this was a great episode.

Family Guy -- "I Dream Of Jesus" -- 10/05/08

"I Dream of Jesus"
Spoiler:
When Peter re-discovers his love for the painfully annoying yet seductively catchy tune The Bird's the Word, Brian and Stewie decide to take matters into their own hands to ensure that the song will never be heard again! On the verge of tears, Peter goes to every record store in Quahog to track down his beloved jingle, and he runs into a familiar face and ends up hanging out with Paris Hilton and Perez Hilton.

Apparently, the birds the word.

I need to watch Office Space again.

lol, I like how they played that through the entire end credits.

kstublen 10-05-08 09:19 PM

This episode was hit and miss for me. I loved everything involving Peter and Surfin' Bird, but the Jesus bit got kinda tired after a while.

Don't bother with Office Space because of this. (would have been more relevant with the "damn, it feels good to be a gangster" wording).

For whatever reason, I thought the episode was horrible, but yet I laughed several times.

Just saying, I feel like watching Office Space again.

Episode felt like something out of season 1 which more or less isn't a compliment, but it was better than that piece of shit last week.

slop101 10-06-08 12:23 AM

For me, I thought the first segment was probably the funniest 10 minutes of Family Guy ever - the whole Surfin' Bird thing with Peter just killed me for some reason. The rest of the episode however, meh...

antennaball 10-06-08 01:07 AM

I laughed pretty hard when Stewie put the gun in his mouth. The Jesus plot was pretty lame, though.

My thoughts exactly. Thought the beginning was really funny, but the Jesus stuff wasn't that great. Though I can't get Sufin Bird out of my head. I'm downloading it right now.

Also, maybe it's just me, but thus far this season it really has not felt like it has had half as many cut aways as there normally are. The Marley Matlin one was funny (though the references to 300 and Last Mimzy makes me think this epsiode was made awhile ago), but there were way too few in this episode I at least thought.

Completely agree!

Charlie Goose 10-06-08 07:09 AM

I had no idea that the bird is the word.

In the majority here, the Jesus stuff was okay but the bird song was very funny. Especially when Peter is screaming it at the audience.

Giantrobo 10-06-08 08:41 AM

Peter setting up everyone so he could segue into the song was hilarious.
