Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
It appears the program director has ADD or something. Why the hell can't they hold a shot for more than 5 seconds? It gets me dizzy. When I watch the show, I want to see the act itself and not 25 crowd reaction shots from all different angles or Nick Cannon's reaction 10 times per act. One or two reaction shots OK, but what the heck?

Tonight's was alright... I'm not surprised at how many bad acts are on there, what surprises me is how many say they're good, and they STINK.

It's getting the same every week though...
Starts with an act that looks good, long backstory, terrible.
Four or five bad acts. Then a good one. A couple more bad ones. Bunch of good ones. Bad one. Good one. Bad one, ends with long backstory, one of the "wow" performances.

I think the acts have been underwhelming, for the most part. A good handful of genuinely talented folks got to move on, but there isn't one single act that I believe could have the ability to pull in crowds in Vegas.
I guess my personal favorite was the chicken catcher country singer.
I just hope some stupid dance troop doesn't win.

Me too. I agree that I don't remember anyone really special this year. Last year Eli was on the first show and I didn't forget his performance throughout the rest of the shows. I can't say that about anyone this year. There have been some decent ones but I too am tired of the professional or semi professional talent that is being portrayed as new and undiscovered. I felt that way last year about Neal E. Boyd though and he went on to win. He had performed not only in the U.S. but in Europe previously and they portrayed him as just an insurance salesman (I think that's what it was). I don't like feeling that they think we're stupid enough to think that they "found" these great natural talents that were just out there working regular jobs until they got up the courage to audition for this show.

I wish they would have shown more of the acts that passed.
According to what they said last night, over 160 acts were passed, but the Wikipedia entry only lists about 100 that were announced on TV.
It's a top 5 show, if not #1 every week.
They could have 2 hours each night showing more of the acts.
And if would have been less confusing if they showed all of each audition as one episode, instead of jumping from city to city, but they probably don't want to show that some cities have more talent than others.
I don't have any idea who'll make it this year, maybe after they narrow it down, it will make more sense...

Just a reminder tonight is the start of the Vegas Verdicts shows.
Looking forward to seeing how the acts get trimmed down.

There was a marathon of the first 10 episodes Sunday on Oxygen.
Suprised a little at who they sent home at the beginning.
the 9 year old guitarist, the singer with the cleft palate, the magician that made the mic float.
I agree with most of the passings to the top 40...
I hate though how they edit it in the promos so it looks like they are talking to one act, when it's someone else...
So 6 more weeks, or 7?
Top 40 is in 4 parts, then top 20, then 10, that's 6 weeks, then down to 5?

Re: America's Got Talent -- Season 4 Thread -- Tuesday/Wednesday on NBC
The 9 year old guitarist was probably the most talented of the lot of them, IMO, but not something they would want for a Vegas show. That kid needs to keep on plugging away playing with guitar greats and sitting in on session bands and he will be OK. The kid is going to be huge, and he doesn't need this piddly ass show to help him out. I just hope he can figure that out now instead of letting it get to him that they let him go.

He might not have won, but he deserves to be in the Top 40. He should have sang along with playing the guitar... there are a lot of good clips of him on YouTube.
Vegas might be out for him because of his age, yes. There was already some controversy that some of the places he's played at say he can't return because he's under 18.
The Vegas thing hinders some things... Remember season 1? Would Taylor and Bianca be #1 and #2 if the prize then would have included Vegas?
I agree with Wednesday's picks...
when it cane down to the last two girls, I think they made the right decision... Both of them say it's all they want to do is sing, and they love it, but the one girl was SO smug.
Wonder what the Simon Cowell curveball is...
He wants someone back in, or someone out?
What are the rules/requirements for being on the show? I know they say anyone can be on, and we agree that some are not completely amateur, but to what level of a professional can they be?

I saw "Destined 2 Be" as a special performance prior to a dance competition last night. I don't think they are Vegas show material but they are very talented and a lot of fun to watch.

I remembered they let the guy who wrote the song about Hasselhoff through, too. Over the kid? The guy wrote one novelty song and the kid has been proven he can do quite a bit.

The 3 blondes shouldn't have gone through....same should be said about the dude juggling chainsaws....I definitely wanted to see the 9-yr-old guitarist and the cleft lip woman get through as well.
Nice and classy act by the girl at the end. "I can sing better than anyone in this room!!!"

I thought the Vegas Verdict shows were bullshit.
You bring 160 acts to Las Vegas just to have them sit around while Piers, Sharon and David re-watch the tapes from the auditions. What a fricking waste of time.
I understand they were taking a more realistic and analytic look at the acts, but I think they could have added a little more substance to the 2 shows by having some more square offs like the 3 dance acts.

I wish this show could be retooled where the judges see each auditioning act WITHOUT the audience so they aren't swayed by moron audiences who go crazy for stupid ass acts like the disco dancing old man that should NEVER have gone to Vegas.
If this is how they do their crap every year, I am not so sure I will be too quick to watch season four.

Most of these acts that got through seem like great opening acts for something bigger and better. But so far I think my favorite is the magician...I can't recall his name. But the trick he did tonight blew my mind, dude! How did they do that?
