Judging by the iTunes downloads I think it is safe to say
Spoiler:
Sasha
is going home.

Re: The Voice -- Season 4 Thread -- Now with Shakira & Usher

Two people are going home. I looked last night at the iTunes downloads and I agree that she will be going home. Also, sadly, probably Amber as well. She really took a mis-step with Fireworks. I like that song, but she sounded terrible. I think the judges are just too nice on this show to say so, they NEVER tell people they f'ed up. I think it will come down to who has the most fans right now, Amber or Michelle.

My wife and I both are big fans of Michelle, though I wouldn't be surprised to see The Swon Brothers win it all.

I enjoyed both the Swon Brothers and Sasha last night. IMO Sasha is the only true performer. Sadly you also need a great fan base and Sasha does not have that. I have to agree that Amber had a terrible mis-step with Fireworks. I love Danielle's singing but she doesn't move or show any emotions. She just stands, smiles, and sings. Michelle is interesting to watch but I don't think I would buy any of her songs.

I think we may lose Amber and Michelle tonight. However if ITunes is any indication, then Sasha will take Michelle's spot in the hot seat.

I kind of agree about Danielle not being as dynamic a performer as the other contestants, but you don't really have to move around a lot to record an album that will sell well.

One thing I was glad to see last night that there weren't too many ridiculous over the top sets like last week. This show is The Voice. It should be people, on a stage, singing.

I'm trying to figure out the "I'm so different, I don't fit in card", Michelle is playing. She obvi isn't some super model, but she doesn't fit the weirdo card, or quirky card at all. Is it the big glasses? Is it the singing squats? I'm just not seeing where she seems that much of an outcast.

The problem with that contestant's song choices as far as iTunes goes is
Spoiler:
that there was nothing unique about her renditions to make you want to own them. They made for good live performances, but why would someone buy Sasha's version of "I Will Always Love You" over Whitney's, especially when she mimicked Whitney's delivery down to the runs (despite the judges saying she put her own spin on it). Same goes for her Donna Summer song.

Re: The Voice -- Season 4 Thread -- Now with Shakira & Usher

So the final 3 are interesting. As for the two that went home:

Sasha: she was lacking a string story or something to connect to. Also, I'm not sure we had a good sense of her musical area.
Amber: I think Firework essentially sent her home. Ashame too; because i was probably pulling for her most after Sarah left.

Final 3:

SwoB: very surprised they made it this far. They have energy and have improved. I guess the way they carry themselves has helped get a lot of votes. Probably 3rd, but could surprise.
Michelle: crowd seems to love her the most. I think she could win, but I'm not entirely sure how successful she'd be selling records.
Danielle: I feel like she'll win even though she shouldn't. Never connect to anything she sings. She's technical and proficient for her age, but comes off as blank. 3-4 years and she'll probably own the CMAs though.

Re: The Voice -- Season 4 Thread -- Now with Shakira & Usher

Called all three against my wife.

Sasha - a great karaoke artist who is technically impressive but she didn't put enough of her own spin on the songs she did.

Amber - agree that Firework wasn't impressive but I don't think that's the reason she's gone. I just think it's the fact the other three are just stronger.

Michelle - crowd favorite, plain and simple. She's the only artist that has matured in front of her eyes. She's been my fave since Midas Whale got sent packing.

Danielle - yes, technically amazing and adorable, but she's a bore on stage. Blake has failed at teaching her stage presence. Every performance might as well be a blind audition since she doesn't budge.

Swon - kinda the same as Danielle, maybe not as technically impressive vocally but they come out and have stage presence and are fun to watch. They are performers ready for the big time.

Hoping for a Michelle win next week. Danielle is probably winning it though, but she's so awfully boring. She has talent and can sing, there's no denying that. But I feel like grabbing a quick nap when she gets up there. Michelle's only hope is that the country voters split between Danielle and the Swons. And she, herself, has to have a knockout performance next Monday.

Re: The Voice -- Season 4 Thread -- Now with Shakira & Usher

I still have a problem figuring out what kind of artist Michelle wants to be. One moment she's doing these interesting indie pop-ish covers like "Time After Time", the next she's doing an iffy rendition of some upbeat dance pop number. For an 'indie rocker' she's done very little rock. She has a nice voice in her wheelhouse, but she over-reaches vocally on those uptempo tracks and it just sounds like bad karaoke to me.

Danielle does have the deer-in-headlights thing going, and I'm curious if Blake has tried anything to work with her on stage presence. I know if Usher had been her coach he probably would have made that a priority.

Sad that Amber is gone but I think she may have hurt herself trying on so many styles. She probably lost some of her initial country followers to Danielle and the Swons.

Re: The Voice -- Season 4 Thread -- Now with Shakira & Usher

The show is called The Voice yet it really isn't since we have the weakest vocalist in Michelle in the finale. Just horrible. I liked her alot but the past three weeks have really shown what a terrible voice she has. It's a shame she's there but Amber and Sara are not.

