Why not? I think the season has been building nicely towards the inevitable huge showdown between Jacob and his followers vs. smokey and his.

Yeah, I'm wondering why should I be rooting for team Jacob.

The big assumption many are making is that Jacob = Good / MIB = Evil. But if you listen to Dogen's speech carefully at the beginning, he never says which side he is on.

Right... because when Smokey goes around killing people in a frenzy he's not a bad guy. Not ONE bit.

So Samurai trumps Smoke Monster.

But Iraqi Torturer trumps Samurai.

If Dogen had the power to keep MIB out of the temple why on earth would he risk everything sending Sayid out there?

That's what I was asking myself after the episode ended...

I was disappointed that he didn't pop up at random occasions, warning people that Flocke was coming, and then hop back into the nearest bush or shrub.

how many more times will somebody emphatically claim on the following:

'i will kill ----'
'everyone will die'
'--- will kill every living person on this island'

decent episode though, redeemed by the ending. The Keamy/Sayid scene was pretty badass.

The thing is... he warned everybody to leave or they would die. He really didn't have to warn anybody. We really don't know what the stakes are at this point.

I'm definitely on Team Smokie now. All the cool characters are on his side: Sawyer, Sayid, Claire.

I'm going to have a hard time pulling for the Dead Jacob/Jack team.

And if Jacob was so good he would have had Hurley convince Dogen to send everyone to the lighthouse rather than stay to be slaughtered by Smokey. If MiB is "evil incarnate" then Jacob is asshole supreme.

Bad yes, but I still think this conflict is turning into who may be the lesser of two evils. We don't know for sure yet.

The MiB at least gave the Others a choice to leave the Temple. Same as he did with Bram's team in the statue, and Sawyer.

Dogen first ordered the Losties to be killed in LA X, and recently tried to kill Sayid twice. Jacob could have had Hurley at least try and save those people at the Temple but instead he wanted to send Jack on a mission to stare at the ocean!

IMO Sawyer is going to con the MiB. Fairly significant that Sawyer was not seen in this episode following him. Remember what Sawyer stated to Locke in S4, "I think they're saying BAhhhhh!! What sheep do best", and telling Kate he went with Locke because "I'm doing what I always do, surviving".

Yeah, wait... where is Sawyer in all of this? Still looking at Jacob's numbers?

Re: Lost -- "Sundown" -- 03.02.10

I was assuming Team Jacob was going to run into Sawyer where he could make some kind of witty nickname reference like calling them all "Our Gang" or something. The show let me down.

Re: Lost -- "Sundown" -- 03.02.10

it's sad to see the fall of sayid. he truly is a killer at heart hence his alternate timeline counterpart. i agree that sawyer will con mib in the end. i hope ben doesn't die next week. he hasn't had any real great moments this season besides his funeral speech. no big answers this episode either.

Re: Lost -- "Sundown" -- 03.02.10

Not sure about the whole lesser of 2 evils, but for sure it would be then that Jacob is good(lesser) and MiB is bad(worse). If it is not, then the producers would have to totally explain away the whole backgammon scenario and then the shot of the 2 of them on the beach with Jacob wearing white and obviously MiB.

Personally the scene with MiB and Sayid tonight had both my wife and I saying how the MiB right there is essentially the "devil" speaking. Whereas whenever Jacob seems to talk about things it is more "faith" based, and depending on man to make the right choice.

Keamy seemed to be channelling Christopher Walken with his cadence and voice tone.

Good episode.

I'm pretty convinced now that Sawyer is hustling Fake Locke. I think he's going to play a huge part in the finale and no one is going to see it coming.
