I'm pumped for this season the show's good enough already and now Goldblum will be joining the cast too.
The website's pretty cool too, they have some pretty fun games there, my personal favorite being handwriting analysis which is pretty challenging. Great way to kill time at work..

Based on the commercials USA was running, I wonder how many people tuned in tonight expecting a Goldblum episode

I was thinking the same thing. I had a hard time staying interested in this ep. It wasn't bad but not special either.

So was Goldblum on tonight? I only liked the D'Onofrio episodes since I'm not huge on Noth. I'll be watching this for Goldblum.

Goldblum is exactly like you'd expect him to be. Agreed that the story wasn't all that good, but I like the character. Hoping there's a cross-over at some point when he and Goren have to work together.

The story in last night's episode was so-so. Goldblum is ok. His character is too much like the Goran character. I was hoping for maybe somebody closer to Richard Belzer's conspiracy theory character from SVU.

The USA site's got up 2 minute replays on their website, which are worth a quick look to stay current on storylines.

Law & Order Criminal Intent
I know some of you were wondering when new eps will be back on. Now that they are I figured I'd start a thread where we could discuss it.
I'm really liking the season so far, we clearly have Goren with ongoing problems and the introduction of Goldblum's Zach Nichols. Love the new character and Goren continues to impress with his methods and brilliance.
Two thumbs up to this point and I'm really excited to see how Nichols is going to be in his second episode on Sunday.

I dunno. I hate beign so negative but the premiere episode was Meh, Goldblum's first episode was just okay, and I couldn't even make it through last sundays. I can't believe I actually starting to miss last seasons 'crazy Goren' story arc. I'll give Goldblum a few more episodes, but the season really needs something to jumpstart it. Otherwise I'm not sure I'll be watching for much longer.

I can't stand Goldblum's character. I thought it was great how they made Laurence Fishburne a meeker guy on CSI, because people would tune in assuming he'd be in your face. But with Goldblum, his character's just... weird. I keep expecting him to tell them to infect the ship with a flu.

I'm liking Goldblum so far and I think he works better with Nicholson than Noth did.

I figured I'd stick this here.

I never liked Wheeler so this gets a big
from me. I liked the end of last season when Nichols and Eames were partnered up so I was hoping they had finally tired of D'Onofrio's bullshit and moved on.
Too bad they're not bringing Alicia Witt back, but her character probably worked better with Logan anyway.

Report: Saffron Burrows Will Replace Julianne Nicholson on Law & Order: Criminal Intent
USA is in final talks to green-light the show for a ninth season, but Nicholson, who has played Det. Megan Wheeler for three seasons, won't be back, according to EW. Burrows, who co-starred on the ill-fated My Own Worst Enemy, is the front-runner for Nicholson's job, the report says. Burrows would play the partner of Jeff Goldblum's Det. Zach Nichols.
USA is 5-for-6 with renewals this season. Is Criminal Intent next?
A rep for the show's producer, however, would not confirm the report, telling TVGuide.com that no deals have been finalized for Season 9.

Big casting news
Sad to see Erbe go.
Report: D'Onofrio, Erbe and Bogosian Leaving Criminal Intent
Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian will leave Law & Order: Criminal Intent during the upcoming ninth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Their exits follow that of castmate Julianne Nicholson, who will be replaced by Saffron Burrows. Burrows and Jeff Goldblum, who joined the show last season, will now headline the procedural, the Reporter says.
However, a source told TVGuide.com that deals are still being worked out for all the actors to return next season.

Criminal Intent has seen a plethora of casting changes since its 2001 debut. D'Onofrio and Erbe are original cast members, while Bogosian joined in 2006, replacing Jamey Sheridan as Captain of the Major Case Squad. In the fifth season, the show introduced a second set of detectives, led by Chris Noth, to appear in alternating episodes. Noth left last year and was replaced by Goldblum.
