Production has been halted on Jon & Kate Plus 8 following the Gosselins' Monday revelation they're splitting up, the network has announced.
TLC says next Monday's episode will feature a clip package with some new footage, but the next all-new episode won't air until August 3, the Los Angeles Times reports. The Times says the decision came from the network -- not the family.

Say what you will about Kate, and I am by no means a fan, but the kids seem to be happy, well-adjusted, and well behaved. I'm thinking he didn't have a whole lot to do with that.

From what we've seen on the show Jon seems like a pretty good father. I'd hate to see the kind of "sterile" childhood they would have had with just Kate.

Kate is SO uptight about the kids just being...well...kids. Getting dirty and whatnot are part of it. Jon said many times to "let the kids be kids".
A normal couple would balance each other out. Unfortunately you have super uptight Kate and super passive Jon.
The wife and I both agree that Kate is the bigger problem of the two. No one else finds it strange that her family has nothing to do with her or the kids (and from what I've read...she's the reason it's that way)?

Along the same lines. Why do they no longer have any friends? They used to have that couple that had the huge house that they would hang out with and they would watch there kids.

The moment I completely disowned this show (and I never really cared for it, but the misses watched it and I just sort of watched while on the computer or whatever), was when they did this episode where they were going to "give back" after all the charity they had gotten. So they say they're going to this children's hospital (Shriner's I think) and buy them toys for Christmas or whatever. I said "hey, that's a good idea" since it was getting annoying seeing every friggin episode be some trip to somewhere completely comped to them by everyone.
So they fly down there (airline and hotel comped, of course) and they go out to KMart to buy some toys for these shriners kids. And they're there shopping and at some point Kate explains how great it is that KMart is paying for all the toys. THAT IS NOT CHARITY! They did nothing but go pick out some toys for someone else to pay for. Oh, and they gave each kid a dollar to give to the charity at the checkout line.
So not bad, they spent $8 on the trip. Way to go!

Sadly the above poster is correct as to her parents as its been discussed with the locals in Elizabethtown PA where they live by people who donated clothes and then found out they were given away to a consignment shop. Kate's parents would not give into her wacky demands and so she cut them out of her and her children's lives. The one person who did have insight to the real workings of what was really going on in the home and on the show and who used to be on Jon & Kate Plus 8 was Jon and Kate's sister-in-law Jodi the wife of Kate's brother. Jodi has been featured in many episodes of Jon and Kate Plus 8. Jodi used to help out Kate and baby sat a lot for the sextuplets, she has now been booted from the sextuplets lives for speaking up for the children and confronting Kate Gosselin on a few issues about the show. Looks to be a bad pattern here. Sadly in all of this its the children who pay the ultimate price. You can read of whats going on here.

I don't know if I would put the blame entirely on the show. While I'm sure it helped fuel Kate's attitude and spoiledness, I'd imagine her bitchiness would have been a problem regardless of being on camera.

If you watch the show, you know that Aunt Jodi was very involved in the first seasons of the show, basically bending over backwards to accommodate Kate’s every babysitting need — sometimes watching all eight of the Gosselin kids, overnight, in addition to her own four children. For free! And then when she didn’t show up in the most recent season, people started suggesting that Kate was bitter because Jodi’s patient and kind mothering skills were making Kate look awful in comparison, and also noting that the producers offered to pay Jodi for appearing on the current season — she had been doing all of this shit for free up until then — but that Kate put her foot down, said “no one gets paid for this show except our family” and booted Aunt Jodi out of the kids’ lives.

Indeed, ofcourse they didn't pay for them, production budget or they just gave them for free advertising, but the first thing we thought is how damn small they were. You couldn't fit any furniture in them and they were so small all the kids had to get out of the way to have the doors open into the house.
