You'd watch or not watch Conan based on the numbers displayed on your cable box? That's just silly. I'd watch Burn Notice even if it were on Oxygen. The yogurt product placement is already there!

Now that you mention it, I wonder if they didn't position the show to go either way from the beginning. Male viewership is down? "Michael's a nice boy who cares for his widowed mom and helps people, aided by the more-than-capable Fiona." Male viewership is a go? "Michael and Sam are the heirs of Magnum, P.I. and The A-Team, but with superhot Fiona." Those clever bastards!

I was a huge Conan fan and was fully prepared to support his new show, but now I see he's going to TBS. Leno just gained another follower after this disastrous blunder by Conan.

Blunder? Can you explain how this was a blunder in any stretch of the imagination?

Maybe Ted Turner murdered bee's family. We just don't have all the facts!

You are admittedly going Leno out of spite. Who's the real fool?

Whether I press "05" for NBC or "47" for TBS on my cable remote... I'm still pressing two buttons to watch Conan. Wow, such a difference (not).

I'm shocked that Conan would go back to TV at all, to be honest. Cable is a dying industry. It'll be around for years to come, no doubt about that, but eventually we'll all be watching video over the internet.

I guess he wanted the money. Can't blame him.

Oh my god! Conan is the devil! I can't believe he did this to Lopez! We should all boycott his show! It's as bad as Leno!

 Funny how the fanboys don't complain about him.

The difference is that Lopez himself invited Conan over .....

Re: Conan Picks Networks and it's....TBS

I think it came down to two factors on O'Brien choosing TBS for his new 2300 hours ET show:

1) He doesn't force the Fox network to do the very expensive process of clearing time at 11:00 pm locally for the show for every Fox affiliate. People forget that in the spring of 1993, even with David Letterman's name recognition it took a LOT of convincing (and some arm-twisting!) by CBS to get most of its affiliates to carry The Late Show with David Letterman by the time that show premiered.

2) TBS is available in both standard definiition and high definition forms on satellite TV and most cable systems across the USA, which means most anyone with a cable subscription can see the show anyway.

Maybe so, I'm not even interested enough to read about it, perhaps it's true.

The point is though, that even if Conan did bump him, or even got the network to fire him, you wouldn't hear a thing about it.

So in a hypothetical situation, Conan or his fans are dicks?

Really? Is that the point? I take the point to be more of being uninformed and trolling.

It's not like the two are mutually exclusive. Conan's show streamed on Hulu when he was on NBC. Lopez Tonight is available on the TBS site, albeit broken up into clips. So Conan, being on TBS, will be viewable on the internet as well, not to mention possibly VOD from various cable companies.

It must have been a really good deal if he went to TBS.

So? I watch Saved by the Bell before work every morning! Unless I'm late then it's Fresh Prince.

That's a good point. Since Conan now owns his show, he can basically do whatever he wants with it as long as he honors the five-year deal to broadcast it on TBS.

Hadn't heard about the five-year part of the deal before your post. Here's the source:
http://articles.latimes.com/2010/apr...an13-2010apr13

As part of his deal with Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting to host a late-night show on TBS, O'Brien will have ownership of the show. That will give him the potential to make a lot more money then if he were just a hired hand hosting a show owned by a network. O'Brien's deal is for five years.

If there's a show I want to watch, I'll watch it. It doesn't matter to me what channel it's on, as long as it's a channel I get.

LOL.

Looks like somebody tried to make a funny and was quickly shot down so had to go with hypothetical humor. Oh, and then threw in a mention of not caring even though he bothered to post in the thread.

These scenarios always make me chuckle.

He's being allowed to own this show and material, unlike just "working" for a show already owned by a network. So he can stand to make more money than had he stayed on The Tonight Show.
