Personally I thought the acting was pretty bad. The storyline seemed okay and I don't think this one is doing the original justice (if it's even trying to). But I'll pass proper judgement once I see more.

The last three pages of mostly positive reviews has left me dumbfounded.

I enjoyed it as well.

The positive reviews may be explained by everyone going into this with very low expectations and when the show didn't totally suck people came out liking it.

I would give this show more of a chance than I did with Bionic Woman (which I ditched 15 minutes into the 3rd episode).

It would be helpful if you could provide some more reasoning why you are "dumbfounded" at the positive reviews? What didn't you like about the show?

As dan30oly said, I think a lot of people (including myself) had relatively low expectations for the show, so it was kind a pleasant surprise that it was an ok show.

It was nothing jaw-dropping, but I was entertained and would watch again. I mean it's no Journeyman (still angry about that )

A few thoughts... I'm surprised no one has mentioned the theme music. I was pumped when the first few notes started to play at the beginning and the end. I was OK with the reimagined theme too.

I was 12 years old when Knight Rider debuted on NBC. I loved it then, so I may be in some sort of nostolgia coma, but I really, REALLY, liked this version. I liked how they connected this to the original series too.

Any screencaps of the KITT 2000 in the garage? I missed it completely.

Ya, I agree about the theme. I was so excited they didn't change the opening. I kinda wish they included the whole "Knight Rider..." speech, though it doesn't work as well with that guy's last name haha.

Also, why doesn't the car have the "KNIGHT" plate?

I watched it last night and actually liked it

I guess I had my expectations low - I liked Val Kilmers voice as KITT! I guess I could warm up more to the new Mike..

I liked the technology KITT has..

I am looking forward to more

ditto

I wasn't expecting The Wire or anything, but this had some of the worst dialog/acting I've ever seen on television, and that includes day-time soaps. Just all-around embarrassing.

I agree. Liked the car and the plot, but thought the acting and dialog was subpar. I didn't think the actor playing Mike fit the part.

Liked it, and I'd watch the series if they continue in that direction.

I watched this last night and agree it was much better than I thought. There were some silly parts (especially when they introduced the Mike character in bed with two girls and the woman cop (in bed with one girl)--but overall, it was a fun show. And I was also thrilled that they kept the original soundtrack, just updated.

On the other hand, I was just "ok" with the voice of Val Kilmer for KITT. I really miss the original KITT voice, and thought Will Arnet was much closer to it than Val.

In the original series pilot, didn't Michael Knight only get his name AFTER he was shot (in fact, there was a different actor playing the pre-shot Michael Knight with the Hoff's vioce-over, if I recall correctly)? The Knight foundation rescued him and nursed him to recovery. Wasn't his orginal name offically declared dead then?

In any event, my point is that they can give the "new" Michael the Knight surname as well.

While I was watching the movie, I was thinking that maybe Mike Traceur was Michael Knight's son from back when he was Michael Long, and the reason he wasn't around was because he had to sever all his ties to his "old life". I kinda wish they had done something like that...

Expected complete crap and when that didn't happen, it ended up being OK. I'll check out the series.

A little disappointed in KITT though. Changing colors (like that should take bad guys long to figure out) and regeneration isn't a very long list of improvements over the original.

I thought the access to all of networked information is a HUGE upgrade. The access to all of the satellites and the other information was impressive. It's been a while since I've seen the original Knight Rider, so I don't remember what instant access the the original KITT had.

As for you expecting a lot more. I mean, this KITT was built by the same guy, and there's only so much you can do with a car. I thought it was about on par with what I would expect. I mean they could have used the same old KITT and put the nanotech and that upgrade itself would have been enough right there.

Didn't care for it all that much. Liked the car and the tech. Acting was bad, story was bad, and directing was bad. If a series comes of it I'll check it out though. The closest thing I would compare it to would be Drive and I thought the first episode of that was better than this.

I honestly thought the show wasn't that good. I don't know but I thought all the characters were blah, their backstories were blah and the black lady had too many moles on her face...I kept thinkining of Austin Powers 3 and Fred Savage....

Plus KITT, as far as I could remember never did any jumps in this one. I mean the old Knight Rider, you were guaranteed at least ONE jump per episode, maybe more. This guy didn't do shit except cheat by checking incoming traffic on his neato GPS.

People must have really low expectations, the only reason I got through it was because I was getting over a flu this weekend.

Bring back gay Kitt voice and the jumps and you may have a winner

Ya, I think they should. His name was Michael Long originally. And yes, there was a different actor.

The villain's sinister foreign accent.

"Wow. I've never seen algorithms this complex."

The cartoonish reaction of the semi driver as Kitt speeds past his truck. I was waiting for him to rub his eyes with his fists and do a double take, emphasised by a boing-oing-oing sound effect..

The introduction of the main character in bed with two women proving just how edgy he really is.

The introduction of a secondary character as a hot, lesbian, bikini wearing, FBI agent taking a shower on the beach.

Nanotechnology.

Traceur.

"What's popular right now with the kids?"
"Poker sir. Texas Hold 'em Poker."
"Ok good. Put a scene like that in there somewhere."

The complete lack of an explanation about how the villains found the heroes in the casino.

Blue screen driving sequences.

Bruce Davidson's body double.

The nonstop rockin' soundtrack.

This guy on the left.

No seriously, watch an episode of the original, come back and then tell me this show is cheesy.

Just because it isn't as bad as the original doesn't mean it isn't bad. That's some kind of logical fallacy, perhaps a lesser-evil variant of the false dichotomy fallacy.
