I liked it. I thought it was better than their version of Empire.

Loved the speeder chase!

So we get "Yub Nub/Celebrate the Love" here, but not on the Return of the Jedi blu-ray?

I liked the Seth Green references. Between this and Entourage, he really must be comfortable with himself to allow the jokes at his expense.

For the record, Sex Drive is better than Family Guy has been since the return.

I didn't care for Sex Drive too much but oddly enough the only parts I did like were Seth Green's. He was hilarious in it.

My favorite line from this episode: Artoo: "Remember that laser I used earlier to cut Leia's chains? well here comes a tiny saw!"

I thought the speeder chase was HILARIOUS! Herbert's line about "Oh, I see you got a new hand. Let's take that for a test run." was great too.

Beyond that, a lot of smile/chuckle moments, particularly the Seth Green ragging and the Seth vs. Seth thing at the end. Not a bad episode at all.

Hopefully they're done with their Conway Twitty phase.

This show just isn't funny anymore. They have a smaller universe than the Simpsons so they ran out of stories quicker. Simpsons started to peter out about season 13. This show is just barely watchable anymore. They shouldn't have played the entire video. They have just run out of stories and this is why they keep relying on these time travel episodes. I will not be watching next season.

I loved Stewie's comment about Roger "What have we ran out of all of our characters already?"

Family Guy -- Season Premiere -- "Powerball Fever" -- 09/25/11

Powerball Fever"
Spoiler:
Peter blows his savings on lottery tickets and the family writes it off as one of his usual shenanigans until they end up millionaires. (FG-901) (TV-14 D, L, S, V)

Voice Cast: Seth MacFarlane as Peter Griffin and Carter, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin and Quagmire; Alex Borstein as Lois Griffin; Seth Green as Chris Griffin; Mila Kunis as Meg

Guest Voice Cast: Christine Lakin as Joyce Kinney; Adam West as Mayor West; Judy Greer as Showgirl Dancer.

Wow, 30 mins I'll never get back again. Truly sad from a once great show.
I keep hoping the show is coming back to form. The opening gag in the credits even seemed promising but practically nothing (with the exception Peter entertaining the troops with Bruce Jenner and the dumb blonde in the TV lottery segment) made me laugh. A couple of laughs but a couple is not enough.

I honestly think this show has abandoned the clever jokes aspect and decided to push the one of tastelessness/shock value .

Re: Family Guy -- Season Premiere -- "Powerball Fever" -- 09/25/11

I laughed out loud several times but it's more hit or miss than ever. A lot of the jokes are a little too familiar and too many gags are offensive without being funny. I'm still watching for now but I don't look forward to it like I used to.

Re: Family Guy -- Season Premiere -- "Powerball Fever" -- 09/25/11

It is unwatchable and it was unwatchable last season. They just don't have as deep a bench of characters like the Simpsons, so they've run out of things to do.

I actually liked a good chunk of last season

I'm beginning to feel tired of this show. Got a few laughs from the Star Trek goat sound effect and the Scoorge McDuck coin dive - but as you can see, those were spoofs, not original material. We get less and less of that each season.

Yeah, I think she actually has a pretty incredible body, so idk where they were coming from with that... it's not funny if it isn't true.

RichC2 09-29-11 08:10 AM

Re: Family Guy -- Season Premiere -- "Powerball Fever" -- 09/25/11

They made a crack at True Blood on the Cleveland show a while back, I believe it was:

“Can you stop by the movie store? I think there was a mix-up. These DVDs say True Blood, but they're just some gay guy's nightmare.”

with two shirtless vampires hissing at each other.

...that joke actually made me laugh and was fairly legitimate. This one didn't make much sense and wasn't really all that funny, and I agree she has a great body on her.
