I was surprised to see the one girl (Sarah?) go from Christina's group. She was pretty good both in the Monday performance and last night. I thought she would be one of the people that could win the thing. the girl that Christina kept did a really good job last night though

Re: The Voice -- The Live Performances Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (NBC)

Sera was terrible last night. It was as if she lost all her confidence being in the Bottom 3 and was unfocused. Ashley was the only one in that group who sang like she was fighting to stay.

I dislike all 3 girls in Blake's group. While I have to admit Jordis was the best, I can't stand her from "Rockstar: INXS" and have a bias against her.

 Agree. Ashley did one hell of a job. She deserved to stick around.

Was not impressed at all by Blake's girls. All of them including Jordis gave very lackluster performances. But, I know they had to choose someone and Jordis was the best pick. I don't know what the hell is her deal. She just doesn't seem motivated.

 And damn, X-Tina looked really good.

As for next week's shows. I think Adam has a superior team compared to Cee-Lo.

Care to elaborate? I vaguely remember Rockstar despite watching the entire season and was able to place Jordis's name, but I don't remember much about her at all.

Anyway, of all the performances, enjoyed Ashley's the most by far. Was surprised she was bottom three.

Agree 100%. First season watching and loved the blind auditions and the battle rounds. Hated the over-the-top masked-dancers and shirtless-models bullshit. Christina told Ashley that when you sign record deals you get lasers and huge video screens and dancers and shit, when most of the acts on that stage (I'm thinking of the one who looked really uncomfortable with all the make-up and staging) don't sing music suited that at all. This show is stripping some of these great singers of their really cool identities and trying to turn them into cookie-cutter "pop stars" (which shouldn't be surprising considering who the judges are).

Having said that, I can't wait for the Cee-Lo/Adam ep.

She looked like a refugee from Battlefield Earth, and screeched a lot in her singing, it got old quick at times.

I'm surprised at the comments on Chris Mann, I thought he was in tune and all but his enunciation was terrible. I could hardly understand the words. I seem to recall Clay? doing it on American Idol better back in the day.

quirky, unique female singer on the show = girl with a baby voice who may or may not sing in tune. That was like half of Blake's team and the Walk like the Egyptian girl.

I like that Christina couldn't look the ex-mousecateer in the eye when she was ripping him.

I had a major issue with that, too. She's hired to give her opinion, but if she truly believes that what she's saying is fair, she should be able to look him in the eye. I wonder if the show asked her to drum up some drama.

Still can't believe Adam picked Mathai. She just suck. Juliet was the best of the night though.

Blake is right on with his eye rolls at the elaborate staging. Shit was way too over-the-top at times and totally detracts from the actual singing. For example, love Tony Vincent, but my eyes kept straying to the "robots" that danced beneath his gigantic Orwellian podium. Ugh.

And WTF was Cee-Lo thinking with that "Walks Like an Egyptian" number? Easily one of the worst performances I've ever seen on a singing competition show.

zuffy 04-11-12 09:30 AM

Re: The Voice -- The Live Performances Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (NBC)

America must be on crack. How the hell is Mathai still in this? I think Team Adam is the weakest of the four now. I see the winner coming from Team Christina or Cee Lo.

 Thank God Erin is off the show! That bitch cannot sing at all.

Her rendition of "Walking Like an Egyptian" was so corny.

 at Blake ripping on the extraneous props/dancers etc. He is 100% right at how distracting they were.

I hate to say it, but I don't think there is any future career for Kim Yarbrough after this. The music business is so cutthroat and I don't think there is any room for someone her age. She's most likely bound to be a Lounge act or Hotel singer.

At least Tony Vincent's over the top performances will keep him employed on Broadway.

I thought Jamar was the highlight of the Monday show.

And I agree that Adam's team is looking pretty weak.

Oh and screw James Massone. Who the hell thinks that guy has a great sounding voice? It's so whiney and nasally...Ughhh. I fast forwarded past his performance.

I'm pretty sure he's a robot since he sings through his teeth without ever actually opening his mouth.

And I actually like Mathai. Sure her style is gimmicky but at least she can hit most of the notes. Plus I like seeing her buttoned-down parents flip out after each performance.

Christina coming out doing a portion of Blake's duet Hillbilly Bone while there was shirtless guys girating around him was just hilarious. Christina is looking much better than she was in the recent past, although she is not all the way back yet.

Is Blake boning the underage blonde chick? I haven't been watching on a regular basis, but I haven't seen an episode yet where she wasn't the worst one on the show. She never should have made it out of the first head-to-head round.

Is it just me or this turning into a trainwreck of epic proportions?

They had the judges eliminate two singers tonight before the viewers had a chance to vote. Kind of a big fuck you to the people who vote, no?

Blake eliminates Jordis after he has her sing a shitty, boring song? And he keeps the William Hung country Barbie? I know he's a stupid, country-singing hick, but Jesus...

The elimination of Jesse is also puzzling. Not my kind of thing at all, but he seemed like he was a competent singer and performer.

MikahC 04-17-12 01:30 AM

Re: The Voice -- The Live Performances Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (NBC)

I didn't like Blaked method of choosing. I don't get into the actual selection as it's subjective. I can see "country Barbie" putting out records and having a fan base. Apparently I like country rock so I actually enjoyed her performance. But Blake should be building the strongest team he can in his opinion and passing along the people he most believes in. To effectively say, "Jordis got the least votes from American awhile back, so I'll eliminate her" is a little less manly than I'd expect from him. Take ownership of your choice.

Christina, on the other hand, let go the person she felt wasn't going in the direction she wanted her team to go. Jesse's a good singer, but I don't know that he has the best voice. He sounds rather thin to me. And he's been doing it so long, he may have reached his ceiling. He's just going to be who he's going to be. And unless he sings Gospel music, he's not really going to reach heights. He's not going to be a "great" R&B singer and he's not going to be a great pop singer. Yes, he did a nice duet to start things off ("If I Ain't Got You"), but that's not enough. Christina picked the people she most wants to continue to work with, so I have no problem with it.

He has said that she reminds him of his wife, so he could have a soft spot for her, plus with her age, it's a gimmick that they could use to sell records (kinda like Scotty McCreery)

Blake didn't have time to explain himself because Xtina took 3 minutes hemming and hawing about her decision. Shut up already and choose and BTW, why in the hell did you keep the Opera singer? Is she boning him? Jesus H. Christ this guy is boring as fuck.

Yeah, was wondering if he had it in him to let her go. Still, she'll have a few hits in her future.

Re: The Voice -- The Live Performances Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (NBC)

Finally catching up on some full episodes. From a couple of nights ago, when the coaches performed, it was interesting that Christina was center stage with her group trading off the verses, whereas Blake didn't have any solo parts and had no theatrics (Christina had a ton).

Glad to see RaeLynn (didn't she have a last name when she started?) get booted. The poor girl looked like she was going to faint when Blake was talking over the credits. She over exaggerates her accent during some songs, and it gets to the point of mockery - like someone would do to taunt someone else with a southern accent. She shouldn't have made it as far as she did.

Lindsey gotta stop with the short skirts. Anytime it shows her wearing something short, she is more distracted with trying to pull it down rather than singing. The past few times she has been on hasn't been as bad, plus I don't think that sexiness is really her thing.

I'm not seeing anyone as a front runner now, but if I had to pick someone, I would go with Chris Mann. Great voice, but he seems very arrogant. I'd love to see him do some Andrea Bocelli and just blow everyone away.
