Law & Order: Criminal Intent "Purgatory" on USA 06/08/08

New USA episodes start back tonight at 9pm before a new episode of In Plain Sight

Stars: Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, Eric Bogosian, Leslie Hendrix

Also next week is Alicia Witt's final episode since Julianne Nicholson back from maternity leave.

Also look for Mary McCormack's character from "In Plane Sight" to guest star on next week's episode.

As for this one, it was pretty good. Love how they tease the hell out of this thing to make the viewer think Goren went rogue or something. But they are still leaving an opening for the character to leave.

Witt was only there because Wheeler was pregnant in real life. But I think Witt was better.

I thought last night's episode was worth the wait. It was a Goren/Eames episode and actually got into a lot of character development of both Goren and Eames. I can't believe Goren did what he did and it makes me second doubt his view on justice. Overall, a very good episode and worthy of the series return.

I read in an article that Wheeler was on a maternity leave and Witt only was meant for a temporary replacement. I liked Witt too, I wonder if the writers can write her back into the series. Anyways, I'm excited too for Wheeler's return and I want to see how they can get back into the groove of things with Logan. The next episode should be a Logan/Wheeler episode with lots of questions to be answered.

I like Chris Noth and Vincent D'Onofrio, but I prefer D'Onofrio's episodes.

I'm not big on CI as it is, but I think he's a bit more enjoyable to watch. Was he letting himself go for the role or what? I mean he's gained A LOT of weight over the past two years..

Great episode. Also glad to see them delve into more of the character depth rather than just cop stories.

Haha it would be interesting if he was doing that for the role, but I'm sure some of it is because of age. Or maybe hes really into his role, which would be believable because he seems really devoted to his character. Speaking of which, I noticed the same with Chris Noth. I think I noticed a larger midsection on him, maybe it was for his Sex And The City role he was filming for?

Anyways, it was good to see him but I was even more excited for Wheeler's return. I'm glad she didn't lose any of her charisma, she gives me a lot to look forward to for the rest of the new episodes. Did you guys watch the last episode?

Charisma? I must've missed that part. Then again, I only hung around because I heard that Mary Shannon was going to be on...

You mean Mary McCormack from In Plain Sight? I think shes a beautiful actress and shes in one of my favorite movies Private Parts. It was a nice surprise to see her in the last episode, I thought it was cool how they did that tie in with In Plain Sight. I wonder if many people caught that she was doing a tie in? Criminal Intent always has pretty good guest appearances.

Eric Roberts is supposed to be in the next episode, he plays the perfect controlling creepy rich guy. Its also a Goren/Eames episode so it should be good. You never know whats gonna happen with that guy

so USA's new series is now part of the L&O/Homicide/ X-Files/ how ever many other shows universe?

maybe Eames will get pissed at Goren and leave and Alicia Witt can be Goren's partner, then goren will die a painful death and the black guy can come back

L&O, Homicide, X-Files, The Wire, Arrested Development, In Plain Sight... am I missing any?

As for Goren and Eames... I don't get the hate. I love these two. I DO however wish that Fallace had remained with Logan. She was much more interesting than that 12-year-old red-headed boy they've got partnered with him now. That kid is a drag.

I really liked the Goren/Eames episode last night, what was cool was that even though you could tell that something was off between the two you could have fully enjoyed the episode without knowing the recent history between them. Knowing what happened in their previous episode really added to their show and I like that sort of uneasiness that was hung around them the whole show.

I'm actually glad Wheeler came back on to the show, she pairs well with Logan.

I've always liked Goren/Eames and even though I don't mind Logan or anything, but I find D'Onofrio more interesting to watch vs. Noth. I wonder, any chance for the two teams to come together for another case? I know they did one before, but some kind of two-hour season finale would work in that fashion.

That would be kind of cool, have the 4 detectives work together on some major case. Though I doubt that would happen, I can imagine it being a multi episode finale to the season. I wonder if there would be clashes between the partnerships. A Goren and Wheeler partnership seems a bit weird, he just seems to right with Eames. Though I think I can see Logan with Eames, what do you think?

Just a note:

NBC has been running the latest episodes a couple weeks after they air on USA.

They're airing on Saturday Nights at 10 P.M. (6/28 "Contract" S7E12) It's a chance for those who don't have USA-HD to see it in HD.

Or maybe see it when you're cheap like me and don't subscribe to cable. ;-)

Lawyers on Law & Order: Criminal Intent

Anyone notice and are amused when watching Law & Order: CI (especially early episodes) where the defense lawyer would allow Detective Goran to go on and on? Most of the time I seem them just standing in the corner watching their client breakdown and confess. I'm not a lawyer or anything, but shouldn't they drag 'em out of there or something?

I know it's for drama and everything, but I often find it funny.

This belongs in the suspension of disbelief thread.

It goes along with how the people the CSIers haul in never have lawyers with them during the interrogations.

^ Yeah, I know. I always just found it funny how they just stand back and let the detectives go on and on, lol.

Law and Order CI 8/17/08

holy shit Logan actually does have a female partner, she needs to dress like a chick more often
nice mention of Briscoe

not done watching yet, I have a feeling (especially based on the preview last week) that Logan will be gone again though

edit: yea, he didn't get whacked or fired so maybe he'll still be around next year

They made it pretty plain that he quit, though. And they've been touting this as "Chris Noth's FINAL Law & Order."

Don't know why he's quitting, it's not as if Hollywood is banging down his door. I'd personally prefer it if it was just Goren and Eames, but as long as Logan was the opposite end of the coin, I was fine with it. When he had Fallaci as his partner, I was digging it even more. Now we're going to have less Goren, NO Logan, and Det. 12-Year-Old-Ginger-Boy + Random new partner? BOOOOOOOOOO.

I at least like who they're bringing in to replace Noth.

It was a good episode. Just wish the ADA would've got what was coming to her at the end of the episode.

Wait... is it Jeff Goldblum... did I hear that? Actually, I'm pretty cool with that. Goren and Goldblum in a team-up episode called Law & Order: Idiosynchratic Overload would just about make my week (although I know a lot of you would rather open your own wrists).

Still not a fan of 12-Year-Old-Ginger-Boy Detective, though.

I don't mind having less of the "current version" of Goren; his on-the-edge shtick is getting quite tiring. I'll definitely miss Logan, though. Hopefully Noth will come to his senses and make a few appearances every now and then.

When will Law & Order: Criminal Intent come back with new episodes?

I remember back after the season finale they said it would come back in November. That didn't happen then they said spring, now NBC starts showing it tonight. Does anyone know when we'll see new episodes and what channel they'll be debuting on?
