I believe the Orion reference in Blade Runner is to the spectacular Orion Nebula and not the Orion Constellation seen here. The Orion Nebula is part of the Orion Constellation and can be seen as a faint light off Orion's belt.
Also, the Orion Constellation pictured here is obviously pretty identical to the view we have of it from Earth. I think you would have to be within 40-50 light years of Earth to get this view.
Anyone know the significance of "All Along the Watchtower"? I'm quite familiar with the Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, and Dave Mason versions of this song but have never heard the version used on the show. Why is this song significant to the Cylons? I know that Dylan was inspired by an apocalyptic biblical verse when he wrote it but I can't figure out a connection.
[Edit] Maybe I'm reading too much into this but if this song exists in the Galactica universe, wouldn't it peg the show's actual Earth time as post-1960s? This song isn't just used as background music, it is actually part of the story.

Here's the lyrics, FWIW
There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
Theres too much confusion
I cant get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine
Plow men dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth
Hey hey
No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke but uh
But you and I weve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hours getting late
Hey
Hey
All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Bare-foot servants to, but huh
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approachin
And the wind began to howl
Hey
Oh
All along the watchtower
Hear you sing around the watch
Gotta beware gotta beware I will
Yeah
Ooh baby
All along the watchtower
There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
Theres too much confusion
I cant get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine
Plow men dig my earth
None will level on the line

Yeah, I know the lyrics. In fact, as soon as one of the characters -- I forget who -- said "said the joker to the thief" it was pretty obvious what song they were hearing. Although the musical arrangement of this version is pretty whacked compared to the original. Still, the lyrics don't tell me much. Except maybe for the two ominous horsemen at the end of the song? I dunno.
[Edit] BTW, I know I'm referencing another episode in this thread and apologize if all this has been discussed before. I just caught up with my saved BG eps last night and haven't read the other threads.

...Moore told the show's music person to re-arrange the song so that it sounded like it came from within the show's universe. He also said that it was to seem as if the Colonial artist and the Earth songwriter had possibly tapped into the same ethereal inspriation to write the song.

Thanks for that link Heat. I'm just not sure what the hell to make of Moore's answer!

The A.V. Club: How did you choose "All Along the Watchtower" as the song that triggered the new Cylons?
Ronald D. Moore: That's actually a song I've been interested in doing something about for a long time. It's one of Bob Dylan's really interesting pieces, and I've always been fascinated by the lyric and the imagery. When I was working at Roswell, there was a point where I was going to do an entire episode about it. And then as we got into Galactica in the first year, I was starting to think ahead about ways of saying that, you know, things that happened on Galactica were tied into our reality here on Earth in some way, in the past or the future, or some other connection. And one of the ways that I thought of making that connection explicit was at some point, to have a song we recognize playing in the background on one of their jukeboxes. It's another way of saying, "Well, why do they wear suits and ties? Why do they use many of the expressions we use in contemporary culture?"

But yeah, the producers were probably going for the irritation factor, but I have to admit I kinda tuned it out, realizing what they were going for.

Am I the only one who liked Cally's character and bummed by the ending?
Also there is something extremely creepy about Tori embracing that she's a Cylon.

That's what I kept thing. My hope is when the get to Earth. The Earthlings will tell them all to Frak-off hit the road and never come back. I really hope they do this. Then we could see the humans and cylons have to cooperate together to find a new world.

Giving us yet another similarity to Robotech.
And I loved the Cally character too, she filled a role as a "lower decks" grunt that got caught up in a bunch of crap. I am glad she got a good ending though.
