I agree, I think that was just for this particular episode, but you had to love the nod to Whedon (sort of)

edit - I just found the other thread about Nathan's quest for the rights. Was that coincidence or has his site been up for a while?

The whole point of that style in this episode was to show how much of a crutch that style has become. It'll never happen to Community. Thank God.

Plus it would mean that Abed would hardly ever participate in events with the group.

Well, I'm still glad they at least tried it. It proved the show could still be what it is even in the hand-held style. I was not suggesting they should change it to that, but most of the shows I watch are like that, so, I like that style. At the same time, I'd hate it if every show suddenly did it.

Still think "More fish for Kunta" is a good title for something.

Why didn't Pierce get anything for Abed? Was it just because he was directing?

Yeah, because Abed was in on it. Although maybe the rest of the gang should have questioned his lack of gift? Though they were very pre-occupied with the head games anyway.

I figure he used an elevator and a door. Maybe stairs.

The joke is that he would refer to himself as Kunta.

Better or worse than "More fish for Toby"?

He was eating fish at the table with Troy. Troy ran away, and, well, more fish for Kunta.

I liked how they took a shot at all those mockumentary shows that are all over the place now. It's cool to see that they can keep coming up with a new theme each week without it getting stale or preachy. It depressing to know that there is a very good chance that this won't get a third season.

I must admit though that I don't get all the love for the "More fish for Kunta" line. Of all the amazing line of dialogue this show has produced, that wasn't anything special.

I just think it's hilarious whenever an actor appears as themselves on a show or movie and refers to themselves as a character they once portrayed.

I actually think they failed a bit there. To me, the documentary itself was Pierce's bequest to Abed. I just think it was difficult for them to establish the angst it generated in Abed in this context.
