I hate shows that cut away for some bullcrap.

I thought the Kool-Aid guy reference was probably the best use of a reference they have ever done so far so I have to disagree there. "Oh no, oh on, oh no" Kool-Aid guy busts in, "Oh Yeah!"

i thought this episode was funny in how it made fun of itself. the whole "i hate shows that cut away", and the argument between Lois and Peter when he makes a horrible analogy. You expect them to show the analogy like they always do, but they just argue about how it made no sense. I liked that.

That was the first episode that I ever saw of Family Guy (I can't remember if it was the pilot or not, I think so) and I admit that was probably the hardest I ever laughed at any Family Guy joke.

But after I saw the FG format of the references they got old quick.

This is what bugs me about "The Simpsons". They feel like if they actually write dialogue that points out the show's current shortcomings, they'll be seen as "witty", as opposed to actually having to fix the problem.

Different strokes, I guess. The randomness of the references i.e. the Griswold family, is what makes it even funnier to me.

Excellent ep

Even if I got the references (actually , they aren't even references, it just blatantly swipes something from the past), it is so mind-numbing, how the humor is just the same redundant joke over & over & over again on this show. The lack of intelligence in the writing & ephasis that the viewer is nothing but a television-raised vegetable makes my soul bleed.

Oh PUUUUHLEASE! It's so easy to oversimplify the show like that.

Your hatred for the show is also too funny coming from someone who loved The Devil's Rejects, which was a steaming pile of shit with shitty writing, shitty directing, shitty acting, shitty characters, etc. That movie was a waste of time and celluloid, but you loved it and that is ok. Every episode of Family Guy is brilliant compared to that Rob Zombie POS, IMO.

Some people just have no sense of humor and instead of admitting this they usually go into denial and insult the series and/or its fans. If you like The Devil's Rejects or House of a 1000 Corpses.

BINGO! That's what makes it funnier to most people that enjoy it. That's WHAT makes Family Guy Family Guy.

Boondock Saint 10-09-07 09:21 PM

I also enjoyed The Devil's Rejects...

vwbeetlvr 10-09-07 10:11 PM

is this the first episode that bonnie talked in a while?? Her voice changed so i assume it isnt jennifer tilly anymore

LorenzoL 10-14-07 07:39 AM

FOX is airing this episode again tonight.

NORML54601 10-17-07 01:16 AM

I missed this the first time. The portrail of Texas was great, and Brian shooting the superdevil had me rolling.

RichC2 10-17-07 07:12 AM

You know, I saw family guy on TBS HD and swore it actually was in HD (in part thanks to the fact the colors were way better, lines cleaner, and end credits really sharp and small on the left hand side of the screen.)

Was the episode where Peter goes to Washington and they kill a stripper. Family Guy in HD, who knew.

The Valeyard 10-22-07 01:19 AM

Wow. I just watched this on Adult Swim and there's an entire sequence that never aired on Fox where Quagmire kills the entire Simpsons family off screen. Holy cow, it wasn't only unfunny (IMO) but it was pretty shocking (again IMO).

Mhepburn20 10-22-07 01:40 AM

I also caught this tonight on Adult Swim and didn't remember the Quagmire bit from the original broadcast. It was really, quite terrible. The only thing Valeyard left off is it starts with Quagmire's attempted rape of Marge. Attempted rape and then murder... real funny. :thmbsdwn:

Oh yeah! I think I was still numb after seeing the bit and forgot to mention it. There's pushing the line and then there's "Not cool." This definitely was "Not Cool."

Yeah, that really threw me for a loop. Obviously, FOX cut that bit out on the initial airing. I agree, "Not Cool". That left a bad taste in my mouth, and we're talkin' Family Guy here.

NitroJMS 10-23-07 06:19 PM

http://clipswtf.com/4813/funny-video...s-The-Simpsons

There's the segment in question. And yeah, it's not funny and not in good taste, even for Family Guy.

dadaluholla 10-23-07 08:01 PM

It's unfortunate that it wasn't the characters of American Dad that he slaughtered, but it wasn't THAT bad.

RichC2 10-23-07 10:56 PM

Total crap episode.

Charlie Goose 10-24-07 08:23 AM

That Simpsons bit was odd, since Family Guy is usually so sophisticated and done in good taste.

Yeah. It reminded me of the time they told the Aristocrats joke on Hee Haw.

 It aired during the original broadcast up here (on Global).

My wife and I both felt it went beyond shock comedy into "not funny" territory. Pretty much started there with the whole "rape them until they like it" bit with Quagmire and Marge. My boundaries are pretty far out there, but this still managed to pass them. :|
