I rewatched that magic trick and the guys one at a time went into the back and went into the box and the women then came out. I was so focused on watching that guy in the box that i missed it the first time

Interesting choice of wildcards.

Ok, my fav 5 for the night...

Thia Megia (but I like her first performance better)

Kevin Skinner (I think he should sing a upbeat song if he makes the Top 20)

Drew Thomas

Arcadian Broad

and #5.... hmmm. Platt Brothers?

Still a good trick. It's all about distraction and slight of hand, and they pulled it off well.

The wildcard idea is okay, but the ones they brought back last night were both acts I was actually happy to see cut in Vegas.

Breaksk8 was okay, but their act seems to be missing that special something they had on America's Best Dance Crew.

I thought the magic act was booooring. Way too long, just a bunch of guys sealing up a box for what seemed like an eternity. I was expecting the judges to call them on that but they didn't.

That kid dancer ought to audition to play Billy Elliot.

I guess Thia was voted off because of her "off" performance last night... I like Arcadian but I wish Thia had gone though as well.

I wonder how they figure out who to put on each show...

I also still think they should go back to the prize of Season 1 and just give the million.

If the Vegas gig had been offered then, Bianca might not have won.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC

At the beginning of Wednesday's episode I picked my five to continue and I was right on all counts...until the end. I wanted to see Thia on. Seriously, who wants to see that kid dance around by himself as a Vegas act? The kid may have talent, but not for a Vegas show. Broadway in a cast with other people, maybe, not for a Vegas show. I thought that was a terrible decision.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC

That was really disappointing to see Thia voted off. Definitely think she has more potential than Arcadian.

I really liked Drew Thomas, his hot wife and his assistants. Very slick act. I think that definitely has a 1 hour Vegas-style show written all over it. Good to see them make it through along with Acrodunk.

Honestly, I don't really care for Grandma Lee and her old people jokes. I think the act is already getting tired.

I liked Kevin (the chicken farmer), but honestly is anyone really going to pay good money to see a guy from Kentucky do country music karaoke in Vegas? I know I wouldn't.

Hated the little girls from Houston, Manuela and the Platt brothers. Glad they got the boot.

and that's exactly what makes a good magician. Anyone can buy/build a nifty device. But it's all about the misdirection which they did VERY well. There was so much going on on stage - drew moving over to the box, the sparks from the machinery, etc. And there was ZERO delay when the guys walked behind the box and the girls came out of the other side. It flowed so well. Not to mention the fact they had to but on new outfits in that box and dispose of the guys' outfits. Pretty slick.

I agree that it felt like it went on too long, but they all have the same amount of stage time right? They probably just needed to fill time. Probably would have been better if Drew had a more dynamic personality and was a great showman (a la penn and teller - they have a shtick and do it well).

Magicians have to be the super bummed about the TiVo era. Cause i rewatched it, too! pretty easy to see what they did on the rewatch - but live? no way i would have caught it.

I thought Arcadian's act was good - all nice and buttoned up for the piano (which i did like, but agree it went too long), then breaking loose kevin bacon style.

Platt brothers were just ALL over the place. Very bizarre. They should join up with acrodunk.

Acrodunk was awesome. I've seen guys like that at tons of NBA games, but what they did on stage was great. They really turned it into theater. That dude that did backflips between the trampolines - can you imagine how hard that is? One slight mis-step and it's curtains!

Didn't think Chicken farmer was as good as his audition. And i agree with the above - sounds like country music karaoke.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but wow what a brutal selection of acts tonight. Were there 5 worth sending to the next round?

Not in my opinion! I'm usually not a sucker for "dance" acts but I really enjoyed Paradizo Dance, the husband and wife couple. They seem genuinely nice and modest. Everyone else could be cut...especially that young girl.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC

I really don't understand acts like the triplets. They were told repeatedly that their singing was the weakest part of their act. I'm sure any online comment sampling would have lead them to the same deduction. Yet when they come out this week, not only do they sing but they marginalize the violins -- which is the only reason they were passed in first place.

Obama Guy is going about it all the wrong way. Combining his Obama impression with his musical side isn't a bad idea, but not the haphazard, cobbled-together way he's doing it. Instead of straight covers, why not do song parodies written from Obama's perspective? You want to do Ray Charles? Make a song called "Hit the Road Joe" or something along those lines. Do a parody based on his stimulus plan or some other Obama-related topic. Even better would be yanking stories from the headlines... the show IS live, after all. It just seems like the logical way to go with the act.

Well, I'm dissapointed to see that Ciana isn't even a wildcard. I was planning on giving up on the show after she was booted out in Vegas, but was holding out hoping she'd be a wildcard, along with the kid blues guitarist. After seeing the mediocrity that has been on so far in the second live show, I honestly can't imagine what the judges were thinking sending these people through.

There are plenty of acts left but so far Drew Thomas Magic is my favorite to win.

Once again a disastrous pick from the judges on the final act to go through. Seriously, the dog and the Frisbee? I mean, I don't think the male singer was anything spectacular over what is available in the music industry today, but he was still better than that.

Yeah, what was up with that? The frisbee dog guy might be a good street act but not a million dollar Vegas act. Piers is the only judge that knows what's going on I think.

That was awful.

I was so pissed when they sent through Rory. Piers was right about Dwayne. He was great....can't believe this crap.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC

I wish they could have sent them BOTH home, frankly. Nobody wants to pay money to watch a guy toss a dog a frisbee for an hour. They had a dog act at a local fair last month with multiple dogs and more content. It was free and only 15 minutes long... and even that started to run out of steam by the end.

And Dwayne... every time he performed I couldn't help but think of:

Lord I HAVE to see Penn and Teller while they're still performing. Best act of, uh, the season?

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC

OK, I'm a day late. I missed Tuesday's show, had to watch it online Wednesday, then Wednesday's on Thursday.

The only acts I wanted to go that didn't were Pete Peterkin (not Texas Tenors) and Charles DeWayne (Dorsey) NOT Tony and Rory!

Charles wasn't at his best, but it was still better than Tony/Rory.

the wikipedia page ---> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America...lent_(season_4)

lists Kari Cullen as one of the remaining contestants but she's not.

http://www.nbc.com/americas-got-talent/contestants/

I've compared the lists twice, I can't figure out which act the Wikipedia article does not list.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC

Watched last week's episode a few days ago and the final judges pick was total bullshit. A dog and a frisbee? Jesus, Piers was right on the money that Charles deserved to go through before that. Most of the acts were very mediocre at best. Agreed with Piers buzzing.

BTW, why is there is a fucking 1 hour recap show before the results show? Does NBC have absolutely nothing to fill the 8pm Wednesday timeslot with? Is it just for people who are too lazy to watch the 2 hour show?

They could have used the 8pm Wednesday slot for Chuck re-runs to help its ratings when it comes back in 2010 but hey what do I know.
