Gary Dourdan would beg to differ. He's declared bankruptcy again. (Although he was basically kicked off the show.)

Yeah, that was all on him. Some people can't handle money properly. He was still pulling $14,800 per month ($177k/year) when he filed for bankruptcy.

Seriously? A drug problem? That's a shame.

But I'd bet (some) money that CBS will have a new series starring George Eads as a mid-season replacement for 2016.

Finished the last 2 episodes tonight.
If this is truly the end of CSI, it wasn't the worst episode to end on.
Yes, Julie's fate is uncertain with her being in a coma, but she isn't dead. But, nothing was left hanging about her.
The season long arc was wrapped up. Mark-Paul Gosselaar was actually really good in this role. I hope he gets another chance in a lead role on a TV series in the future.
Nick takes a long overdue promotion with CSI San Diego. The little montage at the end with some memorable moments was a nice touch.
Sure, there was no Grissom, Brass or Catherine, but I think with this show's fate being in question all year long, the writers did the best that they could to end things decently & with some closure for long-time fans with a little hope that they could get 1 more year.
If CBS miraculously gives them 1 more year like they did with The Mentalist, I hope they make every effort possible to get William Petersen back or even Marg in some form. That would be the best scenario for a true wrap up.

You'd never heard that before? It was *everywhere* when he very much got kicked off the show because of it, and nothing else. There's a reason why the writers didn't just kill him off so there'd be no returns, but disgraced his character before they did. I imagine they wanted the image the audience was left with of him to be as negative as possible, writing him as poorly as they could manage before 86'ing him once and for all in the CSI-verse (although, at the last second, after a season of dragging Warrick through the mud, it gets revealed he was "set up")... because of the apparently ridiculous, indefensible situation Dourdan caused and the issues he brought with him on set.
The guy had a hardcore drug issue - I believe with coke, if memory serves. He made Sheen look like a functioning addict - constantly coming on set blitzed out of his mind in the end, what few days he showed up. Needless to say, CSI producers/CBS were extremely, fantastically pissed off with him. I'm surprised he's only bankrupt and not deceased, honestly, based on what I recall reading at the time. That he's still alive is something of a miracle.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar was a fantastic villain.
The tribute to Nick, while brief, was fantastic. Rare for this series. I forgot, did Peterson get a send-off?

Not quite official yet, but CBS may bring back CSI: for a 2 hour wrap up movie next season. They also want to bring back William Petersen as well.
There was a report the series was cancelled, but it's still not official yet.

Not surprising, but why not just do a limited series run, like 10 episodes or something? I guess scheduling? But better than outright cancel and hopefully they can bring Petersen back. kind of wish they can resurrect Schreiber's character from the dead as well. Was only like a 4-5 episode stint but he was great.

William Petersen signed on as a series regular on Manhattan on WGN America. They just started shooting season 2 last month. He probably won't be available until later this summer depending on how fast they finish shooting. So CBS is probably waiting for him to become available if I had to guess.

CBS this morning confirmed that CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will end its 15-season run with a two-hour finale, featuring original stars William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger. The two-hour movie will air Sept. 27, the first Sunday of the season. Additionally, current CSI leading man Ted Danson will be transitioning to new spinoff CSI: Cyber starring opposite Patricia Arquette as a new regular. After concluding that CSI and CSI: Cyber could not both exist on the schedule next season, CBS’ Nina Tassler said the network considered various options for a sendoff to the mothership series, including a six-episode order, but she said that didn’t have the event feel a two-hour finale would have. (I hear the idea to go out with a two-hour finale came from CBS Corp. CEO Les Moonves).
It is unclear yet whether there will be casting changes on CSI: Cyber in light of Danson’s arrival, Tassler said. The series, which had a so-so freshman run, had been expected to undergo creative tweaks heading into Season 2. Danson and Arquette’s characters already have a history together as CSI: Cyber was introduced in an episode of CSI last season.

I'll definitely check out the series finale; glad they got Petersen for it. Also, I actually like Danson so it's nice to see his character go on even if, IMO, it'll likely only be one or two seasons.

I've said, and posted it before, but I wish CSI ended when Petersen left. My dream series finale for this show would have been 2 episodes each season dedicated to an elusive, brilliant serial killer... and the team was just never able to solve it. It would go on for years, season after season, and get increasingly frustrating for the team because they could solve everything else. Then, finally, in the series finale, the reveal was that that elusive perp was Grissom all all along. TWIST!

I wonder if Eads will come back for the finale. I know he just left, but don't you think they could talk him into just one more episode?

I'm gonna miss CSI. I'd like to follow Danson to cyber, but man that crossover and the pilot episode were dreadful. Maybe they'll retool it a bit.
Glad we're getting some closure though.

Having Danson transfer to Cyber is an easy way to bring Grissom back to Vegas.
Yeah, if they said Danson was replacing Arquette then I'd be there, but if she's still the lead I don't think I'll be tuning in.

Cyber is sort of their peace offering so they don't can the entire franchise in one swoop.
Maybe they can get Tarantino back for the movie. I wasn't a fan of his episodes but why not.

They want to make Danson the co-lead with Arquette.
CSI suffered 2 years of ratings drops with Laurence Fishburne as the lead, plus his character wasn't even the boss. When they hired Danson along with Liz Shue, the show got rejuvenated creatively IMO and got a ratings boost. I think they're hoping for the same here.
CBS actually just dropped Peter MacNicol as one of the leads. He was Arquette's boss on the show. I assume DB will assume that role now.
Regarding the finale, they need to bring back Brass and Nick to close things out. Going to be interesting to see how Grissom and Sara mesh since there characters are divorced. I never liked them as a couple.

Yeah they never made sense as a couple. That was so bizarre. I tend to ignore that aspect of the show when looking back on it.
They absolutely have to get Nick and Brass back.
