Battlestar Galactica -- "The Tie That Binds" -- 4/18/2008

Spoiler:
Cally learns the truth about Tyrol; Kara sets off to find Earth; the aftermath of the Cylon coup unfolds.

Just got done watching the episode at: http://www.scifi.com (replayed at the top of the hour, every hour until 4pm ET).

 Oh my frakkin' gods! I'll be watching it again before the work day is out.

Spoiler:
I enjoyed the shit out of the Cally story and Lee's work. Starbuck's mentality is a joke as was her little speech to Anders about just wanting to frak  But the rest of the Demetrius crew looks awesome. I'm surprised that so many people that I would consider war-time essential (Athena, Helo, Gaeta) are off on a wild goose chase. Also, how exactly do they board those Vipers?

Oh, and of course the near-mass-genocide the Cavills threw down on the Sixes and Eights, leaving only Boomer alive. Caprica Six is still in Galactica's brig, right?

Snowlarbear 04-18-08 11:10 AM

glad they changed it from 12pm ET only. will try to watch it this afternoon.

Ranger 04-18-08 11:44 AM

Wow, the video looks good on my widescreen LCD. Props to Scifi for showing it online. Will be an excellent episode.

al_bundy 04-18-08 02:49 PM

just saw it, but with no sound

AC's are too loud here. looks awesome and will watch it tomorrow off the dvr

Cartload 04-18-08 09:46 PM

Anyone notice that the 3 Cylons met in weapons locker 1701D?

As for the ending, whoa.

Sean O'Hara 04-18-08 09:57 PM

Dammit Cally, you frakking screw up. You shoulda killed Tori while you had the chance and redeemed your terminal stupidity.

JesseCuster 04-18-08 10:00 PM

I saw it coming from the previews but didn't expect it to be so cold and vicious.

Hold on tight folks 'cause things are getting hairy

Just what I was thinking.

Excellent, excellent episode.

Patman 04-18-08 10:07 PM

That was pretty frakked up.

Cylons don't play. You got Cylon-on-Cylon exterminations, and the BG-Cylons are survivors, with little regard to human life, but they do care for the hybrids.

Cardiff Giant11 04-18-08 10:09 PM

Cally looked like she could be Starbuck's little sister with that haircut she had. Very different than her old haircut with the massive bangs.
Good episode, I am very interested in seeing where all this is going.
Can someone jog my memory though. I thought the resurrection ship was destroyed in season 2 with the stealth ship. What am I forgetting, was there another one or ? It's been a while since I've seen that episode so my memory is probably just foggy.

Ranger 04-18-08 10:28 PM

I only saw some of the clip online, and didn't watch the ending. Wow, brutal.

marka351 04-18-08 10:36 PM

I am still in shock, did not see it coming.

cleaver 04-18-08 10:44 PM

Why did Cally look so much different than she did previous seasons? It can't just be the hair.

With Gaeta and Helo in Starbuck's crew, and Apollo retired, who the hell is gonna take care of business on the Galatica?

Ranger 04-18-08 10:49 PM

Oh, is Kat still around? Hope she can step up for the pilots.

edit: I think I mean Racetrack.

JesseCuster 04-18-08 11:35 PM

Kat died but Racetrack's hot self is still knockin' about.

Racetrack's one of the VERY few (!) who are still on board the Galactica in case of a cylon attack.

Yeah, I laughed out loud at that.

A+ for the cylon betrayal segment of the episode
A for Callie's storyline
B for Starbuck's. I think I actually would have preferred to get caught up on Baltar's current happenings. But I guess that's being saved for Jane Espenson's episode next week.

Yes! Yes, I did notice that, even when it was scribbled on the piece of paper.
I knew that Callie was a goner about 10 minutes into the episode.

Breakfast with Girls 04-19-08 01:21 AM

Well, that should have happened to Callie in the first season.

Also, during Starbuck's "I just want to frak! I just want to frak!" nonsense I cracked up. Really bad dialogue.

I don't know what it is, but every episode has been pretty "eh" to me this season. Even when the Cylon fleet turned on itself, I should have been like "holy shit!" but it's been so obvious for two or three episodes that that would be the ultimate outcome that there was no shock whatsoever.

I chalk it up to just growing a little older. Nicki Clyne was about 21 when the show started; she's 25 now. I think she lost a little bit of baby fat, plus they changed her hair to a more sophisticated cut. Her makeup was a little different, too (to make her look exhausted, depressed, etc.).

As far as the resurrection ship, they've shown that there's more than one. As far away from their home world as the cylons are, they must keep one near the fleet that's pursuing Galactica.

I'm with you here. I was happy to see something of consequence happen, but they drag things out so long that there's no punch when it ultimately does happen. And everything with the Demetrius was terrible. I hate how ridiculous the writing has become for anything surrounding Starbuck.

das

starseed1981 04-19-08 07:45 AM

3 Episodes in and this season is already off track. Fuck!

Jason 04-19-08 07:57 AM

I liked the Cally storyline although I'm surprised at how quickly Tigh and Tirol reverted to their New Caprica ways of treating everyone else as expendable. The Demetrius storyline is annoying because of Starbucks irrationality, but it's probably going to be a major part of the show from here on out.

My problem is with Lee's storyline. What a giant douche.

Super X 04-19-08 08:14 AM

I was wondering if any of the four were going to succumb to the worst aspects of their newly-discovered Cylon heritage. I'm not very surprised that it turned out to be Tori.

What's wrong with a little Captain Queeg. At least they're acknowledging that she's off her rocker, unlike last season where we were supposed to sympathize with her even when she pushed Kat into killing herself.

A douche for finally realizing Roslin has a huge Messiah-complex but lacks the competence to deserve it?
