Re: The Big Brother 13 after dark thread

Shelly has spent the entire morning campaigning hard for Rachel's vote (she's given up on getting Jordan's). Rachel seems amused to have Shelly humilliated in front of her begging for votes. Per Joker's:

11:33 AM BBT Rachel tells Shelly she has lied and manipulated everyone in this gameRachel tells shelly, "do i think you are lying to everyone - 100%. do i think you are manipulating everyone - 100% i have gone into the dr all summer and said you are lying and manipulating everyone and have done a good job doing it. shelly says, "really, you think that? im shocked"

11:35 AM BBT Shelly telling Rachel why she should keep her. How she would never put up Rachel. That Shelly sat in the room and toldRB and JJ that she wanted to work with them.

11:42 AM BBT Shelly Saying ok to Rachel's demands. S: If you are in POV, I will throw it.

11:43 AM BBT Rachel says whoever they keep this week is someone that will work with them-Them is (Her and Jordon)..

11:43 AM BBT S: R, you've called out my game completely. R: Yes, I know it.

11:44 AM BBT S: Will you take me to F3 at least. R: Yes.

11:46 AM BBT Rachel told Shelly to keep her lie up NT

11:46 AM BBT S: I played honestly, but I was manipulative. NT

11:57 AM S: I can't believe you think I am a manipulator!

Tough to keep one's own lies straight when you're trying your darnest to convince the girl you hate to vote for you.

Rachel might think about keeping Shelly if it would get her further into the game, but I bet she uses Shelly's pleas to squeeze more cooperation/promises from Adam if they promise to keep him. Basically I don't see Rachel flipping her vote for Shelly if she didn't do it for Dani, but she's at least thinking things through.

Re: The Big Brother 13 after dark thread

The only reason Rachel is still in the game is because of Shelly's lies and manipulation. If she really wants her vote, she should just tell her that.

I've probably watched a total of an hour of After Dark since last week (if that). I know the past few seasons haven't been that good, but I think this might be the worst yet.

The problem, just like Survivor, is that they're concentrating way to much on bringing back old cast members and not on getting a good mix of new cast members.

The reason everybody liked Jeff his season was because he had good foils in Russel and Jesse. Shelly is no Russel or Jesse, even though I couldn't stand those 2.

Exactly. Glad someone else is thinking the same thing.

^^^ On the other hand, if the eight newbies this season are a sign of the type of HG's the show was considering, maybe we were spared a supremely boring and dull season of completely uninteresting people to watch. I mean, "Big Brother" had only eight people to choose instead of the usual 14-15... and these eight (except maybe for Dominic and Kalia, who many here may not like but at least these two have personalities) are the one's they chose out of thousands of applicants? Unless they deliberately chose cannon fodder HG's for the veterans to potentially slaughter the eight noobs this season have to be the most uninteresting bunch of "BB" HG's since forever.

Absolutely, I mean I can't stand Kalia but if she had a supporting cast of Howie's and Britney's, she would still be just as annoying but she'd at least have been part of a group of people that made for interesting television. I didn't like Dani this season, but I do like her as a houseguest and would cast her for other reality show if I happened to have that kind of job. You can respect people, even if they happen to be on the "other team."

I ordered Sho 3 days ago, I think, right after Rachel won the POV and I knew that Rachel or, my favorite, Jordan, had a chance to get back into the game. I have an $8 credit coming to me on my next bill and, if the season had a good group, $8 would be nothing, but I damned glad it's covering the cost, because BBAD is a total snoozefest.

Last night, just looking at Shelley standing there alone with a cigarette always hanging from her mouth and, honestly, looking like a man while contemplating whatever Shelley contemplates and then watching Porsche just sit there and say things that made my eyes start to droop, and Kalia talking and talking and talking...she's one of those people who talks and when someone else is talking, she doesn't really listen much, rather she's already getting ready to talk again, it was painful. Her stories about her dog being bad made me think immediately that a dog's personality usually is due to how they were raised, so it was no surprise that she has a dog that doesn't listen to her. Or that Porsche loves Pit Bulls.

I can't stay up and watch it anyway, my dvr was recording, but after catching just some of it last night, I didn't even skim through it today. When I got up, I deleted it immediately. Short of season 1, which no one usually seems to count other than as a "test" season, I really can't remember a group this bad. They would have had to hit home runs with all 6 of their other newbies, otherwise, at least for this season, the vets were/are pretty much the only reason to watch. We'd be getting our money's worth on Sho if the cameras were in the jury house.

edit to add: Oh my G-d, I just flipped it on before talking my dog out, kissing my girls, and joining my wife in bed and they're still talking about their dogs. 24 hours later and it's the same topic that I was listening to when I turned it off last night in disgust. Kalia dominating the conversation.

That was Jesse's second time on BB.

What kind of scintillating entertainment are you expecting from 6 people all stuck in close quarters together for 60 days? I'm sure they are bored to tears in there too by now. Only so much conversation you can try to make interesting after 2 months. Hell, I run out of things to talk about with my wife after like 1 hour. :P

You're right, forgot all about his first season. They're starting to run together on me at this point.

