LMFAO? Is this what is considered good music nowadays? I will gladly accept my title as "King of Out of Touch" if this is truly what America thinks is credible.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
I thought they should have mixed some of the acts tonight with last week's acts because whereas last week I wanted to see maybe only two go on, this week I want to see the majority go on. My picks to go home are the magician, the Pixie girls, the girl rock band, and the comedy folk singer. Unless one winds up being the judges' choice and they make another terrible choice this week. I think everybody else was great and far better than last week.

I guess I'm in the minority, I didn't care for too many of the acts this week.
Marcus Terrell was supposed to go on as a solo act, he shouldn't have been allowed to get new backup singers.
Jeffrey Ou should have been able to have a do-over. I guess if it was NBC's fault he might have.
I don't see what the big deal is with Mario and Jenny.
I like BRI but I couldn't tell what she was singing for awhile.
G Force, good drumming/guitar, bad vocals.
no idea who's going to go through.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
this is my first season with this show and it will be my last as well. the opening auditions were okay, lots of junk but some good stuff. however, since they have gotten to vegas, most of the acts to me have been ruined by all of the dancers and other ridiculous stuff that takes away from their original talent. all of the vegas stuff seems way too staged for my liking. at least i have a dvr so i can watch both nights in about 30 minutes.

I was really surprised to see the Asian guy beat Bri. She sounded excellent and we couldn't hear him, but I felt bad for him so maybe that's why people voted him in.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
I thought Bri was good, too. But realistically, she wouldn't beat Lawrence Beaman as far as singing goes, so i'm fine with it. I'd rather have some more diversity move on (ie not all singers).

I liked the Drew Stevens guy. Not the best pure vocals, but it's not always about that. Some of my favorite singers have that raspy quality to their voice.
oh, also, Nick Cannon's smile haunts me in my sleep.
MAKE THAT NOISE FOR (insert act name here)

I think Recycled Percussion and Ishaara and Barbara Padilla are shoe ins. So there's three. EriAm Sisters should make it, there's four. And the Lollipop Girls or Mia Boonstrom? It might come down between those two for the judges to pick...we will see. I think if it comes down to Mia and any of these acts, Mia just may be going home. But there were really a lot of good acts last night.

Again, I'm ok with these 5 going through.
But I think Recycled Percussion's act wasn't as good as the judges said, the backing track was so loud, you couldn't tell what was live and what was on tape.
Drew Stevyns was good. Didn't see him in auditions, first wild card act to pass to the 20.
Next week's acts
Grandma Lee
AcroDunk
Arcadian Broad
Drew Thomas
Kevin Skinner
Fab Five
Tony and Rory
Paradizo Dance
Texas Tenors
Voices of Glory
Semifinals Round 2
FootworKingz
Hairo Torres
Jeffery Ou
Mario and Jenny
Lawrence Beamen
Barbara Padilla
Erik and Rickie
Drew Stevyns
Recycled Percussion
EriAm Sisters
This week's shows will re-run on Oxygen next Monday night 8/31 7-9 and 9-10.

I didn't mind the selections...but I really wanted to see Ishaara go through....with Drew Stevyns I don't think you could hear him playing his guitar. I liked how the judges took the two kids over the singer, she seemed bratty.

