Does anyone else hate the total revamp the show did? Instead of focusing on the restorations which I found interesting, they're doing that cheesy family dynamic that Rick and Corey use on PS. They blew through the restoration on the episode I watched today in less than two minutes.

I don't know why they did this other than to make it more like Pawn Stars but it doesn't work. I hope they change it back.
I use to enjoy them both, until I re-saw an old episode where some one brought in an old coke machine(it was Ron; Rick Dales brother) Then Rick(Pawn Stars) took the coke machine BACK to American Restoration to get "fixed" and the end result was a completely different machine

Don't fuck with The Chum!

http://www.tmz.com/2012/07/12/pawn-s...ollywood-blvd/

Chumlee from "Pawn Stars" was involved in a crazy -- and bloody -- fight right in the middle of Hollywood Blvd. this weekend ... but the reality star tells TMZ it was all in self-defense.

A video has surfaced showing Chum and his pals hanging out in front of Chum's Rolls Royce ... when they are approached by an unknown man.

Chum tells us ... the guy was harassing the group and demanding a ride in the Rolls. When Chum's group refused, Chum says the man threatened to pull a gun.

Chum says the man then reached for something in his pocket ... so his boys took action, socking the guy in the face HARD ... dropping the man to the pavement.

Once the guy hit the floor, Chum and his crew scrambled to get back in the car and quickly fled the scene ... while the man tried to pick himself up, blood pouring out of his face.

Chum tells TMZ, "Instinct just took over. [The man] didn’t even know I was on TV or anything … just wanted to ride in our car and start problems.”

So far, no word on the identity of the victim or his current condition.

Yeah, that's where initially implications of items being staged came in to play a number of yeas ago when the show first started.

Oh TMZ.. sigh. Chum was there in the video, but his thug friends were the ones that beat up the guy.

They're lucky no one got shot.

I stopped into the store when I was in Vegas this week.

Yep, it's tiny, cramped (and it was even crowded when we went), and the back 1/3 is all Pawn Stars merch. And, of course, none of the main guys were there. I almost wish I hadn't gone since the store seems FAR more grand on TV.

Thats it I'm done with American Restoration they hardly focused on anything but Ricks wife bitching. What crap this show use to be good, to much fake drama for me.

Re: Pawn Stars on History Channel

The thread is more about Pawn Stars but yeah it's kind of sad as American Restoration used to be really enjoyable. I don't understand why they felt the need to change it up and add more scripted stuff to the show rather than showing more of the actual restoration process. Disappointing. While Pawn Stars may be scripted in some aspects too (I'm sure some of the items brought in are staged) at least it's still entertaining and interesting to learn about the items being displayed. It seems like since American Restoration got re-tooled they show a little bit of restoring and a bunch of the guys messing around/fake drama.

Re: Pawn Stars on History Channel

Wow, just caught another staged episode.

It's the 2010 episode where Rick bought an Austin Healy Sprite that turned out to be in seriously bad shape and needed more in repairs than it was worth (which some AH fans said was BS).

Well, I looked close at the seller. He was wearing a Kount's Customs jacket with his name on it. He was an employee of Danny's.

No wonder the show fell out of popularity.

I think only fanboys on the Internet who have nothing better to do than complain really get upset over stuff like that to be honest. I'm sure most people either don't realize or don't care. A lot of people I know who watch seem to realize the show is staged to some extent but it doesn't really seem to bother them. As for the show falling out of popularity, it still seems fairly popular to me so I'm not exactly sure where you're coming from there either. I haven't checked the ratings but I'm fairly certain it still does pretty good for History.

I saw the opening segment just now featuring this Austin Healy (but didn't bother with the rest of the episode. I think I've seen this one before)

But I don't understand the conclusion that it was 100% staged. A guy who works at Counts Kustoms sold his car to a pawn shop. I don't see the connection between that and the segment being staged.

Now if Danny came by and gave his professional opinion on it, then yes, I would see a problem.

If I remember correctly, didn't Rick bring the car to another body shop (and not Counts Kustoms)?

Re: Pawn Stars on History Channel

A lot of people on AH boards said the costs to fix it were grossly exaggerated. I suspect the whole thing was a show at this point and no money was exchanged. It was probably something Danny worked on. Someone noted that the temperature gauge in the car was on C, meaning it had been sitting there a while.

'Pawn Stars' shop girl Olivia Black fired after her porn site past is revealed

The short version is that she posed for Suicide Girls, a softcore porn site, back in '08. The national Enquirer recently published some of her pics and a short time later she got a call from the TV producers saying she is no longer needed for the show. I've only seen random episodes here and there but I don't recall ever seeing her myself. An updated story I read said that she later got a call from the shop saying she's welcome to continue working there but not as part of the TV show.

Re: Pawn Stars on History Channel

That seems like kind of a lame reason to fire her or not let her be on the show anymore. I had noticed that it seemed like her part on the show wasn't very large lately especially after they made a point to do episodes about hiring someone for the night shift. Of course there's the off chance that some kid will see the show and maybe look her up on the Internet and have his parents shocked and outraged at what they see and go after the History Channel for it. Have to make everything family friendly of course .

God knows, pawn shops are supposed to be family friendly environments. If you let a porn model work there, next thing you know guys will be trying to hock their grandma's dentures to pay a bookie or buy crack.

Re: Pawn Stars on History Channel

I've been saying this on other boards, it's being totally misreported. Olivia has said it was downsizing but that gets buried in the reports.

The bloom is off the rose on that show. The shop isn't the tourist destination it once was. So I can see them needing fewer people, and in her case, last hired first fired. Or maybe she wouldn't sleep with Chum, who knows.

But I seriously doubt a pawn shop in Las Vegas would get all uppity because an employee once posed nude.

Last hired first fired? She's been working there at least a year, right? I bet more people have been hired since her.

Eh. Who cares. Does anyone really care?

I guess she was only fired off the show and not the Pawn shop itself.
