Re: Top Chef All Stars

Tiffany seems like a nice person but she should have been gone a long time ago.

Mike's annoying, but it seems like he consistently puts out some pretty good dishes, I don't have a problem with him still being around.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

I don't like Mike, and Tiffany I'm so-so on, plus she doesn't make great looking food, so yeah, I'm annoyed they're still there. But Mike has shown that he belongs. Croiminy, he beat Voltaggio and won the elimination challenge, he's a good chef. Maybe not the best, maybe he wasn't even top 4 of the original 16, but he clearly is one of the better ones. And as they say, "that's why they play the games". It's a competition, and he -- and Tiffany -- have survived.

And how funny is it that Hosea is aware that people think he's not a great chef!

Re: Top Chef All Stars

BTW, I really was disappointed with the QF, I think they could have done so much more with having the old winners come back. Instead, it was 15 minutes and they're gone!

But maybe they'll be back!

This show made me like Bourdain, I used to dismiss him as a smug a-hole, but now I know he's my kind of smug a-hole.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

I'm glad Carla went home she was very annoying this season, plus she was in the bottom of the last 4 elimination challenges (including tonight), so it's not like she had just one bad night... and it's not like her food is high risk that should fail catastrophically (except maybe serving raw pork ). I was just a little off thinking that she was a shoe-in for the Final 3 when Angelo was sent packing.

After keeping everyone last week why didn't they just take the axe to 2 people this week? Is next week the finale or are there 2 more shows?

Regardless of who's competing, Padma in a bikini next week = everyone's wins.

I was thinking that, though I was also thinking they might use the fire to keep everyone around another week.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

I agree that Mike deserves to be in the finals. While he did not appear to be the strongest chef in this cast, he has put out a lot of solid dishes and earned the spot. With that said he can be a jerk at times. Stealing Richard's idea was pretty low.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

How stupid were they for thinking they were going to cook for Bahamian royalty? The only royalty the Bahamas has is Queen Elizabeth II.

Judging from their attire, they couldn't have really thought that right?

Re: Top Chef All Stars

Just got caught up with the last 2 episodes.

Even though Carla was annoying sometimes, I did like her. She was funny and very charming most of the time. Once we saw that her pork was raw, she was done.

Even though the odds on favorite is probably Richard, I'd like to pull for the underdog and hope Antonia wins out.

at the Bohemian royalty they cooked for.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

I like Richard and hope he wins just so he doesn't go into depression, I really like Antonia too.

Carla's catering company doesn't do catering anymore, she's making cookies and hoping to open some kind of specialty food shop. http://www.alchemybycarlahall.com/

I just bought a couple of tins of her cookies, because I like her and they sound delicious. I'll let y'all know how they taste!

Re: Top Chef All Stars

I didn't like Carla in her season and didn't like this season.

I'm rooting for Richard or Antonia.

I have read that the finale is April 30. And my directv guide tells me there's an ep on the next 2 wednesdays...

I don't want to google top chef finale..

Re: Top Chef All Stars

I loved Carla. In her season, I didn't like her at the start but she grew on me. Loved her this season.

But we're now rooting for the same people.

Nobody seems to know exactly when the finale is; there was some debate on chowhound about it too.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

Did Antonia gain a bunch of weight between NY and the island? Do you think Padma in a bikini will strip off her wrap?

I hope in the future, they come up with some sort of invention that would allow the viewers to also taste the dishes and be able to contribute interactively to the judging in some way.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

starman9000 - if you like Bourdain, check out his book, Kitchen Confidential.

I hope Richard wins. He was so cute about his wife... really hope he wins it.

Antonia is my 2nd choice.

How long did they have off between NY and the Bahamas? Must be have been a couple months it seems.

One of them said (I can't remember who - I think it was Mike) said he spent the time off learning how to cook every fish/shrimp/sea living creature from around the Bahamas. SMART.

Oh, and I wanted to wring Tiffany's neck when she said "Bohemian" royalty. Bohemian =! Bahamain!!!!!

Re: Top Chef All Stars

Still can't believe Antonia & Tiffany are still in this. They are such mediocre Chef's. At this point its really Richards game to lose.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

I think you are mistaken about Antonia. She makes simple looking food when compared to Richard, but has won 2 eliminations, should have won a quickfire, and quite possibly could have won another elimination based on her own dish, but was in the bottom because it was a team challenge. And she did pretty well on her season, which arguably was the toughest season (I think season 6 is the only other possibility).

Tiffany is mediocre compared to the chefs remaining, but I think it is a mistake to even call her mediocre.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

It's all relative. She's mediocre when compared to the majority of TS contestants and a 4 star chef when compared to your average person.
