Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Pierce (Chevy Chase) ends up in the hospital after ingesting mysterious pills and believes he's dying. The study group gathers at his bedside as he imparts his "final" words of wisdom and shares specially chosen gifts which are secretly meant to torment them. Britta (Gillian Jacobs) struggles over what to do with her blank check for "charity," Jeff (Joel McHale) contemplates the possibility of meeting his long lost dad and Troy (Donald Glover) meets his idol LeVar Burton ("Star Trek: The Next Generation").

Since guest stars are spoiled way too early on this show (months in the case of MJW), I guess I'll wonder which reference is most likely:

1) Roots
2) Reading Rainbow
3) ST:TNG

Oh, I think it's a given we'll get ST:TNG references. I'd love to see them throw in some Reading Rainbow stuff.

Dammit, I just read the synopsis so I guess he's playing himself? Well, I was hoping for a more tongue-in-cheek reference to his work.

Alison Brie's Twitter:

The rumors are true! @levarburton is on #NBCCommunity tonight and it's OFF THE HOOK!!! (this is one of my favorite eps this season)

Sounds like a good episode to come.

Judging by some preview pictures, that's the case.

Great to see LeVar Burton, from the Star Trek, doing a cameo.

I loved the ridiculous zooming on Troy during his interview. That's such an overused mechanic now.

Sour-face, complisult, explanibrag

Troy: "If one of us dies, we're gonna stage it to look like a suicide that was a result of the unjust cancellation of Firefly."

Troys reaction to Levar Burton was epic

Problem solved, Britta for the win. Could you imagine bouncing a check to Kunta Kinte?
Oh well, more fish for Kunta

The mix of Reading Rainbow and ST:TNG was genius

They crammed a lot into that 22 minutes.

Loved the subtle digs at Modern family "See, Fish in a barrel". Everything with Troy was awesome.

Troy was really funny in this episode. I also love Annie's Nazi diamond quote and the quote she said to the nurse.
