Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Didn't they sign a bunch of them and tried selling them at a markup?

They signed a few and sold one for $150 on eBay:

You can buy a signed one on their website for $25 each:

They've been selling Hot Wheels cars in the store for a while now:

This Yelp review says the ones in the store go for $1.99 each:

If I had to guess, I'd think that the cars currently in the store in that pix Traxan took aren't part of their original haul, but ones they've bought afterwards, since I imagine a lot of people probably buy the Hot Wheels in the store when they see them, possibly assuming they're the same ones from the show. Hell, they probably specifically order new ones from a supplier just the keep the display filled.

A&E has announced on Facebook that Roy died. I can't find anything to confirm it though.

I think maybe it's Roy Garber from A&E's Shipping Wars. However, I don't see any announcement on A&E's facebook:

Saw Dave Hester at the swap meet last weekend. Didnt go through his crap for many reasons. But his ego is all over the place from banners, popup tents and anything else he can plaster his name on with "As Seen on TV.
I did get a glance at what he had as I passed and it was all junk. Pure junk. Not sure what he was asking for the junk but I know from the show he likes to inflate his shit.
I dont go very often but he is there pretty much every weekend. You cant miss him. He brings along his trucks with his name plastered all over them.

The shows are always so edited but going off his appearances on Storage Wars, I always thought he was smarter at the auction game than the other people on the show. Of course, he also seemed like a jerk willing to do anything for an extra buck.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Premier tonight.

Jarred is sporting a beard worthy of 'Duck Dynasty.'

Looks like they are setting up Rene to be Darrell's newest feud.

Wonder if Brandy and Jarrod's LB store is really doing badly. It was definitely full, but you never know with this show.

Watched the new episodes... meh... like everyone is trying too hard to fill the zany void that Barry filled when he was on the show... I do not see myself watching much longer

Agreed, the new episodes were just painful. The show could survive without Hester. Without Barry? Not so much.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I still like the current cast a far bit better than the ones on the Texas and New York versions.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Well the previews show Long Beach is going down in flames. Not surprised, that city is a dump. B&J should have opened a store nearby, like Tustin or Costa Mesa.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

These are the type of shows where I really don't care if they switched the buyers each episode or just followed auctions in general. I'm just curious what they find not pointless drama of the buyers.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

So now we're supposed to believe that Jared and Brandi (who are broke, according to them) are now bidding against each other and therefore driving the prices up more ? Who writes this stuff ?

The same people who would have us believe that the junk in Darrell's locker was worth $40,000. Trust me, I've tried to sell much of the exact same stuff on eBay over the years and I can't give it away. I'm not saying it's all worthless, but it will take him 2 lifetimes to get rid of it and for no where near $40K.

I noticed that as well. Anyone familiar with that merchandise knows it is not anywhere close to $40,000 in value. It certainly wasn't worth more than 4 digits in value. A lot of that stuff is tough to sell in the first place.

I still like the back and forth on this show and the "characters" are fun to root for, like Ivey.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Prices are often quite inflated. I also heard something along the lines of a prebuilt desktop computer running vista and a price of three hundred. Nope!

And most things can sell, even quickly if and when CHEAP enough. Even then it can be hard on eBay because of shipping costs. Some people hardly even find the item worth the cost to mail it thus making an item worthless to sell.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I don't know the economics of these folks, but we did see Daryl's house, it was full of really fine stuff he'd found, and he said he's been doing this for like 20-30 years, so obviously he made it work. I've visited Brandy and Jarred's store a few times and the inventory always turns over. Well, furniture does. Some crap, like old stereo equipment, is always there. They also waste a lot of room on DVDs, CDs and albums when they should just pack all that shit up and take it to Amoeba Music in Hollywood, which would buy it all off them in one shot.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

yeah, this show is still entertaining, but it's nothing without barry's antics, as set up as they were. plus, having Dave as a "villain" sort of kept it fresh. the new feuds are dumb. i keep watching b/c it is perfect tv to watch before bed, but i don't see how this will last much longer as long as it continues to be as lame as it is.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Here's to hoping Barry's show is cancelled and he returns.

But next week could be fun. It's a special episode just on Brandy and Jared at their home. Looks amusing in the previews.
