Waterson has been teasing another returning character but hasn't said who yet. Just that she's one of his favorite people.

If I could have my pick and neither actors nor character had died I'd wish for a return of Jerry Orbach, Chris Noth and Jill Hennessy.

So, dead actor, dead career, and dead character. Respectively.

Yeah, I know how to pick them.
Until recent developments at least Chris Noth would have been possible, so Benjamin Bratt has to make do, I guess.

Jeremy Sisto is also a possibility as is Alana De La Garza since they are both on a Wolf show filming in NYC.

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

Just noticed that Law and Order Los Angeles, the failed Southern CA spinoff from 12 years ago, is now on IMDB TV. It lasted 22 episodes and underwent a major reboot midseason. It's actually a decent show although the midseason reboot was kind of jarring.

It features a young Megan Boone and a young Alana de la Garza.

Amazon Amazon

Weird that it's here, but not on Peacock.

The reboot was handled with a sledge hammer, but the show profited, since Alfred Molina and Terrence Howard appeared in every episode from there on out. I liked all L&O shows, even Trial by Jury, but Los Angeles was rushed into production.

So they're following the same pattern as FBI/International/Most Wanted and Chicago PD/Med/Fire.

The female ME, the snarky one? I forget her character name. Although to most people she's minor. I'll guess Jamie (Carey Lowell).

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

This is actually a really cool featurette about the new season. They had to re-create all the sets as ordered by Dick Wolf. The old sets in Los Angeles were no longer usable and didn't fit the studio and everything was made from the original blue prints. So the squad room, DA's office and court room were all made to look like the original and improved for HD cameras.

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

I was suprised they used so much Chris Noth footage in the featurette. The recreation of the old sets, is pretty cool, but I would have been OK with new sets, since it's not unusual to re-model, when so much time has past.

I would have too but this way it will feel like its just the same show and some bozo accidently burned down the room with the last 10 seasons in it

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

The recreated sets look really good from what’s shown. I’m a little surprised at the lengths they went too though considering as mentioned it probably wouldn’t be too uncommon for things to have been remodeled in real life with over a decade passing.

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

Not exactly classic L&O, but it was good to finally watch a first run episode. And I still love the formula.

Oh, and the recurring character Sam Waterston was referring to was
Spoiler:
Carey Lowell as Jamie Ross

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

In all seriousness, if this was the first episode of an actually new show, I wouldn't watch a second one.

Really bad. I already hate 3 of the new characters.

I don't think Anthony Anderson is doing anything interesting that would suggest he has been a homicide detective for 14 years.

L&O has a great history of re-using actors in different roles. I wish they had brought back Jill Hennessy as the Executive ADA, but just a different character.
