Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Clark (Tom Welling) takes Lois (Erica Durance) to the Fortress to get Jor-El's (voiced by Terrance Stamp) blessing for their marriage. Jor-El bestows a unique wedding gift on the couple as he gives Lois Clark's super powers so she can see what it's like to be him for a day. Unfortunately, the Toyman (guest star Chris Gautheir) has returned to Metropolis, so Lois must go up against the notorious villain instead of Clark. Meanwhile, Oliver (Justin Hartley) searches for the Bow of Orion, which he believes will remove the Omega symbol from his skull, and runs into Kara (guest star Laura Vandervoort), who is also on a mission to stop Darkseid.

So they remade an episode of Lois & Clark for the episode just before the finale?

I'm not as negative as you are because you've made it clear for probably 2 seasons now that your sick of watching the show and just want it to end. Despite a few bad episodes in their tenure, I'm confidant Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders will give us a satisfying conclusion next week. They have done a great job since taking over in season 8.

Re: Smallville -- "Prophecy" -- 5/06/11

I haven't watched last weeks episode yet, but I can't help but feel this season has tremendously fallen flat. It's like season 8 take 2. They clearly had point A and point B laid out, but they didn't know what to do between them, how to get there, and how to make a consistent story along the way. It's a shame too, because I felt like seasons 8-10 had so much potential. It's more frustrating too when you see shows like Fringe and Vampire Diaries that can sustain plot lines across episodes and seasons. I don't necessarily expect the same from Smallville since it's been it's own beast for so long, but really there has been no mention of large plot points mentioned so many episodes ago that I have nearly forgotten about them; Darkseide and Lionel, and evil Oliver to name a few.

I think they could have done so much more to make the suit and identity a continuing theme this year by having Godfrey be the foil. They should have kept him around as the main "big bad" for the year. You could then have him possessed at the end as another vessel of some sort. Over the course of the season Clark and Lois would have needed to deal with all the negative media blitz as well. It would have dovetailed so nicely with the VRA arc and Cat Grant's motives.

It's as if no one told the writers this is the last season.

Ugh, more shit.

Loved seeing the Legion of Doom.

The Toyman? Really they're trying to portray him as that big of a threat? Granny Goodness again?

Vandervoort's skin looked horrible in some of the earlier scenes.

So we're going with Gold Kryptonite?

You can't have Darkseid come without Granny Goodness?

Already deleted it. I saw a guy with a arrows but I don't remember Green Arrow having a counterpart in the Legion?

Oliver just happened to have two full size bows with him?
and why didn't he report in that he had found Kara before they went further?

Because Watchtower/The League/Clark & Friends didn't know Oliver went there

Also it seems the bows are high tech, so it's not that implausible.....alright maybe it is.

I could see him having the full size and the crossbow, but two full size seemed too convenient

and I stand by my comment from a few weeks ago

Re: Smallville -- "Prophecy" -- 5/06/11

This episoide was horrible. They packed in so much last minute crap (Legion of Doom, Lois leaving Clark, Oliver going after the gold Kryptonite, etc.) that the 2 hour finale (90 minutes if we don't count the commercials) will have too many balls to juggle. I think raven56706's prediction will be mostly right except that Clark will suddenly believe in himself and inspire the other characters to believe in him and than suddenly Darkseid will poof in the biggest anticlimax since Davis Bloom/Doomsday. And I bet the scene they keep promoting will Lex Luthor is the actual final scene of the finale.

Did anyone else think that Lois was gonna suddenly fly when she got ontop of her desk?

Oh and don't casually comment on Lana's death if you're not gonna pay that off onscreen. And why hasn't Chloe so much as called in to find out what the hell her husband is up to?

Toyman mentioned Dark Archer to Lois.

I agree, meh episode. Kara's return was pointless.

Gotta love Jor El's idiotic speech to Kara that somehow convinced her to leave for the future. How is it a bad thing that Kara got Clark to go after Darkseid? How could it have ever been his destiny to fight someone he would never have known existed if not for his cousin? Why did Jor El even send Kara after Darkseid if he never wanted to do anything about it?

I swear it's as if the writers have the same attention span as the season 2 showrunner of Human Target.

Do we know what Gold Kryptonite does yet? If it ages Clark 15 years and retconns 90% of the last 10 years then I love it.

It was mentioned a few episodes back that it's believe to permanently strip a Kryptonian of his/her powers. I'm sure Jor El will reboot as a Deus Ex Machina and restore Clark at just the right moment.

they mention that but yet it didn't do that to Clark Luthor, it permanently scarred him but he still had his powers

Re: Smallville -- "Prophecy" -- 5/06/11

On the positive side, I liked where Lois experiencing Clark's powers led. Not because it led to a happy place, but because that's a realistic real-world concern adults would have to deal with. Clark could be saving someone every minute of every day. How do you balance that overwhelming need with Clark himself having a life? I don't know that it's the right conclusion, but it's right that the issue was broached.

I forgot that Lex did that to Clark Luthor. Didn't they retcon gold kryptonite's duration in the comics to something like a day or an hour?

EDIT: Per Wikipedia, it seems Gold K only works for 15 seconds.

Pre-Crisis, it permanently removes superpowers from Kryptonians, by destroying the ability of Kryptonian cells to process solar energy.[24] Because it was said to be permanent, this variety was rarely used in Superman stories. Gold kryptonite appears in The Flash (vol. 1) #175 and plays a key role in the 1982 limited series "The Phantom Zone," as well as the 1986 "imaginary story" Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
Post-Crisis, gold kryptonite has appeared in Adventures of Superman #444 and Superman (vol. 2) #22. In the Legion of Super-Heroes (vol. 2) #293, during "The Great Darkness Saga", it is shown that Element Lad can transmute matter into gold kryptonite. In Superfriends: The Legendary Super Powers Show, Darkseid buys a quantity of gold kryptonite in an auction, but thanks to the Superfriends, he accidentally uses it on Batman, and Firestorm transmutes it into a bowling ball before he can try again.

In the Season 10 Smallville, episode "Luthor," an alternate-universe Clark bears a scar "L" on his wrist to Tess Mercer. The explanation given is a passing comment, "There's no take-backs with gold K." Gold Kryptonite is further alluded in future episodes.

In Action Comics Annual #11, Metallo mentions that the modern age gold kryptonite in his chest only temporarily removes a Kryptonian's powers. The effect wears off after fifteen seconds.

Don't like that they referenced the yucky Superman costume from Superman Returns (at least the body suit, I think the cape was different).
