Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion
Have any of you seen the PBS show Market Warriors? Much better show. Dealers/ collectors have the job to go to a flea market and, depending on the theme of the show, pick items for a auction. The one with the most profit wins. Fills my need for this type of show. So long Storage Wars but man Imma gonna miss them tittays.

I thought there was a thread on Market Wars but didn't see it now. I believe those shows are at least a year or so old and recall some mention of it also being somewhat staged. Too bad many/most of their items lose money at auction.

I bet Barry shows up in a later episode as a gag.

It's getting harder to watch, not because of the intros but the value on some of the items are getting even more ridiculous (esp in a recent episode with Rene and some crap furniture).

Dan is in deep trouble...
http://www.tmz.com/2014/06/20/storag...sm-auctioneer/
"Storage Wars" auctioneer Dan Dotson was rushed to a hospital in Palm Springs Monday afternoon after suffering a double brain aneurysm ... and doctors said he only had a slight chance of survival.
Dotson's wife Laura Dotson tells TMZ ... Dan woke Monday morning around 1 AM asking weird questions in his sleep -- and when he got up again around 7:30 AM things took a turn for the worse.
Laura says Dan complained about having double vision and not feeling right -- so he went back to sleep. Dan got up a few hours later to take a shower, got out, and collapsed.
Laura says he turned blue, so she worked with an 911 operator to administer CPR.
Laura says Dan actually suffered two aneurysms -- one behind the eye and another in his neck the size of an apricot. He was given a 4%-20% chance of survival.
Luckily his surgery Tuesday afternoon was a success ... we're told he's doing better than expected but he's by no means out of the woods.

Damn that sucks. I stopped watching the show a year ago but I always liked Dan and especially his wife
I hope he makes it through and that he doesn't suffer any side effects.

He didn't seem that old, that is a shame.

Update from TMZ.
The double brain aneurysm emergency that almost killed "Storage Wars" star Dan Dotson has been chronicled for all to see ... we're told producers actually filmed the scary surgery.
Laura Dotson tells TMZ ... producers rushed to the hospital to film the procedure-- and it will more than likely be featured on Season 6.
We're told Dan's blood pressure has returned to normal levels ... and he suffered no paralysis ... good news, because doctors feared partial facial paralysis.
As we previously reported, the surgery was a success -- and even though Dotson is doing better than expected, his hospital stay will be long.

That is horrible news to hear about Dan. I hope he pulls through just fine. How old is he and his wife anyway?
I'm just catching up on the DVR and was amused at the Barry look alike. I wonder what the point of that was. The show really hurts without Barry on it. I'm not a super huge fan of his new show either.

Deadliest Catch filmed Phil's stroke and time in the hospital. He wanted it filmed.
Anyway, good news.

"Storage Wars" star Dan Dotson made an important life decision after suffering a double brain aneurysm Monday ... he's giving up on smoking cigarettes for good.
Laura Dotson tells TMZ her husband immediately decided to quit smoking after he woke up from a successful surgery on Wednesday -- because doctors said it would greatly reduce the risk of a repeat incident.
We're told Dan's excited to finally be smoke-free -- he's been puffing for 40 years -- and his 16-year-old son was so inspired by the move, he also pledged to focus on living healthier.

Right, seen it dozen times, they freak out almost dying then go right back to smoking like they always did, 3 months later puffing away.

Two brain anuerysms, one the size of an apricot, is a pretty steep payment, I'd say. If he emerges from this without brain damage it'll be a miracle. Don't forget what a motormouth he is. People suffering strokes and other brain injuries often have fucked up speech from it.

Of course, he'll make his triumphant return next season standing there while Laura does all the auctioning.

Local news report. If this is true, Laura says he hasn't lost any speech ability.
Man, they live in Yucaipa... that's friggin far from OC where they do most of their auctions.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion
I visited the store today. No Brandi, boo.
But I did talk to a store employee who was at an auction this week. Laura put Dan on the phone. He has suffered zero brain damage or any physical injury and has had no degradation of speech. The one behind his eye leaked into the eye a little, but it also prevented the big one in his neck from bursting. Plus everyone was awake. Laura called the ambulance and their teenage son did chest compressions.
The guy said no auctions this coming week due to Fourth of July, but Dan will be back at actions the week after the Fourth. That man is lucky. SOmeone is watching out for him.
As for the store, Jared is finally selling out the Hot Wheels cars.
Look what he's replacing them with:

They got cut off, because I was focusing on the comic books, but he has two rows of Star Wars Episode 1 figures. I will never ask him for stock advice.

So how much for the comic books? Those issues go for about a quarter apiece in bulk, maybe two for a dollar in a random collection.

Didn't check the price.
Anyone see the blooper episode? Some interesting unseen footage, like Dan and Laura getting into a fight and Barry unable to kickstart a motorcycle.
