Another f-you to the fans though from ABC by throwing in a major spoiler for the promo.

Loved the episode but it was over way to soon. I agree with what someone else said. Widmore has no idea Desmond can jump around through space time. He is just using him because he can survive the electromagnetic energy pockets.
Also I think Desmond wanted the flight list because he knows Claire is the woman Charlie seen in his vision and he will introduce the two of them to get Charlie to stop trying to kill himself.
The ALT world is indeed the world that will be if Mib escapes. I'm not sure if this is fake matrix type world or a DC alternate multiverse world that is real but just different.
Hawking must have some way of traveling through space time herself. Her ability is probably directly tied to Desmond. Maybe she is piggy backing off of him somehow. I doubt we will get answer to this.
I don't think Desmond looked into a mirror in this episode.
The Penny on island timeline must be freaking the F out. There is know way she is going to be able to find the island again.

I think the bigger story there, is Charlie knows he should be dead, nothing will stop that.

Sunroof was open too, so the car quickly filled with water.
The big mystery is why Desmond didn't slam the breaks the second Charlie pulled the steering wheel - wouldn't that be the immediate reaction from any licensed driver - or why Desmond was driving at all - why didn't he happen to have his driver at that critical juncture?
These are the mysteries that need answering!

He just had the driver from the airport - big-shot AR Desmond isn't gonna be parking in the lots/garages with the rest of us peons. After that he switched to his car to go about his normal day-to-day business. Except that his car became somewhat incapacitated so he gets the driver again until he can arrange a replacement. Another mystery solved.

When the person approached Desmond's car at Eloise Hawking Widmore's party, I exclaimed, "Look out, it's Chuck Mangione!"
My wife hated me for that.

It's really starting to look like the series will end in some kind of reset that creates the sideways-timeline.
So, then, what becomes of Charlie Hume and Ji-Yeon in the prime-timeline? They'll probably never have been born.
(Except Sun is pregnant; wonder how that happened since Jin was shooting blanks and was never on the island.)

and then Daniel really made him understand (btw, how did people not know Widmore was referring to Daniel when he referenced his son as a "classical piano player/ musician.." early in the episode... and how did you not detect Daniel was talking about Charlotte even when he mentioned her "working at the museum" red hair, blue eyes) pay attention guys...

Desmond is aware of both reality's now (like he had become aware in the constant)
i take it he is gonna track down all the all the people from the plane and do what Charlie did for him. Guessing Jack will be the first visit
---
the episode itself was interesting, i thought the first 10 minutes or so didn't seem like LOST, and they would have never attempted to make 90% of the show Alt-world if it wasn't Desmond centric, people wouldn't like that. I liked overall how they told the story.
btw, that chick that plays Zoe must feel real special right, the fact that LOST brought in a new person so late in the game and give em all that camera time.
lol, maybe they needed to add a lead woman because the writers themselves are sick of Kate as I have been for a long time. this is probably not far fetched as you can see Kate's role has been reduced severely in recent episodes, hell in the last episode i lol'd when you seen Kate literally sitting like a bump on a log staring off into space in the background of the camera frame. damn she's useless

also still don't understand why they casted that fat white nerdy guy as a hardcore dude on Widmores security team

I did catch the Charlotte reference though.

Alternate realities, timelines or whatnot aside, I think the key(or at least one of) to the episode was Charlie's speech about love.
In the OT all of our castaways(incl. Hurley) found love which isn't true in the ALT. They even made it a point to show Sawyer getting shot down by Charlotte in his flash sideways. All of them are single in the ALT. The only wildcard is Locke who appears to be leading a much better life than previous.
The "flash sideways" have been my favorite part of the show this year. It's the only part of the show that gives us those great character moments of year's past with the characters we've grown with over the years.

Cool episode.
Questions.
What did Eloise mean when she said "It is, in fact, a violation"
Violation of what? The rules?
Why did Desmond go so willingly with Sayid?

Wow! A Desmond episode, of course I loved it. My head is a mess, and I don't think anyone's explanations here are close to the truth.
I've always liked Des and Penny chemistry, they work really well as a couple in the screen. I mean they really transmit love, the way they smile, the way they look at each other. They bring a lot of emotion to their scenes.
And no, The Constant is too far away from this episode. The Constant would never be replaced from the top spot.

The only time Desmond was surrounded by stewardesses was when Locke went on a vision quest in S3 and saw all his friends working at the Sydney airport.
