Official Storage Wars Discussion

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion
Thats interesting information Traxan, thanks for sharing with the class. I especially appreciate that bit on Barry, as I always wondered about that.
I cannot believe the season is over. I kind of feel like this show should be on with new episodes all the time. Is that too much to ask?? Probably but still. I am not sure how I ended up addicted to this show, but addicted I am.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion
I'm done with the addiction. The constant marathons and so little new shows in a season has really weened me. Here's hoping the break will do me good and maybe they can come up with something fresh to show us. I'm not talking about scripted scenes, maybe some new bidders or new ways to present the auctions. Break up the formula. No need for these zany experts to give an appraisal on every unit one.

One problem is that they run 2 new episodes a week sometimes. It burns through the new ones too fast.
If I was the network programmer, I'd have Storage Wars run through their episodes, then have SW Texas go through theirs. This way, there is a new episode every week for most of the year.

Texas ain't bad. That new girl who actually cleans up stuff and shows us her final product is pretty good.
Vic is just the New York edition of Dave.
They need a Barry. Moe isn't it.
One thing I forgot about my trip to the store. Remember the episode where Brandi talked about donating the blankets? They don't take linens at the shop. Or any clothes. I guess it becomes their responsibility to clean the stuff up for sale and that's just cost. So they take no linens or clothing.

I still wish they'd show more of these guys actually selling the stuff. Anyone can say "oh yea this is a $500 table"... well show them selling it!

No kidding. I'd love to see one of them go on Pawn Stars and try to get even half of what they think most of their junk is worth...

Now and Then is still selling those Hot Wheels cars Jarod bought in S1. The bows they bought and had to restring finally sold but the kayak that Brandi flipped is still for sale. And the accordion they recently found is on display, complete with a tag saying "As Seen on Storage Wars." So some things do sit a while.
When I visited the Pawn Stars shop in Vegas last year, they had that canon from an early season that shot bowling balls. I think Rick paid like $30k for it.

I get a kick out of that. Especially when they come across something you're familiar with, so you know the market value, and the valuation is WAY off. Just makes you think how out of wack the rest of the suggested values are off.
It always kills me when they find something like a portable grill, and then say it's $50, when you can get one BRAND NEW for $25.
I agree with those that thing the Texas girls who buy things and repurpose them are a neat addiction to the show. I buy the values they come up with much more since they're creating new things and can set the price for what they think their new creations will sell for.
It was a little depressing seeing Moe's backyard. That dude isn't all together.

Original Xbox that Darrell and Brandon found and Brandon said it was $100, remember that? I just remember thinking "okay buddy, 5 years ago they weren't $100 let alone in 2012"

You should've heard me rant at my TV at the gross mischaracterization of that keytar, appraised by someone who really ought to know better. The AX-7 is one model old! It's not vintage...anywhere from 5-10 years old...and you can get the updated model that doesn't require running through a MIDI module brand new for a grand. Okay, they were usually going for $1,300 new when that episode was shot, but still...
Didn't he say that used keytar was worth, like, a grand? More like $500-600. Kevin, Kevin, Kevin...

It was fun when Darrell and Brandon found the Magic the Gathering cards and didn't have a clue between the two of them. Figures they'd get lucky and find a Black Lotus ...

it was probably a re-issue and not an alpha or beta series. I cant remember, did they show the back of the card?

You'd hope the guy who identified it would have checked before pricing it.
They reran the special from Vegas today, with Thom Beers and the cast at the old casino in Vegas. Someone noted that Brandi made a face when Mark Bolelo said they were all friends, and boy were they right. She looked almost repulsed.
Interesting that even though the show credits Brandi as Jarod's wife, the two said outright they are not married, although Jarod added "I am more married than any of you guys."

I don't remember what he said it was worth exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was in the ball park of the beta series. At least for my limited knowledge of older Magic cards. I remember them selling the cards to those guys right then and there

No way did they stumble upon a Power 9 set (9 best MTG cards ever and I think the most valuable) and also a huge amount of cards from the newer series. So we're talking about someone who has played for 20+ years and just happened to hold onto his power 9 set while the dumb twins also found newer shit.
So damn fake.

Which was utter BS.

I've talked to people both at the store and my storage unit, and the consensus is most of these lockers are auctioned off due to owner death or sudden departure out of state. Some things just come up that make MtG cards irrelevant.

Or maybe whoever's storage unit that was also didn't know what those were and just lumped everything together. Seems like little reason to think it was fake to me.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion
These "auctions" have got to be recreations. There is no way those are live auctions. We'd be bored to tears if it were so and the key cast members would not win every single time. I can see the producers planting shit to liven up the lockers with those Magic cards being one of them along with the Mego's, the gold leaf horse head, and the safes full of coins. lol

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion
Has there ever been someone that came out and said that the people on Storage Wars bought their unit?
I just couldn't imagine at home being like "Hey, that looks like my old couch," ... "hey, that's my $500 I left taped to the back of that portrait!" ... "damn."
