The "split" is pretty f'ing ridiculous and unnecessary.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Splitting up felt fake, set up by the producers to have a story line. Just like how it was Brandon's idea to travel 120 miles to that auction, it had nothing to do with that was where they were filming the show. Where as when Dave's brother showed up to the auctions and Dave kept outbidding him no matter what, that felt real.

Yeah you could tell Dave was pissed and we never saw the brother again, did we?

Plus, Darryl complains about going to Oxnard when he was already there visiting his friend with the metal detector.

If they are going to stage stuff, I hope we get some good Brandi shots while we're at it.

Or the Pawn Stars shop. It went from 50-70 visitors a day to something like 5,000.

On any other show, Brandy would be a 4. On Storage Wars, she's an 11!

Brandy showed off the tramp stamp when she was reaching for something in the storage unit this week.

Got a good shot of it in the episode with the quad bikes, too, as well as the one on her foot.

And its things like that that have me say its not as staged as most people say it is.

I think its more real than not.

I think once you put people in front of cameras, it's almost impossible for it to be "real."

You might want to check out this season's 'Deadliest Catch.' It's living up to its name. This season has been brutal and those guys aren't faking it.

I don't think that anyone is "faking it." But I certainly think that people will eventually start playing it up for the cameras - perhaps creating drama where it isn't for instance. It's simple human nature. I watched 'Deadliest Catch' for many seasons and certainly into season 3 it became embarassingly obvious that the guys were hamming it up for the camera.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Oh, I think this show is totally setup (especially Barry and his antics), but that doesn't bother me one bit. Fake or not, it's the perfect background viewing. I love when they have the marathons (which are on all the time) when I'm trying to go to sleep.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Tonight was a little better, a little more genuine.

I really gotta wonder about that Mark Bolelo dude. Anyone think he's laundering money or something?

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Looks like we got a new buyer to replace Hester. Kinda hope he stays. Smart, no nonsense, not full of himself.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I don't want Hester to leave. I like the chemistry of the show and don't want it changed, but if he is dead set of going, then better him than Barry or Brandi and Jarrod that is for sure.

Not sure about the new guy. He seems a bit dull, but maybe he will open up and be more loose as it goes. Still, would rather have him than the 2 folks I feared would replace Hester, Mark Bolelo and/or Nabila. A little of them goes a longgggggggg way.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

The new guy Jeff is a whiny paranoid a-hole. Not liking him, but glad to have the break from Hester. He still is on the opening credits, so I don't think he's gone, maybe just signed on for limited shows this season, maybe?

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

When they introduced the new guy Jeff, it felt like they are just putting the ground works up for a story line with Dan "screwing" him out of another auction. He mentioned it in both episodes tonight.

Of course, it could be real, but who knows this season.

I also agree, Mark Bolelo and Nabila need to stay FAR AWAY from this show.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

That skit with Hester driving by the place was such BS. It takes weeks to get a place rented and then signs up. For him to go by the place and see signs being put up means he hadn't stopped by in at least a month if not two. Meaning he never intended to buy it.

Much as I love Barry's goofiness, I'm getting a little tired of him overpaying for crap.

I stopped by Brandi & Jarrod's place today since I was in the area. They still have those bows, the kayak that Brandi flipped in Newport bay, and a ton of Hot Wheels boxes. Some are signed. But the place is full at this point and I noticed stuff is turning over.

Well, except for the old stereo gear and that original iMac. The onion-shaped one.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I always wonder what Barry does with the rest of the stuff in the lockers he buys once he takes whatever interests him. Seems he could sell the rest to Jarrod/Brandi to help offset his costs since the leftovers are what they want for the shop.

Well, not after he trashes it, of course.
