I figured they would go with two men and two women so Shane was the obvious pick to go. And they did sort of call him out -- if you're basing your entire spiel on French cooking you probably should've visited the place once or twice at least.

I call shenanigans on this. If FN wants their contestants to be world travellers and have life experiences, then they shouldn't have teenagers in the field.

and they could have asked this in the screening process to get on the show, thus eliminating him before it even started...if that's what they are looking for.

Speaking of screening people, why does Aaron say that TV is not his thing? I mean.... HELLO, this the Food Network.

She seems so fake to me....and the thing with TV is, is that we DO have to look at the cook. She's tough to look at, with her awful haircut and squinty eyes. Nobody squints that much...if so, they get their eyes checked.
ditto...and who the fuck cooks in high heels? she is dressed for clubbin' all thetime..not many in the food network audience is going to be able to identify with a wench like her..
but then again we got Guy Fieri with the Mr T bling and shades on the back of his head

My thoughts exactly.

But I think Shane needs to packa bag and head for France and spend a few years over there... then come back for Season 6 or 7 and win that one.

Well, to be fair, what Lisa chose *was* her culinary point of view a lot more than mac & cheese. It seems that in some contests the judges preach the importance of the culinary point of view and hold it sacred, while in others they give black marks to the contestants when they don't deviate from it. Additionally, I have trouble understanding the relevance of being paired with a Brownie and being judged on the way you interact with her if your show isn't going to be kid-oriented. It should be about the food.

And for those of you interested, here is Lisa's segment as it ACTUALLY aired on Rachael Ray's show:

Kinda shows how much editing Next Food Network Star undergoes to add dramatic effect.

She seemed the obvious choice to go since she flopped on both of her dishes. It almost seems unfair to put Adam against Lisa ... she hasn't made a thing yet that he has ever heard of and I doubt she'd ever sully herself with BBQ.

So, do they instruct the "special guest stars" to be as mean as possible with the contestants? What was with drunken pervert Paula Deen stating that she hated Lisa's mac & cheese? I can understand not liking it, but why did she feel the need to go so far with her choice of words? Martha Stewart was just as rude.

While Kelsey's dishes flopped, there's no way she should have gone home before Adam, whose dished flopped just about every week prior. I seriously have no idea why he's even still there.

They probably eliminated Kelsey before Adam because there are already plenty of perky girls with shows teaching us that good cooking is easy. I don't know of too many who can tell us how to tank a restaurant ....

Kelsey got married last Friday.

Aaron was the only finalist who attended.

Sad to see Kelsey go, but she looks happy.

Aaron's a good guy. I'm hoping Adam goes next and I would be fine with either Lisa or Aaron winning. Aaron owes Lisa for the chicken parm dish. I think that he would have forgotten about it if she hadn't given him the stink-eye. Lisa probably didn't attend Kelsey's wedding because of pressing business back on Romula.

This is a really tough show. You've got to show authority and not be so young - but if you think about your dish, make a rather clever strategic decision to counter Aaron's "big comfort food" with something a little more sophisticated, you've "stepped out of your point of view." Still, if you cook steak and couscous with a kid because that's your point of view, you haven't included enough whimsy. And if whimsy is your personality shtick (harmonica playing, pratfalls), you're out of control and making immature decisions. And if you make a bang-up dish that contains well-used chipotle, and you even pronounce chipotle correctly - well, you'd better be able to define chipotle or you're gonna get dinged for that, too.

I guess Kelsey fought authority and authority always won.

At this point, it's Aaron's contest to lose.

I can see Adam with a show (a "Pee Wee's Playhouse" meets "Food Network" type show)... but I would not watch Lisa.

I have noticed that FN is really started to get some diversity in their stars. The Neely's, Sunny Anderson, and Ingrid Hoffmann are all wonderful additions to the network, and I think that Aaron would be a good fit.

It's only too bad the Neelys are super annoying.

While Aaron seems to be a good fit, I honestly don't think I'd learn anything from him if he had a show. I could easily see benefiting from a Lisa show.

She come across really well in the full segment. I believe she will win and can be successfull with some more coaching from the Food Network staff. Not sure she will ever be one of their major stars, but I think can come out with a good show.

On "likeability", I want Aaron or Adam.

To me (personally), Lisa comes off as someone I wouldnt watch. Her crying seems fake to me, she needs to stop squinting...she just seems like a BIG kiss ass.

She cried when Martha Stewart was on (she was her idol...that night), she cried when Rachael Ray was on (she was her idol...that night) and was emotional when Paula Deen was talking.

Her act seems like a facade to me...and I have to say, I was kind of amused when I saw her fall on the train and get covered by that sauce. (Im going to hell, i know...)

Yeah, I pretty much think it's Aaron's to lose. While I don't think he's polished in front of the camera, I think it's something that's easier to learn than cooking. Most of his food has been commented very positively by the judges. I think Lisa would be ok with her own show, but I don't think her style would attract the right demographic to the network.

The funny thing is, when they show her just doing the "confessional" (talking solo to the camera) she looks much better, her hair is more casual and she looks so much more human and so much less Romulan. Then you see her made up for the show and she looks awful, such a terrible sense of style.

Well my earlier predicts have been trashed... thing I hate about 'reality' shows is that they edit them to show what they want, not necessarily how it really is.....so you can't make an informed judgment. Lisa's Rachel Ray segment wasn't 1/10th as bad as they made it seem !

Agree Aaron has now risen up to be the best contender...but still has too many 'awkward' moments.