Hated the Swon Brothers the whole competition but really liked them this week. Great song selection.

And speaking of song selection, WTF was up with Sasha? Whitney Houston? These karaoke shows really need to retire her, Mariah, and Adele songs. Also, how in the hell could Donna Summer's Bad Girls be so boring? Glad she's gone.

Re: The Voice -- Season 4 Thread -- Now with Shakira & Usher

I might be biased since she is our favorite, but I think Danielle is getting a little too much criticism for her stage presence, or lack thereof.

I will agree that this is the one area where she has room for improvement, but I would not describe her as “deer in the headlights”- to me, that means you are nervous or scared onstage, and she absolutely is not that- just the opposite- she seems very much at ease.

Again, not saying she doesn’t need improvement in this area- I agree with that completely and if she was 22 it would be a much bigger issue to me. But she is only 16 and I am sure 2 years from now she will be a pro onstage.

But the show is “THE VOICE”, not “BEST PERFORMER”. And to us, she has the best singing voice. The first thing the winner is going to do is put out a single and album, and stage presence doesn’t matter when you are listening to her CD. Stage presence will come, but I don’t think it’s a valid reason for her to NOT win the competition……..

And on another note, Danielle isn’t the only one who can use some work on stage presence and especially song interpretation. Michelle is one of the few who really understands the subject matter of her songs and acts accordingly. Others? Not so much. It drives me crazy when someone sings a depressing or sad song with a big smile on their face. A good example was during the “EVERY ROSE HAS ITS THORN” performance, when many of them had big smiles on their faces while singing the song. THIS IS NOT A HAPPY SONG!!

Just my two cents……….

Re: The Voice -- Season 4 Thread -- Now with Shakira & Usher

There is nothing I like about Michelle. I don't care for her voice or her stage presence. The squats and fist pumps and such. I just find her incredibly awkward. Danielle is going to win this. I don't care about her at all. The only artist I really liked this year got worse every single week she was on the show (Sarah Simmons). It was nice to see Nicholas David the other day, loved that dude.

It's still a tv show though and she's kinda boring to watch.

I haven't been watching this season, and a quick look at the Voice's wikipedia page informs me that Blake Shelton's team has won the last two seasons of The Voice, and this season he has two of the three finalists, so it's looking for a hat trick.

Is Blake Shelton really good at this, or are Blake Shelton fans just voting his contestants up?

Sort of like WGWG syndrome at American Idol, where a certain kind of person is likely to watch and vote for a certain kind of contestant.

Re: The Voice -- Season 4 Thread -- Now with Shakira & Usher

I actually think he's good at this. He makes safe choices for his performer's songs, doesn't have them change up the songs too much so they're easily recognizable, he doesn't take his people out of their comfort zones at all, so his people don't have as many "lows." I mean Shakira has more twitter followers than the rest of the judges combined, but it doesn't equal votes on the show.

Re: The Voice -- Season 4 Thread -- Now with Shakira & Usher

I think the new excuse only goes so far, but I'd curious to see how Shakira and Usher do if they come back next spring.

Makes you think Adam's S1 was a fluke. He clearly had the best singer, but he hasn't done well the past few seasons. I like he makes riskier choices and pushes his contestants, but sometimes he needs to cut bait and play it safe. For example he shouldn't have let Amber do Firework.

I kinda thought Amber was in trouble when I preferred the version done by Lea Michelle (Rachel on "Glee") over hers.

I think it's a toss-up between the Swon Brothers and Danielle. Danielle has an incredible voice... she can sing anything... and the Swons are entertaining and I think they could be successful.

I don't get all the love for Michele. Her "dancing" is uncomfortable to watch. They keep talking about how someone different can overcome obstacles... that has already been done with Nicholas David. He is so soulful and can really move an audience. His voice just transports you to another place. Yet, you don't hear all the endless role model/breaking barriers talk about him like you do with Michele.

Looks like Cassadee Pope is the first Voice winner to have chart success after the show. Her new song "Wasting All These Tears" debuted at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #7 on the Billboard Country singles chart. A lot better than Javier Colon or Jermaine Paul's post-show songs did.

I still think Javier was easily the show's best winner so far.

Tonight is the season finale:

here are your finalists:

The Swon Brothers

Michelle Chamuel

Danielle Bradbury

A friend of mine said that if anyone wins besides Michelle, he's done with the show. He's tired of "Middle America" voting for country artists.

Danielle is almost a mortal lock to win. Itunes sales counts a lot in the voting and she is destroying both of them in aggregate throughout the season. Blake wins again.

Carson Daly: "Our next performer has won a grammy and sold 45 million albums worldwide...Bruno Mars!"

*crowd goes crazy*

Me watching performance: :jawdrop: :whofart:

Those 45 million people need to pass whatever they are smoking my way. That shit was awful.

I was surprised the Swon Brothers only got third. Not surprised at all Danielle won. She was the favorite for my wife and I.

Was Bruno Mars lip-synching? I thought so at first but then later I wasn't so sure. Wasn't a fan either way.