Shelly did bring it up during her pitch to Rachel, but it was just one of many things said and wasn't emphasized by Shelly as a key reason for Rachel to keep her. Shelly's pitch must have really worked because she spent most of Tuesday trying to talk Jordan into at least thinking about the possibility of tossing Adam and having an all-girl "BB" Final 5. Jordan would have none of it (she's hell-bent on getting Shelly evicted) so Rachel is probably going to vote with Jordan to evict Shelly less because she wants her gone than because Rachel doesn't want to betray or upset Jordo.

I am voting they were brought on for cannon fodder.

I find Porsche gorgeous and all and she seems like a good person but I doubt at any point during her casting interview people thought oh yeah this girl she is gonna be the next Britney or Renny.

Adam in particular was specifically cast because he would be starstruck by the veterans and help them to victory.

I guess even with the stacked cast and the rigging twists Grodner prolly never imagined Daniele and Jeff would play so awfully or that someone like Kalia would be great at comps.

Re: The Big Brother 13 after dark thread

^^^ Maybe Grodner deliberately chose Shelly because she was a Jeff-Jordan fan thinking and would help the show's 'golden couple' get ahead. When Shelly deviated from the script and assigned role (i.e. she sent the show's "star" packing prematurely) Grodner pulled the Pandora Box/POV-Rachel-is-good-at strings as punishment and to ensure Shelly won't screw up with her show's carefully-arranged storyline. Who is Shelly to have individual needs/gameplay ideas when she was clearly brought on "BB" this season to be the equivalent of the third person at the end of "Human Centipede" (with Jeff and Jordan in front)?

Re: The Big Brother 13 after dark thread

...and maybe "Evil Dick" was never really going to do the show and his leaving was staged to get Danielle into the game and get a golden key and a guaranteed four weeks of sitting around working the social game. We know Adam was a huge "Evil Dick" fan and perhaps he was there to potentially help Danielle. I really don't think Pandora's Box was a punishment for Shelly, but I do think it was pulled out strictly to save Rachel and Jordan.

So... if we're at five after tomorrow night, we would have four next Thursday (Sept. 8), and the finale is the following Wednesday (September 14th). When do we get it down to a final 3 in this situation?

Why hasn't there ever been a celebrity version in the U.S.?

I don't think adding the Kardashians to the house is a step in the right direction, but that's just my opinion.

Re: The Big Brother 13 after dark thread

The type of "celebrity" that could afford to take a couple of months off to isolate themselves in a 24/7 TV show AND tolerate both the emotional/physical toll of the premise along with the perception of themselves as lowest-of-low 'has beens' for even considering being on "Big Brother" (a show that doesn't have a good reputation amongst TV industry types) narrows down the list of potential HG's to a borderline-undesirable pool of talent. We're talking below "Celebrity Rehab"-type of celebs that are way below even "Dancing With the Stars." Most of them would be other reality TV losers/winners/hangers-on/loud mouths/etc. Do you really want to see cast members from "Road Rules" or "Jackass," retired skateboarders, E! hosts you've never heard of, soap actresses on leave, Jeanine Garofalo and Erik Estrada for two-and-a-half months? Me neither... wait a sec...!!!

Right, Janeane Garofalo is below (or even in the neighborhood of) the level of Lindsay Lohan's dad or Sugar from Survivor. Oh brother.

Re: The Big Brother 13 after dark thread

I keed, I keed ... I love Jeanine and yes, she's too good for "BB" and just about any reality show I can think of. She's always guest-starring on shows and is precisely the type of star "BB" would want but she wouldn't do it (while still being below the likes of "DWTS"). But hey, I'd rather hear Jeanine blab on and on hours instead of Kalia.

The UK has a celebrity version airing right now. You can find it on Youtube. There probably won't be many people you've ever heard of before (besides Tara Reid), but it's still 100 times more entertaining than this Big Brother.

I have thought that all along the whole scenario with Evil Dick was planned from the beginning. He never had any intention of sticking around and was told that if he showed up for a couple of days, that Danielle would get a free pass for several weeks on the show.

I am sure Celeb BB would be entertaining if it went a Tara -Gary Busey-Random Crazy chicks from Bad Girls club casting route.

In reality it would be something like I Am A Celebrity get me out of here where you would have 1 or 2 entertaing people like Heidi and Spencer trying to make good tv and a bunch of boring D Listers trying to get the public to like them by being boring and nice.

Re: The Big Brother 13 after dark thread

I think they should combine Big Brother & Bachelor Pad. Call it Big Bachelor or something. They both have a bunch of people stuck in a house & getting voted off, but at least they don't seem to be bored out of their minds on Bachelor Pad. Just run it in real time & add the internet feeds.

I can never figure out why CBS thinks sticking a bunch of people in a house, draining their energy with slop, and giving them absolutely nothing to do 99% of the time makes for compelling TV. Yet I still watch....
