No mention of Harrison Ford saying "shit?" Looks like basic cable is paying off already.

I thought it was funny that "shit" was bleeped later in the episode when Conan said the name of that guy's CD, then said something like "We're not Harrison Ford". Maybe they are allowed one "shit" per show? :)

It's amazing how intense Harrison Ford's fear of public speaking and crowds is. I know people like to say he's drunk and he sounds like he is, but notice how he can't stop fidgeting. There were two points in the interview where he almost was able to block out the crowd and his voice went from that nervous, quiet slur to what Harrison Ford normally sounds like, but then once he sees there's still a crowd, he's practically climbing out of his chair.

Haven't watched last night's show yet, but I did catch him on Kimmel and the Daily Show last week. He's incredibly interesting to watch during an interview. :)

I haven't watched Conan yet. Does anybody know if Triumph the Insult Comic Dog has/will be a part of this show, acting as a recurring 'correspondent' like he was on NBC?

Deftones 11-17-10 06:21 PM

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011

nobody knows for sure. rumors are that Smeigl held the rights to Triumph, but there's been no confirmation of that.

I was wondering what was up with him. I thought he may have been on drugs or something.

I'm with Coco but after seeing some episodes I'm not too happy with the move to TBS.

The opening monologues weren't that good, and after seeing his banter with guests, it only makes me wish I was watching Craig Ferguson instead. And I know this is going to sound picky, but I don't even like the set design either. It's kind of dull compared to Kimmel's, and Lopez. I was actually expecting something really elaborate after that Amex commercial (which was hilarious).
I also miss Conando.

That said, I still think he is much more enjoyable to watch, even now, compared to Letterman and Leno. I never get tired of his impersonation of the old, NBC exec. "What did he say!!?"

Much smaller budget than network tv, and it shows. Harrison Ford is very uncomfortable to watch. Deniro is still the worst talk show guest. Awful.

Ford talks again about Indy. He's pushing 70 and while in good shape, he looks it. I wouldn't do it if I were him, but the moneys too good, so who am I to deprive another payday.

Harrison Ford seemed out of it. If I didn't read this thread I wouldn't have known that he has a fear of public speaking. Was he promoting a movie or something? (I zoned out of it).

On the other hand, Rosario Dawson & Russell Brand were awesome!!

Couldn't have said it better. I watch Craig then watch Conan and it's like where's the old Conan? He just doesn't do it for me anymore. I was feeling like that when he was still on NBC but at least his monologues were funny. He looks nervous and the chemistry between him and Andy isn't that good on the new show. Conan and Max was comedy gold. Those silent stares were fucking hilarious.

I've found myself just watching bits and pieces of Conan now and I just delete them off the DVR. I just can't watch the entire show.

btw, Conan has never been a great interviewer. He got better over the years but he doesn't get them out of press tour mode and he always looks like he's afraid to piss the guest off. He should watch Craig to see how an interview is done.

Hmmm...I thought Conan was being quite comfortable on TBS, much more so than on the Tonight Show.

How is Conan doing ratings wise?

I really liked the Jesse Eisenberg interview from last week. Anyone else notice how he wouldn't say "Geek" or "Nerd" when talking about his fame? I like that he's a landlord for cats. :)

I agree but he looked way more comfortable when he was doing Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He looked very nervous when he was doing the Tonight Show and he couldn't do the same comedy on it because he was on an earlier timeslot and had to tone down a lot of his stuff which made it hard to watch at times.

wearetheborg 11-23-10 12:03 PM

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011

IMHO he appears just as compfortable now as on Late Night. The interaction with audience members, the willingness to thorw out jokes (the Harry Potter kid)..

wearetheborg 11-24-10 06:19 AM

Re: Conan --> Series Discussion Thread --> 2010-2011

The audience hating on Justin Bieber  and then Conan throwing out the joke.
How has that guy become the center of attention? He was also mentioned on Dexter.

Christina Aguilera was so not interested in doing the show..