The judges will chew out some contestants because they don't have enough in their act to fill out a Vegas show, but really... are people going to pay money to watch the same two kids ballroom dance for 45 minutes? Or watch some kid play piano? I could see them being successful as part of a larger revue, but as headliners not a chance.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
I think these bad acts they let go through are set ups so they get voted off in lieu of acts the judges want to give a nudge to. I consider it a form of manipulation.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
Anybody still watching? Thoughts on who should go home after tonight?
My random thoughts:
* Acrodunk- A great act but their performance tonight wasn't nearly as good as their previous performance. It came together at the end, but it was shaky up until then. I think they are a great act. Sharon comparing them to the Harlem Globetrotters was spot on...I think these guys could very well be the next Harlem Globetrotters. I wouldn't vote for them based on tonight's performance, but I think they have a good future in doing what they do.
* Texas Tenors-their previous performance bored me to tears and I really didn't feel any of them had a strong voice alone. Together they were so-so. Tonight I really thought they were strong and their voices were strong and I liked what they did.
* Paradizo Dance-I never really cared all that much for their act, but I think they did a good job in showing another aspect of what they can do. I thought the judges' responses to it was a little unfair. I don't think they will go on, though.
* Drew Thomas-Amateur hour. I was rather impressed with his last performance, but it didn't hold up with repeat viewings. It wowed me at first but upon further reflection it was slow and clunky and too easy to figure out how he did the trick. Tonight was just terrible...elementary tricks. David praised him for showing he can slow things down, but at this point in the competition we need to see how he can hold the attention of people in the back row. He failed. I hope he doesn't get any mercy votes because his daughter cried at Piers' comments, because he really does just need to go home. I hoped for a good magic act this year, but we never got one.
* Tony Howard and Rory- I didn't think he should make it this far, but he did, so it is what it is. And I really thought the performance tonight was leaps and bounds better than what he did before. The dog is adorable and I am not sure he could win the entire competition, but he should be able to find a good paying gig after the show is done. I don't think he will make it to go on, but he will likely not just go home either. He has a future with this act.
* The Voices of Glory- I still think the guys are the weak spot in the trio. And at this point in the competition we can't have a singing group where one singer is carrying the rest of them. Sorry, but it's time for them to go as well.
* Fab Five- I thought this was better than the last time we saw them on the show, but like some other acts on here I think they won't win the whole thing, but they did well enough to secure some kind of future after the show ends.
* Grandma Lee- Enough already! She was funny at first, but she is not coming up with any new material. Tonight was just a recycled performance of stuff that got her laughs before. Nothing was fresh, nothing was really all that new. Any other acts and the judges' would have ripped it apart for not doing anything new. What they were afraid to say, I will...she has to show she can come up with new material. So far we had a good joke about sprinkling her ashes at the donut shop and insinuating she did the nasty with Hoff and Piers. That's about it. Every other "joke" tonight was about being on AGT. It did not connect with me at home. I think she should go home, as I don't see her showing she has enough material for a full show in Vegas.
* Arcadian- He did what I think he should have done...show that he could be the star dancer in an ensemble. So he needs to finally be voted off the show and sent to Broadway instead. He can be an understudy for Billy Elliot. But he doesn't have what it takes to win this thing. And his whiny response on how the producers picked his act didn't win any points with me either.
* Kevin Skinner- Very good. I'd like to see what he could do with some original songs, though. I think he should go on.

I don't know who I'd pick...
Kevin sounded a little off,
Arcadian was good, but too many spins,
Grandma Lee was ok, not great,
Fab Five, good energy, but not really exciting,
Voices of Glory, not enough of the girl,
Acrodunk, they just aren't my thing,
Drew Thomas, too slow,
Paridizo Dance, not bad, but maybe not good enough,
Texas Tenors, don't really care for them,
Tony Hoard and Rory, he quit his job, not the smartest move.
Why only 4 to advance to finals, not 5?

I thought Kevin sounded a bit off as well...Arcadian did a good job, and I'm glad he threw the producers under the bus by saying he didn't wanna do HSM. Good for him. I don't really want to see Grandma Lee go through....I would like to see Drew Thomas get one more chance and really blow us away....Voices of Glory are good, the girl does need to be the lead, Acrodunk is awesome.....Texas Tenors sounded great too. Didn't want to see Tony and Rory in the semi's either. Surprised to see only 4 go through to the finals too.
And Piers....please stop sucking off Kevin....I don't think he'll win.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
acrodunk - i thought was awesome.
texas tenors - boring
paradizo dance - interesting performance
drew thomas - i liked his first two performances, this one was weak. i do hope he gets voted to stay and does somethin to redeem himself
tony and rory - another interesting act. atleast the dog didnt mess up this time.
voice of glory - eh, they're alright, but i dont think they should advance
fab five - good performance.
grandma lee - she's gotta go. all her jokes are about piers and hoff. i couldnt see her
doing a whole set for an hour.
arcadian - wasnt bad, wasnt that good. he needs to stop doing the constant spinning. i was laughing when he said he didnt wanna do HSM, but then Nick Cannon said that all performers had final choice before choosing what they wanna do.
kevin skinner - he is a real good singer, but i dont think a singer should win AGT. Just my opinion though.
I kinda hope that either Acrodunk or Drew Thomas wins AGT (if drew makes it through tonight)

Wow....that was shitty......I hated the 2nd pick they sent through.....as well as the 3rd.....I can't believe the one act didn't make it through....how is that possible.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
I noticed it more when listening to it a second time on the recap show.
I agree with most of the decisions except Grandma Lee. She didn't come up with any new material this week. She rehashed the same 2 minutes of material she came up with weeks ago. Piers is quick to throw the magic act to the wolves as a "one trick pony" but what is Grandma Lee other than a one trick pony? She hasn't come up with anything new since Last Comic Standing. The first thing she ever did on this show was her stand up routine from LCS. She's funny in small doses, but she can't hold her own in a longer format, let alone a Vegas style comedy show.
So what are the implications of the judges not making a pick tonight? Does that mean only three acts can get through next week? Or will there just be nine acts in the finals? Or ten if they can't make up their mind next week either?

I'm assuming that there were always supposed to be 10 cts in the finals, and they always planned for the manufactired drama of "deciding" to put both through.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
i look at the acts as "which ones have that vegas feel" and "what would i wanna see for 60-90 minutes" and i feel acrodunk wouldve been able to deliver on that.
paradizo dance was interesting to watch, but i think him gettin hurt is what ruined it for their act.
